They literally won silverware last year. Premier League and European football. What's to "spin"?
-
My definition of "shit the bed" is this post. 👌

He would not be joining a billionaire owned Pompey just to play in League One and definitely not play in the Premier League again until he's past 30. You need to work on your fantasy scenarios.
-
You're taking it well, then.
-
Please stop posting stuff from football insider. I mean for gods sake.

Lets hope Sheff Utd/Burnley/whoever don't try and usurp us for Downes.
-
Exactly - getting £27m up front is phenomenal. Anyone thinking it is "caving in" is deluded. Most of the headline figures of so-and-so signs for whoever for £50m will be a package where the money is spread out. I would be interested to see if Leicester got £27m up front for Maddison.
-
Gutted we've missed the opportunity to test ourselves against one of the Premier League big boys.
-
He is not coming to St Marys to wave on Saturday. West Ham United have a league fixture at 3pm that day. He will be with that squad, most likely in the bloody squad. The only exception is if something goes wrong on his medical today/tomorrow but even then I don't see him being at SMS this weekend.

I don't believe for one second that the strategy is regroup and finish mid table this year and try for promotion next year. Would be absolutely insane if nothing else. The best season to get promoted is always this season. Doesn't mean we won't finish 12th but if we do that's a monumental fuck up. I am expecting some more player departures (people convincing themselves that KWP isn't going just because no rumours are deluded) but I am also expecting us to do the same to other clubs further down the food chain. We've got loads more money than (say) Coventry or Blackburn or Swansea if we want to raid them.
-
I don't think it's that bad. Not many clubs are going to get £27m up front for a 29 year old this summer. And I doubt we were ever planning to commit to JWP's salary as a relegated club which is £15m saved right off the bat.
-
Unless he fails his medical he won't be at SMS unless we draw WHU in the FA Cup. He'll be in Bournemouth.
-
A bit less shock on something that anyone could easily foresee happening from before June.
-
The responses to this news on here.... You've had more than two months to prepare for this lads, and you're still shitting the bed. Jesus wept.
-
You do understand that football players are sentient beings with their own thoughts, feelings and desires, yes? Why the fuck does he want to "play every minute in every game" in the sodding Championship?
-
Lens not Leeds is what I can see
-
Flynn Downes if we can get him as an instant replacement seems like a perfect response. Now we just wait for the tear jerking JWP goodbye message.
-
Where is this "lots of noise"about Danny Ings? On twitter there is one thing and you've guessed it, it's someone saying it's being talked about on this forum. Jesus wept.

It's a real pity that Sekou Mara isn't going to work out with us, what with his Mum being fit and everything.

How did "every one go silly" about passing stats. Most on here were amused by it. Everyone enjoyed the win for what it was. Everyone except you, who was furious. Tell you what, absolutely no one said "we are the new Manchester City". That's just you making shit up. The only person animated, annoyed or "silly" about it was you sweetheart. Dry your eyes x x x
-
No, not really. All I remember is we won on Friday, people enjoyed that moment but you were desperate to be an absolute twat about it. Fascinating the fury you demonstrate at a victory for us and the relish you show at a defeat. Almost like you don't want us to win....
-
If by "basically the same" you mean "nothing at all like each other" then yeah great point.

I feel sorry that our lads won't get the chance to get a glamour tie against one of the elite Premier League big boys like Brentford or Luton.
