There's plenty of evidence Ponty. There is data going way back to the 1900s. Sure people select what they choose to select, but if you look at the whole, it matches up quite well. I don't know how many times I have to point this out, but I seriously studied this stuff, as part of a degree, back in the 90's, and I'm damn well not going to bother dredging it all up again, only for someone to pooh-pooh what I'm saying, when I know people should be cautious, at the absolute least. It's a done deal; it's only a matter of degree. But never mind, I'm sure technology will come bounding over the horizon in the nick of time.

Ah well, so Saints won't be taken over by RB then. Too small fry, no doubt: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7896784.stm

I only wish he did. Sadly, it isn't told like it is. Don't comfort yourself Stanley. There are no quaint little thoughts about this topic anyone can have before they rest their heads on the pillow at night. The argument about whether the natural cycle of Climate Change [or Global Warming if you prefer, although that term is less accurate, hence the change] is human influenced or not, is a dead argument. The argument now has moved to how much humans have influenced the natural cycle. This so-called debate, we have here, is history. It has already been settled.

Quick..! Pull the Medway Chain tight.

Blast from the past. Must dig through the vinyl.

Just make sure you're a quick hand on the handbrake, and hopefuilly you're not in heavy traffic and up some poor bleeder's bumper at the time. Otherwise they'll be a quick Part 92.

It will be a tough ask. After all, the CE at Donnington also has to double as our ever present reserve midfielder too. Amazes me how he carries it off.

On one of my Windows PCs I started NOT using any anti-virus or anti-spyware about 6 months ago, and I still don't. And yes, it gets used on the Net. But to this day, it has never been bothered by proper viruses or spyware. What a shocker..? Yes, of course I'm careful where I surf with it, and I never open random attachments to e-mails, whether I have anti-virus software or not. After about 6 months or so, I tend to get bored with an operating system anyway, so I tend to install something quirky, like a Linux variation or an earlier Windows to see how it copes with the relatively huge, powerful hardware it is installed on. So I think I may take my current unprotected PC into murky waters to see it get taken over and consumed by viruses. Then I'll wipe it clean and install Windows 3.11 for Workgroups, and see what happens. Should be good for a laugh.

Blimey that's a departure. I've done many simulated drives of the current full and chopped Donnington track, and watched many races, and this new F1 track is a lot different. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7886964.stm

Correct..! If there is any time it's OK to have a disease, then it's best to have Chickenpox when you're 6-10 years old, I believe. I had it at 6 or 7 years, and there was almost a collective sigh around the neighbourhood that all the youngsters had caught it and got it over. I remember my Mum making me egg custard [i.e. custard from scratch, no powder] and tending to me when I was at my worst. I've never forgotten how wonderful the egg-custard tasted, and how my Mum would comfort me that it would all be over soon. It's a nasty bugger when you get older, and Shingles is really awful and painful. BTW, do anything other than scratch, if you can.

Not watched this for an age, but I thought I had to put a link on here. Amen to all that: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7892611.stm Slightly off mainstream: Monty's reaction to his bloody cat always put me into hysterical laughter.

Nope never seen it. Those films themselves are not really a genre I enjoy, so they have to be exceptional for me to like them. Hence Manhunter stands out for me. Still transferring some VHS films to HDD/DVD that will hardly ever see TV again. Tonight is Dead Of Night, a classic Ealing Films horror.

What a couple of pathetic idiots you people are. Frankly, I'm surprised at you Buzzin'. Was it you that dreamed that little idea up..? :smt082

Poll: Will y0u attend next season if lowe and wilde are still here?
St Landrew replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
The present Board show a cynical attitude to a club that they are not worthy to direct. Why should I bother to come along and watch their cheap and disasterous efforts..? Besides, the one thing they take notice of is the positive/negative side of a balance sheet, and so I'll not contribute to their coffers. The current SFC isn't the one I grew up supporting. When it returns to being remotely like it, I'll return too. -
Having decided to ditch all my existing VHS tapes some time back, I've earmarked a few bits and pieces on them for HDD/DVD transfer. Consequently, I ended up watching my old VHS copy of American Beauty last night, while I was transferring it to the HDD/DVD recorder. Really superb film, which kind of flows over you like a warm oil, mainly due to Kevin Spacey's great performance. But there is a quirkiness about it, and the rest of the cast, [apart from the daughter's boyfriend] particularly an excellent Annette Bening, remain two steps adrift throughout the film, which gives the whole thing a tremendous edge. It's a film that you wish will keep going, rather than coming to a climax. Great, tragic ending though.

