Man u sir Alex not really a gamble at the time as football had changed so much
Man City - went for big names as soon as they knew they were big in money terms and now on the pitch.
Arsenal - Arsene Wenger well not a gamble all those years ago and a good choice after what they just had!
Chelsea - always gone for big names since they have been big, but Di Matteo could be seen as a gamble, but I do not think he will get it.
Liverpool - always had big names at the club to go with 'tradition'
Newcastle is really the one that stands out. A league 1 manager being taken on and doing excellent after we all know being at Southampton.
Everton moyles, but again this was a while back now.
You will find a trend at these clubs that they bring in the big names, or employ within, in the case of Roy Evans, shearer, Zola, with the latter being big names at their clubs. but Liverpool may look at how well pardew has done, but I doubt it.
I think all the top clubs could be getting it wrong with big names, but the need for instint success more by the fickle fans than anyone, this will be the route they take.
If they do gamble it will be the Martintez, Lamberts, Rogers, and even Brian McDermott that would get a look in first above our man.
