  1. I reckon Burnley might be turning a corner and all of a sudden that puts pressure on Saudicastle, Everrtoffee, Leeds and Brentford and with pressure comes nervousness and that can play havoc with performances. I can see one of those four dropping into the bottom three. I don't mind which one of those four.....as long as it's Newcastle.
  2. Yeah I agree. In today's market Stu has to be a £35m + player. And Oriol is invaluable to our system. His understanding with JWP just goes from strength to strength. Hard to put any price on him. And JWP.....playing better than ever. He was everywhere again today. Got to be north of £70m now. Happy Days.
  3. Let me help you with your dilemma .....Stuart Armstrong. 😀 I agree, KWP and Romeu were immense, but in my eyes Stu was "immenser". Hope that helps!
  4. With all these storms coming in, I'm expecting games to be cancelled this weekend. Apparently "Storm Trippier" is likely to hit the East London area at about 12.28pm on Saturday just as The Toon are about to kick off against West Ham.
  5. Yeah, let's just assume he was allowed to play for us against Chelsea in the FA Cup Semi Final....or indeed the Final, the pressure on him NOT to score would perhaps be too great. Can you imagine it if he scored the winner for us in the Final and the following week had to return to Chelsea as his loan period was over. "Ah welcome back Armanda, Mr Abramovich would like to see you in his office". Ain't gonna happen.
  6. Newcastle + Saudi Money + Unceremonious sacking of manager Steve Bruce + Appointment of their "first Choice" coach (NOT!!!) Eddie Howe + Injuries to key players + Cancel games before they can spend the money "allegedly" because of Covid + Winter break "Don't worry about rearranging cancelled games. Let's all go on holiday to......Saudi" + Spend big in January + Buy striker (Chris Wood) from main relegation rival + Buy Trippier, he scores a couple of vital goals and things are suddenly looking better + New striker (the same Chris Wood) yet to score + Trippier breaks foot and could be out for "weeks" = Karma. Just need Saint-Maximin to get injured and I reckon they'll be deep in the mire again.
  7. Nothing trivial I hope.
  8. Newcastle have picked up a couple of injuries including Trippier. I guess they'll have nine players testing positive for Covid this week. Leicester fans singing something about Zouma (even though he didn't play) I couldn't make out all the words but it involved the words"Zouma", "Cat" and "lives in a council flat". He's going to get that for the rest of the season and possibly his career. Moron! No sympathy here. Spuds 0 Wolves 2. Blimey, we must have really knocked the stuffing out of them. I haven't seen Conte's reaction, but it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke. How many more home defeats before Levy decides he's not their manager anymore?
  9. Well they certainly did a lot of running against us.....mainly chasing our shadows though! I think I'm correct in saying that Lineker said on MoTD that the Spuds v Saints game was one of the games of the season. Coming from an ex-Spuds player, that's quite something. Anyway - Everton - same team please and I think we have enough to beat them. They've got some good players, but their defence still doesn't look that great and one of Lampard's criticisms at Chelsea was they were good going forward but couldn't defend. 3-1 for me.
  10. It doesn't matter what differences of opinion we have on here, at the end of the day we are all members of the same "Saints Family" and although most of us will never have met Minsk, he is still one of us. Always has been. Always will be. RIP fella. Peace & Love.
  11. Absolutely. And It may actually work in our favour, because with results like that, he'll soon be on everyone's managerial radar again, when in fact he has apparently said to the new owners (if I understand it correctly) that he's happy to leave here in 2 years time...... to retire. In the meantime - just enjoy tonight's result. Absolutely fantastic.
  12. The new manager "bounce" is over at Everton then. As much as I didn't want Newcastle to win, the consolation is, it's pulled Everton right into the mix and looking around that Everton team, I wonder if they have the right characters for a relegation scrap. I can also see Brentford dropping further into the mix.
  13. I only went to White Hart Lane once. I was with a Spuds supporting fan so had to sit/stand with that lot. The memory fades with age so I've just had to look up the date. 6th January 1990. 3rd round of FA Cup. Final Score 1-3 with Matt Le Tiss, R.Wallace and Horne scoring. (and I couldn't jump up and down 😀) Funnily enough, my abiding memory from that game is Jimmy Case "owning" the midfield and really "putting himself about" I'd take a 1-3 tomorrow........(I'd take a draw to be honest). Get at them early and who knows. KWP is becoming a "goal machine" and I'm sure he'd like to score against his old team.
