True, but the way I see it if you are paying to go to New York, then to go and watch a popular sporting event while you are out there does not really make that much of an impact on the overall expense.

I always feel so bad watching Spurs and I really like their slick football.... does this make me bad?

Also reckon that Costa Coffee are going to see a shapre fall in turnover now.... that Costa may not be there much longer, best get down to it!

He has my 100% backing. He is now the Southampton manager. To get off to a good start would be fantastic and a platform to buils on. Even though he could not possibily be judge on the result on Wednesday, but a new manager normally gets off to a winning start. It would just be a great start with 3 points and imagine the lift that would give, and if we do not look back from that...... We could be back on track in no time. But saying the above, if we are not in the top 6 come at the end of the season i really do fear for the bloke, as AP worked wonders with the team last season and we have a better set of players and are in a better position than this time last season! Top 2 for me is a must this season, no excuses, or the 5 year plan we hear so much about is out of the window!

Just wondering if any of you knew if Scunny had any players that would improve our team/squad that Adkins could bring with him, on loan until the window opens? They are a Championship team afterall so must have some that we could nab?

Just to show my support for the new manager I will now be making the tip to Milton Keynes. Who else is going? If anyone else is interested in going to the game I will be driving from Royston, and if anyone comes through this way, you can message me and park at mine and pick the car up on the way back! So are many more going to be going to the game to try and roar us on to 3 points and onwards and upwards?

I think it would be pretty hard for anyone to get on with him, but he lasted longer under RL than AP lasted under NC. Long enough to get us back on course for the 5 year plan!

I would love it if he came back, but who knows if it would work here again? Completely different the last time he was here. But WGS main thing is fitness and that is what we seem to missing at the moment. Along with quite a few other things really!

I like watching the NHL as well, but nothing is quite the same to being at a live game. Not sure why it will not take off on tv over here, as it is exciting, high scoring and fast paced! Anyone seen a game in the States or Canada? Next time I go to New York I want to watch the Rangers.

The only reason I talk about promotion from the championship and then life in the Premier league is because that is the line we are being told by our chairman. The 5 year plan is what he has been going on about since he has come into the club, so why not aim high? We are led to believe that there is plenty of money to supoort what we are trying to achieve, so why not push the boat out and sell this 5 year plan to a higher standard (level) of manager on the back of this plan. We are now in year two of this plan and do not have a manager. I just think we should be able to get a higher standard manager on the back of the current status (Financial and expectations) of the club. I also wish that people would stop calling other fans arrogant, as we all want to achieve what the chairman has laid out for the future of SFC and we all want this to happen. After all this is what being a football fan is all about, we all have different ways that we believe we should achieve this. But at the end of the day we ALL want Saints to get back to the Premier League. Can we just agree to be a little split on how we should do this but whoever it is be 100% behind them?

I agree with this post 100%. Did we not bring Rednapp in as he had a great record of wheeling and dealing to keep teams up? But Ssouthampton were the wrong team and the wrong set up at the wrong time for him. It does not mean that just because you do a good job for a 'smaller' club that a run in a completely different way that he could walk into our club and do the same. I do not think he is the right man for SFC at this moment in time, but as i have also said he is probably our best choice unless WGS, or Kevin Keegan want the job. I still think KK with Shearer would be good. Also without knwing who else is on the list I cannot really make the choice who would be best, but from what we are led to believe then Adkins is the best choice of what we have on offer.

Before you have a go at me for my last comment I need to point out that I LOVE Costa Coffe and if you look at my other posts then you will see this. Just never knew there was a Costa coffee at the airport until a week ago and now it has been mentioned about 20 times. On a serious note this does need resolving and perhaps we will hear something today if it is true that he is in town, but you have to see the other side of this and the amount of people that have been spotted at the airport over the last week, and at the moment I find it hard to believe anything I read on here, but that is half the fun. If you do not keep it light hearted in here sometimes you will go completely crazy! I think we can all agree that we need a manager in place asap, and it seems that Adkins is the best choice, even if he would not be my choice.

Adkins seems to have a strong loyality which is very strong and rare these days. I think Adkins wants to do things the right way for Scunny, which I think is far enough, but if they cannot sort out the amount we need to pay them then let the football league do so. I think there is more to this than meets the eye and others are in the frame for the job.

I am more worries that the players we have could go and play at a higher level, so if they are not motivated by Adkins they will be off. IF they are like that then off they should go, if they do not have the best interest and fight for the shirt of SFC. I am worried that this will put us back another year as he builds his own team. Not saying he would not be good enough to get us out of league 1, but maybe not with the players we have. Of course I am only guessing this may not happen at all but just what I THINK will happen. Also he has no experience of getting teams into the Premier league if and when we have to try and do so!

I am sorry but Adkins is not the man for the job in my opinion, but I do beieve he is the best we can probably get. This seems like a step sideways or even slightly backwards from AP. I think if he comes in he will have to build his own team and if that is the case this could mean this season out of the window and we will be looking at next season to go up. I think the type of players we have will be looking for someone to come in and that they will sit up and take notice. Wrongly or rightly our players will not do this with Adkins IMO. He has not got the experience at this moment in time. We do need someone who will come in and the players will respect, but I do not think we have the pulling power to do this. It should not be like this but the players of these days are like this, and if we get Adkins I think most will want to leave in January, and on the pitch already it looks like most of them are looking for the exit, and perhaps they think it is going to be Adkins, and that is even more worrying. I think if Adkins comes in then it goes to show what a good manager (not person) that we had and we will not better him for experience and how well he did last season. Not pining for him but for some reason I did think we would get a Keegan, or even WGS back to really get the pulses racing!! What was I thinking??

Into day 13 now..... I really should try and get some sleep!
