IIRC, Man. City got relegated in the 80's after having been top. But, of course, that was before the Premier League and my memory might be wrong anyway.
-
Don't know why the players even bother coming out for the second half. One goal in the second half in 13 games and goodness knows how many conceded shows just how pathetic this team is. Genuine relegation form and little hope on the horizon. Just have to hope for Fulham to be more useless than us as these guys are not going to do the business.
-
Another fine start to the second half.
-
Absolutely pathetic. This team is a joke at the moment.
-
VAR was supposed to even things up but it is clear there are two sets of interpretations, one for the rich and another for everyone else. Other than that it is pathetic to lose by this scoreline in consecutive seasons. Truly pathetic. And why are so many of our players getting injured and disappearing off the scene? Very weird.
-
Glad I didn't bother waking up at 7am for that. And congratulations to our clubs hierarchy for winning the new season bumbling incompetence award again this year - five years in a row now I think. Great job by all.
-
I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by this. Complacency sets in every summer for at least the last 5/6 years which means not signing what is necessary. Doubt there will be any further signings so this is what we will have to go with this season. One area is always left way under strength and in recent years it has been the turn of goalkeeper followed by attack followed by defence. This year it is the midfield's turn. Ralf needs to get a grip of this quickly.

During my time watching Saints, Jimmy Case was the best captain. Led by example and all the younger players in that team looked up to him. Imagine he would not put up with a lot of the pansies in the modern Premier League lineup.

How do we ALWAYS lose games like that. It is so predictably boring. Poor second half with no ideas. Really needed to freshen things up in January but another fail from these pathetic owners.
-
On the Solent interview before the game RH seemed to be talking some nonsense about not needing any players during this window. That immediately raised some flags that a bit of complacency had set in and my first thought was it lined us up for a loss today. Plus the talk at half time about not having lost to Wolves in the league at home for 50 odd years. It is pretty clear we are still lacking strength at the back and in midfield. This was a classic Saints defeat.

Fantastic, dominant performance. From whipping boys of the league to a team that can give anyone a game in two short months. Funny old game. Keep it up lads.
-
Fantastic performance by the whole team. Chelsea never threatened because we didn't let them. Dominated the whole game and that is the best we have played for a long time. Keep it up for 2020.

Atrocious and disgraceful first half. West Ham are terrible but we are making it so easy for them. This team has nothing to offer. PEH is one of the worst players I have ever seen in the Premier League. Does he offer anything at all? Can't pass, tackle, do basic control, head the ball. He is literally a waste of space. Needs drastic change at half time. Lucky we have a tactical genius as manager.
-
Came from that pathetic control by Hoj. Terrible first half again. This team is incapable of learning.
-
We may as well play every game to 85 minutes then stop and add one to the opposition score, it is so inevitable that we will concede at the death. Every team we play knows Saints will capitulate in the last minutes. All they have to do is get the ball in the box. Frankly it is becoming so boring seeing this in every game. This is three points thrown away YET AGAIN.
-
Are we the worst team in Premier league history? Quite possibly. Is it worth watching the second half? I think we all know how it ends
-
It's a battle between us and Norwich for last place. Can we go a whole season without a home win?
-
I'm not so sure about that. Gao is clearly trying to focus everything on selling the club to the Chinese market and you can see the endless stream of Chinese language adverts on the electronic boards around the ground when we are on TV. A load of placards of 'Gao Out' or similar written in Chinese and English around the ground would have a bad look for all of those watching in China, particularly those government officials that he has to cozy up to to stay out of jail. Saving face is the most important thing for these guys and if it can be shown to his own back home that he is not welcome then it makes things a bit uncomfortable for him. It would be interesting to see if the stewards would allow this kind of action as we know how much Chinese officials hate protests.
-
This sounds like a genius strategy. The players are to blame and the aim is to replace the players before the manager. Oh, but we have no money to buy players. This is not going to end well.
-
Think we need to bring back the "What a load of rubbish" chant and the slow hand clap from the 1980's. I remember the slow hand clap when Saints were 1-0 down against Coventry in the 83/84 season. Went on to win 8-2. Might give the crowd something to do for the next hour, or at least keep their hands warm.
-
Oh well. That game lasted 10 minutes. Easiest goal you will ever see. VAR gets its revenge for all the decisions in earlier games. Another defeat....
-
Think that is my favourite game. Stood on the West Stand terrace and the quality of the performance that day was just incredible. Liverpool had not lost in ages and we blew them away for the whole 90 minutes. Of course with it being Saints I was a bit nervous when they scored with the penalty but they were nowhere near us for most of that match. Matt Le Tiss had a real turn of pace at that time as you can see in a couple of runs during those highlights. Strangely I always remember that game mostly for Jason Dodd getting in the cross for the first in what I think was his home debut. There were some great players on display that day. Can't imagine having a team or performance like that any time soon.
-
The same old rubbish game after game after game. Whatever the formation, whatever the team, it is the same old rubbish. Looks like another season of getting the odd win in 10 if we catch the opposition on a bad day and hoping there are three teams going to screw it up more than us. Another wasted summer of buying players for the future when it has been clear for three years that we need players for now. Management of the club from top to bottom is pathetic and we need to get rid of Gao to have any chance of recovery in any area. This team deserves to go down and it is just a matter of time until that happens. No positives and no light at the end of the tunnel for this team. It is just such a waste of time. The team has gone backwards from the end of last season, and that is some achievement in itself.
-
Do we bother doing any defending in training? Same pathetic mistakes game after game after game.....
-
The manager seems quite clueless when selecting and organizing a defence. Yes, we have limited quality in every area but surely he can see that was not going to work. Will he have the smarts to sort it out in the second half? If not then I can only think he believes it more important to make a point with certain players than winning games. Truly awful performance.
