You seriously think Mane and Lallana and Lovren and Clyne and Pelle and Toby joined different clubs because the fans of those clubs might be more predisposed to the novelty songs sung by the team? If Everton or Spurs or any other club with normal fans had done this their fans would be equally dismissive and quite rightly so.

It's all pointing to a Shane Long hat-trick.

He'll get the Barcelona job if he is sacked by Everton? Okay then.

I still think we will say no in January. Six year flipping contract signed five months ago. I was realistic enough to know that might only get us to July 2017 but if we sell in January that's a clusterf uck of epic, epic proportions.

Jesus wept.

I believe it was that "we now have the best midfield options in the Premier League" Now, I like a bit of Les, but that was batsh it nuts then and looks even more ridiculous now. How many goals have our midfield scored between them this season?

I'd sign me and my two girls up to this in a heartbeat. It'll be like a continental version of a National Trust membership card. Fingers crossed you get a car sticker with it as well.

Europa League Verdict (How was it for you love?)
CB Fry replied to Golac's Iron Gonads's topic in The Saints
Nah. We shouldn't have needed that. We should have already got more from Israel or Sparta away, and we should have been 2-0 up last night. Beer Sheva qualified not through some fluke but because they went away from home and beat teams. We didn't even score one goal. Focusing the whole thing on one missed chance in a match is nonsense. -
A thread calling for positivity with a lovely long list. Textbook.

0.2 On a day like today you should be cleaning up with beautifully crafted wind-up posts. This scattergun say anything routine is lazy at best. Have a word with yourself.

0.5/10. You're better than obvious efforts like this. You've let your craft down, you've let the forum down, but most of all you've let yourself down.

Saints 1 Hapoel Be'er Sheva 1 - Match & Meltdown Thread

Fine margins. I'd we had snuck the 0-0 I would be relieved but not happy. If Puel had achieved the objective, great, but he didn't. From now on I will be referring to our manager as Fraud Poo-hell. -
Europa League Verdict (How was it for you love?)
CB Fry replied to Golac's Iron Gonads's topic in The Saints
Nothing other than a total failure. We should have qualified from the group, not easily but we should have qualified. Yesterday was pathetic but we had blown it before then by throwing away the Prague and Beer Sheva away games. While rotation may have worked by getting game time to more players, it's completely failed in its objective to actually qualify from the group. Rotation seems to have become the end in itself rather than actually trying to succeed on the pitch or, you know, scoring an actual single goal in one of the away matches. I've been supportive of Puel, I'm desperate to like him, but he has dropped massively in my estimations now. We probably won't be in Europe again for a couple of seasons or more, so this is a failure that is borderline unforgivable. -
Be fair we need to play weakened teams to maintain our ruthless pursuit of 12th in the league, below WBA, Watford, Stoke and Bournemouth. We'd never have hit those heights without rotation .

What upcoming season? We're in a season now, with one of the main planks of it was European football which we've completely thrown away. I think you have to accept that lots of people recognise a failure when they see it, and this is a failure on every objective level. The EL strategy was rotate the team with a clear focus on winning all three home games, play weak teams away, and hopefully get through. Fine. But not fine because it failed. And people giving it Yeah, cheer up, don't worry about not winning in Isreal/Prague, there are still "reasons to be positive" about the "upcoming" rest of the Europa campaign etc etc. But, there weren't no reasons, were there. We failed, not just today but across a failed campaign.
-
Fair enough, you're on a wind up. Fair play.
-
Stoke have finished in the same position three seasons in a row and thus far nothing suggests they are any better this year either. I wish we were Stoke, I wish we were Stoke etc etc. Bournemouth are having their moment but nothing more than the Swansea/Wigan/whoever of the future.
-
He has failed in what I think was his first objective, still be in Europe in 2017. He came in as someone with European pedigree and who knows how to manage the 2 games a week schedule. He's failed in that - threw away the games in Israel and Prague and tonight was utterly dreadful. Dreadful - we had two realistic approaches to the game: win 2-0 or scrape a 0-0 and we decided on the infinitely more fuc kwitted option. Dreadful. He was a fair way from winning people over and now he's ten steps further back. Desperately need a win and some goals this weekend.
