  1. Will be remembered as the man who saved Southampton Football Club. Without his intervention there would simply have been nothing left. As such he occupies a very special place. With his helping hand and might, Saints have regained their pride, if not their position, yet. That will undoubtedly follow, because anything Markus was involved in was successful. He saw something in Saints which pleased him immensely, and it's upto the club and supporters to live out the dream he had. His younger friend and compatriot, Nicola Cortese will be feeling very low, as we all are. I spare a thought for him and hope he has the appetite to continue the work, that Markus had so much faith in. Here's also hoping that, in the forthcoming seasons, Saints can provide him with the true memorial that befits his stature among Saints fans.
  2. Will always be remembered as the man who saved Southampton FC. Without him there would almost certainly be nothing left. For that, he will always have a special place. Very sad that he won't be with the Saints in their climb back to the top. Here's hoping that Nicola doesn't lose his appetite for Saints without his old friend and former client at his side. It won't be quite the same without the genial big man.

  6. Is your entire garden space given over to growing your own..? BTW, try any Asian stores. You can get the sort of bulk quantities you require from them, the quality will be very good and the price will be far lower than anything a modern British Supermarket could get near.
  7. To be honest, I haven't made any comment about the season's opening performance until the following sentences because I have been absolutely gutted and really angry by it. In a word - shocking..! I don't care that this was Saints, doing their characteristic slow-start. I don't care how good the opposition were; I don't care if we made some really positive steps forward in our play, and I certainly don't care if we were entertaining and on-top for most of the match. The be-all-and-end-all is that we lost. We lost through conceding a goal in a similar fashion to several times last season, although many of those times, we managed to overcome the disadvantage. You would have thought they'd have learned the lesson by now..? How many times must an opposition come out at the beginning of a first or second half and show a little bit extra passion or skill, so much so that we can't defend it, and they score..? You would have thought AP would have this one pinned down by now..? This is far and away the best squad in this league, and they trip up at the first basic hurdle. Oh, and I'm not listening to tripe like... oh, it's early in the season, or later on... this is the crunch match. Because, from the very first match, it is the crunch match. Every match is the crunch match. Anything else is for losers and/or people who don't quite make it, but make a jolly good effort. Well I don't want a jolly good effort this season. I expect a win, especially at home. Last season was one thing, this is another. Like it or not, AP's men are favourites to win the title. Better start winning like title favourites then, at MKDons. Blitzing Bournemouth might help to get them back in the right frame of mind.
  8. As I started the other thread, I won't go all power hungry and close this one, but merge it with mine. EDIT: There, done.

  11. The average set of sleeping policeman do far worse. BTW, cyclists don't make motorists brake, motorists choose to do it because of their driving habits. Plan your maneuver. I could say the same about motorists. I can't trundle along, on my motorbike, at 30mph, in a 30mph district, because of all these mobile chicanes with wheels attached at each corner..! They will insist in forming themselves into a traffic jam. Inevitably, inside these huge metal boxes is a single occupant. Get onto a bloody pushbike and take up less room..!

  13. Nice to see a car driver actually observe a situation from the other side. You say... sort it out Council... but would you say it if you weren't on a pushbike..? The roads were awful before you became a cyclist. Well, well... as they say, to be understood, first you must understand. Looks like you managed it. Now carry that through in everything you do.

  22. I went to Malta in my Uni days to do some work. Must admit, my expectations were poor, but it's actually a really nice place. It's not for people who like beaches, because there are few, but if you like guaranteed Sun, warmth, interesting surroundings, and a vibrant capital city, in Valetta, that's as pretty as they come, then you won't be disappointed. Thankfully, nobody has mentioned the Popeye village, built location for the film, but there is Marsaxlokk, Mellieha, and don't forget Gozo, by ferry. I'd almost call it a tiny Crete, without the beaches.
