  1. Don't want to be a killjoy but I really can't see this happen now. Transfers from Russian clubs are complicated and time is running out. If I am correct and we just sign Carrillo I shall be a tad disappointed in the window, as I don't really think we have strengthened in the priority positions, particularly pace wise up front. Also I am worried that mentally the current players (while probably good enough) aren't mentally tough enough for the forthcoming battle. If Promes doesn't come maybe Sims will get a chance and surprise us? Anyway hopefully me writing this will be trigger Promes heading for Malaga airport later today - his signing would galvanise us all.
  2. To act as cover for long-term absentee Soares????? Strange rumour
  3. Hmmm - for them to launch this aerial assault they would have had to assert some control over the game which until THAT substitution they never looked like doing. We got away with yesterday but losing the initiative was not a clever move.
  4. Sometimes a win erases or wipes all the bad things
  5. But as the home side should we not be dictating tactics? Serious question.
  6. Another good post although a bit too praiseworthy of Tadic who faded badly (as usual).
  7. Very sensible post. Pellegrino's substitution of Boufal for Yoshida very nearly cost us the game but we won despite his stupidity. Shroppie is talking rubish.
  8. You spend your whole time on here having snidey digs at posters who happen to have a different outlook to you. Once in a while it would be nice to hear your views on the actual football?
  9. But surely isn't it best for you to wait and see how he turns out before announcing you are "very happy"? And for the record people on here are very rarely negative when we sign someone, it's just this time, with such little faith in the manager, some of us have expressed reservations, which is reasonable enough. Now he's signed perhaps we should all refrain from expressing delight or despair and hope he is the success we need, and he helps us stay up. Then we can all be very happy. Welcome Guido, Saints fans will be behind you.
  10. I think a lot of the negativity understandably comes because most of us have little faith in Pellegrino’s judgement.

  12. I like Charlie but he has become a bit brittle to be reliable
  13. Monaco supporter here. We kinda like him cause he always gives 100% even not playing a lot & has finishing qualities, good movements inside the box & very good header, but outside the box he's useless, lacks pace & agility, poor technique, lacks physicality for his style of play. Lifted from Twitter
  14. He is still by some margin
  15. Does he speak English I wonder? I hope he is a success but I have so little faith in the manager and South Americans in our football I sense this is a desperate signing. I really hope I am wrong and you all bring this post back to haunt me in May.
  16. There's stats and stats. I watch him regularly and believe me he is better than his stats. Most of his games he has played out wide for all 3 clubs, his recent burst of scoring has come after Cotterill moved him up front. If you don't believe me check out what the Blackburn fans said about him last year and what the Brum fans are saying now. I know I am biased but I genuinely believe he could have done a better job for us, but of course it is academic now because our need is urgent. Just don't think this signing is what we need. An experienced loanee might have done the trick.
  17. I have just read the book and thought he came across as one of the most conceited men I have ever known. Not at all surprised it all went pear shaped under his watch.
  18. Saints got a big loan fee when letting Sam go to Birmingham. Typical Saints looked at the wedge first and foremost.
  19. For the first time in my time supporting Saints I have big reservations. 1. He is a Pellegrino signing I don't trust his judgement 2. Our previous track record with South Americans 3. He is expensive and I doubt any better than Gallagher who we should have stuck with 4. We need someone to hit the ground running in the Premier League and he has no experience of British football This is a massive gamble for the money mentioned and one I'd rather we didn't make.
  20. You make a valid point but of course there is a chain in football and the club that has been poached would just look for replacements down the chain which is what happened before the window was introduced.
  21. You need to prioritise your frustrations methinks
  22. I think, like the fans, the players respond to matches against "bigger clubs". The fans were up for from the beginning but the crux will come v Brighton.
  23. It was a good performance but we have had glimmers of hope before only to come horribly unstuck in the next match.
  24. If the Board were to act like a Board should there would be no need to protest.
  25. Hmm I accept you are not trolling but I do wonder why you dislike him so. I don't think he is a Mesiah by any stretch but I was impressed with the way he almost saved Hull and took them to the LC semis (I know Puel went one better) where they gave United a good couple of games. Plus he is leaving a basket case of a club in a top half position (i know not by many points but the same could be said of Puel's 8th place). Under the circumstances we are under with those saying MP should say because there is no one better available I would hope the Board are at least giving this development some consideration. Needs must and all that.