  14. Haha.....you're giving him that long?
  15. Congratulations to Boreham Wood for beating the "biggest" team on he south coast. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Changing subject - Well played Nottingham Forest too. I popped over to the Leicester "Foxes Talk" Forum. They definitely think Brendan Rodgers has lost the dressing room and want him out. Vestergaard gets quite a few mentions as their worst signing ever.........and he didn't even play yesterday. They say whoever sanctioned his signing should be sacked. I have to say, without Vardy (as much as I dislike him) they don't look a great outfit and one wonders where they would have been and what they would have achieved without his goals for the past few seasons. And Maddison.....Mr Billy Big Bollocks.....undoubtedly a talented footballer, but to me, his attitude stinks and I actually think we dodged a bullet by not signing him him. It makes me wonder, when they got Bertrand (on a free) and paid big money for Vestergaard, why they didn't also buy Wesley Hoedt for £25m at the same time. I think they missed a trick there. 😉 In seriousness I do find it odd that they signed two defenders (half of the back four) that leaked so many goals last season. My prediction: Brendan will be the next Prem manager to go......
  16. I feel a new "anthem" maybe in order for Oriol Romeu. Would love to hear the Northam singing this....not just when we play Man City, but whenever. To the tune of "This old man, he played one, he played nik-nak on my thumb, with a nik-nak paddy whack give the dog a bone.........etc". I'm sure OR would appreciate it. OR-I-OL RO-ME-U OWNS JACK GREALISH DON'T YOU KNOW WITH A NIK-NAK WHACK A JACK HE GAVE THE C**T A COMB AND TOLD JACK GREALISH TO F**K OFF HOME. 🎵 There.....I feel better for that.
  17. Gosh. What terrible news. That really puts everything into perspective. My thoughts are with you and your family Minsk. My very best wishes. You will always be a Saint. Peace & Love.
  18. I can't help thinking. if I was a Newcastle fan, with all that supposed wealth, I would be slightly underwhelmed at the signings of Chris Wood, Matt Targett, Kieren Trippier and Dan Burn. The Brazilian Bruno Guimaraes looks like he might be ok, but as yet unproven in the Premier league. They will all take time to bed in to a new system as well. Eddie Howe's has a history of squandering decent money so it remains to be seen, but hopefully (from our prospective) it'll be an abject failure. And of those signings, how many of those would get into the current Saints starting line-up. Guimaraes possibly? Trippier over KWP or Livramento - I don't think so. Wood over Broja - no way, Dan Burn over Beds, Lyanco or Salisu - Definitely not the latter, and Targett over Perraud - not for me.
  19. Haha. Newcastle obviously trying to buy him before we play them. They really are trying everything to avoid us aren't they. Come on Eddie, don't be scared - we'd love to see you.
  20. I'm not sure he's captain material. Never seems to be particularly vocal. He just seems to go out there, puts his head down and gets on with the job he's paid to do and I have to say he does it really well. He never gives less than 100%. He's a brilliant asset to the club and is probably one of the longest serving members of the current squad now. My guess is, he and JWP are probably the first names on the team sheet every week. Personally I think we are very lucky to have him. We missed him terribly when he got injured at Leeds last year. There again, if JWP was to leave, I guess he could become captain.......at a "pinch". OH YESSSS!
  21. I'm not sure Roy Hodgson needs the aggro does he? He must be financially comfortable already. He left Palace with a good degree of respect and is generally well thought of in football. I don't see he's got much to gain from going through the managerial revolving door at Watford except perhaps another pay off in a few months time when they decide to get another manager.
  22. You were probably in his "Meet of the week" 😀
  23. Armstrong v Laporte - the Monty Python version.
  24. Let's just face it. Grealish is an all round utter tosser and so far, his big move hasn't worked. I remember when we played Villa last year, the whole conversation on the concourse at half-time was about him, and what a wanker he is. Changing the subject, make the most of Salisu whilst we have him, because if he carries on playing like he is......we ain't gonna have him for long. The man is a beast. He and Lyanco could become a very formidable duo. In saying that I thought Bednarek was very good yesterday, but once he got booked, Ralf did the right thing in hooking him off to protect the defence with Lyanco. Great performance all round. To have played an "on fire" City team twice this season and not lost is quite something. Bring them on in the FA Cup Final!
  25. But hang on a minute. I've paid for the Amazon Transfer Players Prime so I expect them to be delivered within 24 hours. If not, I will be writing you a very stern letter indeed.
