Should have been at least one up in the first half but another awful end to the game mostly brought on by stupid substitutions that ruined any shape and attacking danger the team had. Seems like the substitutions were all pre-planned. JWP and Armstrong were working well again in midfield and changing that partnership made the entire team disjointed again, just like it did at Spurs. Seems like the coaching staff never learn and don't know how to do in game management. An end to the season very much in keeping with the rest of 2021. Big changes are needed in the summer.

Saints games take one of two forms in 2021. 1. Good first half followed by utter capitulation in the second. 2. Shit for the whole game. Today we decided on number 1 following on from number 2 on Sunday and last Monday. If we are not 4-0 up at half time then we are not getting anything. Once again Saints prove to be the nicest and easiest team for anyone to play against, but the stupid substitution when Ings got injured certainly set the pattern of play. The midfield pair were doing fine until it was disrupted and we ended the game with much the same team as in the semi with very much the same level of performance. It amazes me the management team can't see this.

Yet another terrible second half. Who would have guessed...
-
Think this will be 0-5, Son hat-trick and a couple for Bale. We have no hope of containing their pace and they will no doubt be more attacking than the past few months. Once the first goal goes in after, let's say 4 minutes, then our lads will simply give up. I would say give some of the peripheral players a chance but they have shown to be as useless as the others when given a chance in previous games. Not really sure it matters who plays tomorrow, tbh, as they probably don't believe they can win regardless. Normally I believe we always have a chance against Spurs but just can't see anything than further embarrassment in this game.

That game sums Saints up. Too nice and too shit. Didn't show anything in an FA cup semi. Just pathetic and time for Ralph to go. -

Hoping for a win but expecting a bit of a walloping given the form of 2021. Would not be surprised if it is in the range of 0-4 if we leave even 10% of the space given to WBA on Monday. Leicester have some of the most dangerous runners in the league and our defence don't seem too bothered to pick up runners. Having seen a measly one FA cup semi final win in 40 years of watching Saints live it is hard to have too high an expectation for this game. Now for a masterly defensive performance with a JWP free kick winner in the 94th minute... -
I wonder if they will bother working on any of these glaring failures before the semi final? Things like passing, tackling, shooting, positional sense, effort. You know, the things that are needed to play football. Probably can't be bothered.
-
I cannot remember seeing a worse Saints team than the one that has been on display in 2021 and that includes the Branfoot years and all the struggles of the 90's. Even the relegated team put in more fight than these guys. They are just so utterly pathetic at everything related to playing football.
-
Outrageously pathetic performance. The best we will get this season is 17th and without a major change relegation beckons next season. I think we all know nothing will change.
-
They look like scoring every time they get into our half.
-
That is just abysmal defending to give the ball away in that area YET AGAIN. Do these players never learn.
-
At least they upped it a bit at the end, albeit for only about 5 minutes. Armstrong is the only one who can really hold his head high. Redmond is just a waste of a shirt at the moment - I think he literally gave the ball away every time he touched it. Just runs into people and hands it to them. One shot in the whole match is pathetic but it is not like we don't all know this is a problem. You would think they might work on this a bit in training. Wonder what they do work on?

Game over after 8 minutes?
-
IIRC, Man. City got relegated in the 80's after having been top. But, of course, that was before the Premier League and my memory might be wrong anyway.
-
Don't know why the players even bother coming out for the second half. One goal in the second half in 13 games and goodness knows how many conceded shows just how pathetic this team is. Genuine relegation form and little hope on the horizon. Just have to hope for Fulham to be more useless than us as these guys are not going to do the business.
-
Another fine start to the second half.
-
Absolutely pathetic. This team is a joke at the moment.
-
VAR was supposed to even things up but it is clear there are two sets of interpretations, one for the rich and another for everyone else. Other than that it is pathetic to lose by this scoreline in consecutive seasons. Truly pathetic. And why are so many of our players getting injured and disappearing off the scene? Very weird.
-
Glad I didn't bother waking up at 7am for that. And congratulations to our clubs hierarchy for winning the new season bumbling incompetence award again this year - five years in a row now I think. Great job by all.
-
I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by this. Complacency sets in every summer for at least the last 5/6 years which means not signing what is necessary. Doubt there will be any further signings so this is what we will have to go with this season. One area is always left way under strength and in recent years it has been the turn of goalkeeper followed by attack followed by defence. This year it is the midfield's turn. Ralf needs to get a grip of this quickly.

During my time watching Saints, Jimmy Case was the best captain. Led by example and all the younger players in that team looked up to him. Imagine he would not put up with a lot of the pansies in the modern Premier League lineup.
-
How do we ALWAYS lose games like that. It is so predictably boring. Poor second half with no ideas. Really needed to freshen things up in January but another fail from these pathetic owners.
-
On the Solent interview before the game RH seemed to be talking some nonsense about not needing any players during this window. That immediately raised some flags that a bit of complacency had set in and my first thought was it lined us up for a loss today. Plus the talk at half time about not having lost to Wolves in the league at home for 50 odd years. It is pretty clear we are still lacking strength at the back and in midfield. This was a classic Saints defeat.
-
Fantastic, dominant performance. From whipping boys of the league to a team that can give anyone a game in two short months. Funny old game. Keep it up lads.
-
Fantastic performance by the whole team. Chelsea never threatened because we didn't let them. Dominated the whole game and that is the best we have played for a long time. Keep it up for 2020.
