I do agree. I was expecting us to have a quiet January after seeing us almost break into the Top 10. As long as we do the correct business in the summer moving on those that need to leave the club or have been languishing away at other clubs on loan and the money given to Ralph to invest in the right areas. The above is all good, bearing in mind that we still have enough to survive the drop this year.

No, we still don't like him. I want someone who attends regularly and actually shows some enthusiasm and interest in football. He's got none of that. I wonder if he could actually name his own players. I'd be inclined to say he wouldn't have a clue about a vast majority of our squad.

Are we surprised? 16 days in of silence, been on a good run and we've decided not to bring in anyone. Let's hope a few injuries don't bite us in the arse.

Not as influential as Traore, but Vinagre pulled up with a hamstring problem towards the end of that game also. Hopefully means a lot of tired legs will have to play again come the weekend.

Surely it doesn’t matter how fast the ball is travelling? The bottom line is, your hand shouldn’t be waving about your head, full stop? I like VAR, it’s the guy making the decision behind the screen that’s the problem with consistency.

I don’t want to be a pessimist, but I’d be happy with a point from here after 90mins. If we have a second half, as good as our first, no reason why we can’t have all 3.

Well, I didn’t think of that. If it isn’t accurate enough then it shouldn’t be used to make those accurate decisions until it can be proved it is. I’d personally want the correct decisions made in matches, wether it’s marginal or not.

That’s what made me come to this thread, had a read of that article a moment ago and we’ve been heavily helped, but totally screwed without it and let’s face it, we’ve had our unfair share of crap decisions against us these last few years, so VAR had been a welcome addition. But, when we talk about marginal offsides being negated, what is marginal? Like I said above, more of a sham to see a goal allowed that the linesman hasn’t put his flag up for, video shows that attacker was offside by an inch or so but allowed to stand. Is an inch marginal? I think far more of us would be raging about the video proving that the goal was offside but it wasn’t “clear or obvious” enough to the naked eye, I mean, what’s the point in having any technology at all if we don’t use it to make the correct decisions, we could be sitting a good ten points further down the table without it this year, below Norwich and theoretically gone.

I don’t understand why people want rid of the system when it gives the correct decisions? Now they’re talking about changing it in February to only reviewing “clear and obvious” My question is, when does an offside mistake become clear and obvious? And who makes the decision to review a “clear and obvious” offside? In the NFL for example, all scoring plays are reviewed. So, using that as an example, if all scoring plays were reviewed in the EPL and the attacker was viewed to be an inch offside, is that clear and obvious enough to recind the goal or is an inch not obvious or clear enough? Are goals going to be allowed to stand, even though the Video Referee finds the attacker to be offside, but in his view it wasn’t clear and obvious in real time? That’s more of a sham in my eyes.

Cannot argue with that.

I know we are pushing and look more likely to nick a winner for all three. But, I'd rather get out of here with a point other than zero.

Everton 1-0 @ Old Trafford. Could be clear daylight between 16th(19pts) and 17th/18th(15pts) if they cling on for all 3. I've been optimistic all season but the table looks concerning now, especially with Villa's next four games including us next week..

So stressful being a Southampton fan these last few years. We can all feel a lot better when we beat Aston Villa next week then a cheeky win against Chelsea since all the crap at the bottom of the table seem to be winning against them lately. We'll be back in our rightful 8th place soon enough..

I'm gonna join the panic if we get nothing from this game by full time. I've been fairly optimistic about our chances ever since we caught up with the middling pack, these are the games we need to be accumulating points..
