Good luck to the lad as said above I also thought he was one who did really suffer being thrown in at the deep end last season thrown into a shambolic team & defence, had he come into the defence today, with a decent defence around him we may well have seen a different player. He now needs this loan spell to re-build his confidence, & IF he gets another chance at Saints then hopefully he will come into a winning settled side & just fit into a solid defence around him to give him the confidence to do his job.

Would love to think we'd win this & keep the run going but Franchise FC are a strong tough side & just feel it will end up a draw 2-2 for me.

Very sad news TT Please let Ron know we in his Saints family are thinking of him, Condolences to Ron & his & Chrissie's family. RIP

Great turn outs the last week or 2 of the promotion year 1978 Luton & Orient were special. Also as ericofarabia has jogged my memory my first away game was at Farton Carp 1976 just after the cup Semi final great moment when Channon scored in injury time. I was with my Dad in one of the side,s couldn't believe how many Saints were in there when we scored as most had no colours on.

Oh dear my deepest condolences to Ron, his & Chrissie's family. He has been through the mill this year, lets hope things improve for him from now on. Please let Ron know TT that his extended Saints family are thinking of him.

LMFAO You just couldn't script this any better. A long slow drawn out car crash :smt044

Several good signings by AP difficult to pick 1 out, but he has addressed our obvious deficiencies. he has sorted the spine of the team out which we've all been saying needed doing for several years. He has addressed the height issue at the same time. Hammond seems to be the main stay in Midfield who ties the whole thing together so just for that reason Hammond gets my vote.

Don't let the truth stand in the way of a good nay a GREAT rumour

That made me LOL mandric made a payment into offshore account & its private obviously not private enough as the authorities have found out about it . Stand by for some excessive twitching to be going on :smt046.

Is anyone concerned about Middlesbrough...
Under Weststand replied to ozzmeister's topic in The Saints
I don't think we've anything to worry about AP knows he is on a good thing here, he has been given a clean canvass here & is able to re-build a club from the foundations upwards along with NC. I'd be more worried if I was Leicester City supporter today as NP ticks all the right boxes for Middlesborough, if NP is offered the job who would you rather work for Gibson or Mandric?? not a difficult choice realy is it. -
The lowest point for me club-wise has to be that excruciating Falika Interview on Sky & from that moment the unravelling of the Pinnacle deal. Really looked like we would be going out of buisness at that time. Football wise it was probably Swindon Away. The turning point seemed to be Gillingham at home when we finally started to convert the scoring chances we've been making.

No I won't spare a thought for Saga, he played out of his skin for us to get a contract, & since then has done not to much for us at all. He has stated he wanted to get away from us, his main problem is there are no takers for him, or more probably no takers at the wages he perceives he warrants. Looks like we either need to pay up his contract to get rid, or end up paying a % of his wages for another club to take him off our hands. Not a good situation all round but he is just not producing the required end product his position,& wages demand. I for one will not miss him when he's gone. He is part of a very sorry part of our history I will be glad to forget, or put in a very dark corner of my mind.

Could well be the signing of the season, lets hope he can stay fit. If he does we will have the best strike force in league-1. Lambert & Connolly scoring for fun just makes you smile with anticipation

Thanks once again 19C for your observations on LM please return to your own thread http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=17294 regarding this matter. Now back to the point of the thread, AP does seem to tell it like it is praise where praise is due, & knows how to send the right message's out to the team, and criticise in a constructive manner. So far he's seen where problems are & resolved almost all of them, keep up the good work AP long may it continue.

Great result 3-1 & back to back away wins, were truly up & running now makes it even better to be of the bottom. Looks like we have some momentum going now, need to keep it going against franchise FC next week. Good to see the goals being spread about as well, glad Connerly scored on debut looks like another good signing. Next target out of the relegation places. Onwards & upwards COYR.

McMenemy - one of the UK's most successful managers?
Under Weststand replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
What Lawrie Mac did for this club as a manager was nothing short of phenomenal. Is he in the top 20, well that is questionable, as is 19c's top 20, putting Moyes in there is pathetic what has he achieved at one of the supposed big clubs in the Premier league? Lawrie's agenda/agenda's in the last few years can be called into question, but that is another Issue. Not the point of the thread IMHO. As Saints fans, how anything he did as a manager for this football club can be called into question is beyond me. He gave us our best period of sustained success(cup win, promotion, so close to a glorious year in 1983 runners up cup semi finals league cup final many European places). These arguments are all subjective I know but if it doesn't put him in the top 20 then it must put him pretty close. It certainly puts him in front of David Moyes who has a 4th place finish & 1 fa cup final appearance plus a promotion from what is now our Division to his name. Different era but 19c is using these points for his arguments. I for one thank god I lived through Lawrie's era, lived & loved every minute of the ride & I thank him for the memories he helped to give me not only the success, limited that it was but the wonderful football I was lucky to witness, what would I give, & hope many young Saints fan can once again enjoy those day's again. -
Trying to look at this without any malice, the FA have to come out & let Pompey Fans know who has control of their club. If the FA's fit & proper person check is to be taken seriously then they have to start giving fans around the country proper information, & show they are truly being rigorous in there checks, also how they a funding the purchase, ie leaveraged Debt or actualy buying with there own money. Sultan bin Trump was a busted flush yet passed the test's, so why are pompey fans so over the moon when there seem to be more & more unanswered questions coming to light each day that passes since the new takeover. I just hope for there sake this is not another false Dawn, yet nothing seem's certain just yet. I would be very very concerned this morning if I were a pompey fan.

Based on last 6 games we are the 4th best team
Under Weststand replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
Not a good performance Against Torquay but as you say how many times in the last few years have we lost these games, & given up at 0-2 down. As said not a great performance but a good confidence building performance, which is what we need at the moment.
