  1. Too fast for his abilities and/or the situation.
  2. I've been saying it ever since someone first mentioned him as a successor to Schumacher - He's reckless. He's hotheaded and he goes over the top. However, there's a saying in motorbike racing which I suspect holds true for cars too. I'll alter it to make sense for car racing: You can stop a fast racer from crashing all the time, but you can't make a slow racer fast. Basically, Vettel still needs to learn where 10/10ths driving is required, and where 7,8,9, or 9½/10ths is the best option. He even drives at 11/10ths occasionally, and that's just bloody dangerous. It gives me a picture of someone driving a Playstation instead of the real thing. If he doesn't learn he'll go backwards. He only needs to look at teammate Webber to find a very good example of how to do things right.
  3. The difference is... expectation level. Last season we expected something. Maybe midtable, maybe scraping promotion. It got bloody exciting for a while, but we got more or less what we expected. Just missing out on promotion by coming up short on the playoffs was the consensus opinion, I felt. The slow start and, most certainly, the -10 points did for us. This season is ALL about expectation. We're not obliged to give anyone a 10 point headstart, and we shouldn't offer the leaders another potential 20, like last season. Cortese expects, Pardew expects, the Players expect, and Southampton fans should be expecting the highest standards in League One, from the team, as well.
  4. meister - as in Moribund The...
  5. Dove - as in the bird, not the USA's idea of a past tense.
  6. I think too many people read too many things into very few comments. From a personal point of view, it is perfectly understandable to lose patience with a club which is building itself up as the Chelsea/ManU/Arsenal of League One. I am 100% in support of Cortese/Pardew and the Lads. But I reserve the right to be cheesed off, as well. The League One season consists of 46 games. Not 44, and the first 2 don't matter really. 46, and the first game matters every bit as much as the last. I bet AP didn't say... Never mind lads. We've dropped 5 points from our first 2 home games this season. We'll make them up. He wants to win every single game. The Bristol Rovers result just shows the level the team is perfectly capable of playing at. More of the same please.
  7. King Charles
  8. Whenever I think of this word, it always reminds me of the late, great, and largely rotund Harry Secombe who, on hearing of his knighthood, pronounced himself... circumference
  9. There's the difference in fortunes and class. Saints pile on the pressure and end 4-0 winners, and Bournemouth let their 3-0 lead slip against Notts County. 3-3 it ended.
  10. Well done Barnard. Thoroughly deserved.
  11. Just got in. Lovely to see Saints back to winning ways, with a minute or two to go. Can we play away every game..?
  12. Just popped in to the forum to see how things are going with Saints. Busy working sadly. Still, 1-0 to the Stripes, as I write. Excellent stuff. Cherries are doing remarkably well too. 3-0 up against Notts County. They've come racing out of the blocks this season. It will be peasant to overhaul them, but I hope they do well. I even like to see them get the other promotion spot. It's unlikely, but not impossible.
  13. That's an odd looking lamb statue in Winchester then. I believe it denotes the Hampshire Hog, and it looks remarkably pig like. The little tusks give the game away for me. http://www3.hants.gov.uk/logos/cx-logos-hog.htm
  14. Now moving this to the Golden Posts forum. Please continue to add to it. I'll leave a permanent link.
  15. You're forgetting the real night owl. And if Chrisobee was here, he'd be even later - if that's not a contradiction.
  16. I'm not fooled. This won't be a canter. It was never going to be. But I do expect us to come out on top. And to look like doing so, soon. Last season we started -10 points down, and then gave other teams a potential 20 points start. I don't want anything remotely like that happening again.
  17. That's the German twang..!
  18. Of course I have to live with it. Doesn't mean I'm not going to show when I'm upset. If I didn't care I wouldn't get upset in the first place. This season I expect..! That's all. I think you lot know me well enough, by now, that I don't moan for any old reason.
  19. Yep, read that too. Ah well, it was good while it lasted. He has a Cup Final winners medal with us, at least. Fond memories of a very good player.
  20. Completely agree with you, TT. After the first game against Plymouth, I kept my temper. Usually, I'm the last person to boil over and let go, but this season there are no excuses. No tummy upsets, no injuries, no bad form, no anything. Losing simply will not do. I have no problem with losing the odd game or two over the season, but I expect to win, and win well, at home, or at the worst, to be held to a draw. Maybe, I'll let the odd hiccup go. But it's gone. That's it..! There can be no more crap now. Saints aren't in this league for laughs. This is the real deal and it is to win the league handsomely, or at the very, very worst get promotion, by being in the top two. Nothing else is acceptable. I'm sure Nicloa Cortese won't put up with it for too long. Losing patience after a few games, [fortunately, two of them being from the League Cup, meaning that not too much damage has already been done], is entirely understandable, after all that has gone before. This team should be hitting the ground running and beating teams. The fact that it isn't shows there is something clearly not right. Calm, calm, calm.
  21. Been listening to a radio drama adaptation of The Birds, by Daphne De Maurier. I recorded it the other week. Pretty good too, and fairly faithful to the original story.
  22. Plenty of chances, but we have to learn how to score again though.
  23. I don't need to assume you have a short memory, Dune. It's quite obvious. Otherwise, you're just not old enough. Conservative Party politics either result in the seriously rich getting richer, at the expense of everybody else [which includes you and the rest of us, btw] or the trickle down economy results in a bit of a boom for everybody until everywhere is satisfied, in very short time, and then we go into another downturn. Another btw, the poorest of the population, benefit for the shortest time, if at all. Then we [the electing populas] get a crisis of conscience and the Labour Party gets re-elected to try to heal the misery the Conservatives have inflicted upon the unlucky and unfortunate [as well as the workshy, who they were aiming at], but it's often a generation too late, and we have another set of underclass who the rest have to support.
  24. Just a thought but, how about not bothering..?
  25. I don't love it or hate it. It's a car of some sort. The way I see it, it's transport that keeps you dry.