Was going to say Paine for the A-Team and Case [complete shoe-in] for the B-Team. Well, I'll stick with Case for the B-team, but seeing as Terry Paine's England career came to a halt because of a certain player called Alan Ball, then I suppose I'll follow Alf Ramsey's choice. A-Team: Alan Ball B-Team: Jimmy Case

Steady old bean. Nearly worthy of an infraction. Luckily you're in TMS.

Agreed. I always thought David Armstrong was hugely underrated. We all know that he was considered the second best midfielder in England after Bryan Robson, and so never had an extended England career. For my money though he was more of an all round player than Robson, and easily England material [3 caps only]. He was an old fashioned schemer; a great maker of goals. He was brilliant at being in the right place at the right time. He perfected the arriving late into the box run. His passing was practically Le Tissier accurate, and he always supported the attack by putting in his own share of goals from midfield. Although he was left-sided, he practised hard so his right peg didn't just stop him from falling over.
-
Oh how I wish it had been utterly crap, and that the season so far, had been utterly brilliant instead.
-
Oh boy, that shows your youth. No Nick Holmes anywhere in the line up..? Perhaps you needed him to replace either one of your Oakleys.
-
I agree. I'd also replace Chris Marsden with a sub, but what do I know..?
-
Oops, did we miss something on Saints Greatest XI..? I think we'd better turn this into a sticky and take note. Captains, from now on, ought to be in either A or B team. Just my suggestion. P.S. And one for each wouldn't be a bad idea either.

My elder brother has a permanent hoarse throat, yet sneezes loudly like you wouldn't believe. Figure that..!

Saints Greatest XI - The Best Managers Poll
St Landrew replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
Well that's it peeps we have the teams and their managers. These polls have been fun, and the controversial result, that I suspected has actually happened. That is, that one of the most loved/hated figures in Southampton Football Club memory has topped the poll as the man most people would want to manage the A-Team, over and above possibly the most loved person ever to walked into SFC. It says a lot about Saints fans that, when the chips are down, they want a successful club, just like any other set of football club fans, and they won't accept second best, however good that second best may be; and Ted Bates was a superb second. It shows we love our club best when it is flying high. There's no miracle thinking in that, but perhaps it may be a good idea if some of today's influencial people might take notice of that transparent fact. But perhaps you have a different answer to our result. Well finally... here are your favoured teams and their managers. Representing the A-Team Manager: Lawrie McMenemy GK: Peter Shilton RB: Ivan Golac CB: Mark Wright CB: Michael Svensson LB: Wayne Bridge RM: Terry Paine CM: Alan Ball © CM: Matthew Le Tissier LM: David Armstrong RF: Mick Channon LF: Ron Davies Subs GK: Tim Flowers DF: Ken Monkou MF: Rod Wallace ST: Steve Moran UP: Nick Holmes and representing the B-Team Manager: Ted Bates GK: Antti Niemi RB: Jason Dodd CB: Claus Lundekvam CB: Dave Watson LB: Mark Dennis RM: Danny Wallace CM: Steve Williams CM: Jimmy Case © LM: Chris Marsden RF: Kevin Keegan LF: Marian Pahars Subs GK: Kelvin Davis DF: Mick Mills MF: Ronnie Ekelund ST: Alan Shearer UP: Peter Osgood If I get some time, I'll be writing some articles on the players, managers, and the teams themselves. We may even have a fictional match between the two of them. Pehaps we can have some opinions and stories of the people who have finally made the line-ups. Perhaps you can suggest the back-room staff..!
