Brian Cough did win the league twice and the European Cup twice, so something of a class above our Olly.
-
His stuff about Saints being in eleven cup semi finals to the Celtic fans was astonishing.
-
If we beat Hull do you think we should have an open top bus parade followed by a civic reception at the Guildhall? I do. I think beating Hull City will probably rank of one of my best days as a Saints fan.
-
100% this. Said at the start of the season this should be our number one priority and I stand by that (I was and am convinced we won't get relegated.) Wembley, a trophy, Europe. We should be going for it. And we can be in the semis before we even start in the FA Cup.

I had thirty quid on Norwich only having 8 points after 10 games. Just collected £765. Happy days.

Why are there so many lately? Touchscreen phones, ipads, or a glitch with the site?

My point is Les Reed is a top, top administrator.

He's a top, top administrator.

No mention of that football administration expert Stevie Gerrard yet? Come on people. Buck up.

Can I look at Swansea instead? They won a trophy last year. And Wigan didn't get relegated because of their cup run. They just happened to win a cup despite being dog turd.

Nah. We were brilliant on Saturday because we are a superbly drilled team, with great team spirit and no little quality in our players. The ambition you speak of would be more of a distraction than a motivation. The team I see now is laser-focused on just winning (and particularly not conceding) against whatever team is in front of them. They day they stroll on the pitch with the CL theme tune in their heads is the day we start to crumble. (Unless it is a CL game and it is the real CL music.) (Our dream is real.) PS - that all has happened because of the culture of the club, and the ambition within that. That's true. But the manager and the team are focused on earning it. I'd say its more about sheer effort than ambition. Loads of clubs have ambition.

So for every player we sign from the Italian leagues we sign at least six from not-the-Italian-leagues. And from that MLG has decided we have a policy. Brilliant. I especially like his use of newspaper transfer rumours to back up his argument. Not usually a fan of "baseless speculation" our MLG, unless of course he's up against the wall. Great stuff, and (here goes nothing) well played Pap. All pretty LOLorific.

If we qualify for the Europa League should/would we decline to take part?
CB Fry replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
If we did that I would hope UEFA ban us from all European club competition for a decade. I think the CL could just about scrape by without Euro megaclub Southampton. -

Forum immortality awaits. -
Except this is not a Moving/Rolling Average. That would be simply the last 38 games.
-
Probably not. Unless there's a Man United song we can make a **** poor version of.
-
So despite their stuttering start to the season, Man United are going to win the league anyway, because of all those games they won last year under their previous manager. Well done them. What a fantastic projection. Statto nonsense almost biblical in its pointlessness.
-
Bless you. So do bigger teams deserve special treatment simply because they are big or not? You're the one saying Italy and Holland deserve a golden ticket regardless of performance and Belgium can get stuffed no matter how many games they win. If that was applied elsewhere you'd be screaming blue bloody murder.
-
Err, no. Some songs work, some are just sh it. It's nice we've only got a terrible song to argue about, because currently we actually are the greatest team the world has ever seen.
-
Except that song makes perfect sense, and has a timeless humour to it. It's a classic chant because it works for all clubs at all levels in all kinds of circumstances. Odd you are being so stultifyingly literal about it.
-
Well, if you mean that we've removed the spirit and all the words (and the tune) of the original song, the wit of the United version and the wit of the City reposte and are left with a "I herd dis on Sky" tw at's chorus, then I agree with you. This is how it feels when your fans know nothing at all.
-
Not a fan of the Inspiral Carpets then?
-
The song makes no sense at all. Why would it. It's for the Manchester clubs. Saints divs heard it on Sky and here we are with a senseless abortion of a chant. It's only a chant, so who cares. But it is sh it.
