  1. I am going to make two observations both controversial but genuinely felt. Firstly Ms Liebherr has got to take some blame for our predicament. She had a right to sell to who she chose, but to then try and kid the fans she had sold on to owners who would take us forward was bull and she knew it. Her father rescued us (albeit with a modest outlay) and we owe the Liebherr family our gratitude for their sensible running of the club but the time to worship at the temple of Liebherr has now passed. Secondly I am being completely honest now when I say in my opinion this present manager is worse than Ian Branfoot. Yes the football was awful under Branfoot but, excluding Le Tiss, he had less talented players at his disposal and he at least seemed to be more consistent and less ridiculous with his team selections. It is generally accepted that the Branfoot era was our worst in modern times but Pellegrino is taking us to a new low and I have never known such frustration and discontent. I daresay a few will say we haven't sunk THAT low yet but if MP survives today then I beg to differ.
  2. of one! I think Redmond is finished at this club due to his poor attitude
  3. Don't cloud things with mention of Cortese, he had to go, he was spending money that would have bankrupted us had he been allowed to continue.
  4. This will sound like heresy but Ms Liebherr needs to take some blame, selling 80% to someone never likely to take us forward but then telling us she had. She lied. #saintsfc
  5. The most negative team selection for a home game in 55 years of my watching cost us 3 points. I despair.
  6. Went to Birmingham last night for the game and speaking to a Blues fan there were strong rumours that Rowett had been touting himself around.
  7. No. At the time it was right. Had we appointed a decent replacement then this thread would not exist.
  8. Depends when you reckon he actually took over. He says it was at the beginning of the season and the manager designate was a misnomer
  9. Don't want to be a killjoy but I really can't see this happen now. Transfers from Russian clubs are complicated and time is running out. If I am correct and we just sign Carrillo I shall be a tad disappointed in the window, as I don't really think we have strengthened in the priority positions, particularly pace wise up front. Also I am worried that mentally the current players (while probably good enough) aren't mentally tough enough for the forthcoming battle. If Promes doesn't come maybe Sims will get a chance and surprise us? Anyway hopefully me writing this will be trigger Promes heading for Malaga airport later today - his signing would galvanise us all.
  10. To act as cover for long-term absentee Soares????? Strange rumour
  11. Hmmm - for them to launch this aerial assault they would have had to assert some control over the game which until THAT substitution they never looked like doing. We got away with yesterday but losing the initiative was not a clever move.
  12. Sometimes a win erases or wipes all the bad things
  13. But as the home side should we not be dictating tactics? Serious question.
  14. Another good post although a bit too praiseworthy of Tadic who faded badly (as usual).
  15. Very sensible post. Pellegrino's substitution of Boufal for Yoshida very nearly cost us the game but we won despite his stupidity. Shroppie is talking rubish.
  16. You spend your whole time on here having snidey digs at posters who happen to have a different outlook to you. Once in a while it would be nice to hear your views on the actual football?
  17. But surely isn't it best for you to wait and see how he turns out before announcing you are "very happy"? And for the record people on here are very rarely negative when we sign someone, it's just this time, with such little faith in the manager, some of us have expressed reservations, which is reasonable enough. Now he's signed perhaps we should all refrain from expressing delight or despair and hope he is the success we need, and he helps us stay up. Then we can all be very happy. Welcome Guido, Saints fans will be behind you.
  18. I think a lot of the negativity understandably comes because most of us have little faith in Pellegrino’s judgement.

  20. I like Charlie but he has become a bit brittle to be reliable
  21. Monaco supporter here. We kinda like him cause he always gives 100% even not playing a lot & has finishing qualities, good movements inside the box & very good header, but outside the box he's useless, lacks pace & agility, poor technique, lacks physicality for his style of play. Lifted from Twitter
  22. He is still by some margin
  23. Does he speak English I wonder? I hope he is a success but I have so little faith in the manager and South Americans in our football I sense this is a desperate signing. I really hope I am wrong and you all bring this post back to haunt me in May.
  24. There's stats and stats. I watch him regularly and believe me he is better than his stats. Most of his games he has played out wide for all 3 clubs, his recent burst of scoring has come after Cotterill moved him up front. If you don't believe me check out what the Blackburn fans said about him last year and what the Brum fans are saying now. I know I am biased but I genuinely believe he could have done a better job for us, but of course it is academic now because our need is urgent. Just don't think this signing is what we need. An experienced loanee might have done the trick.
  25. I have just read the book and thought he came across as one of the most conceited men I have ever known. Not at all surprised it all went pear shaped under his watch.
