  1. I still have my full collection of Esso World Cup coins featuring the 1970 England squad, all fixed to the mounting board. I also have the record of the squad singing "Back Home".

I would probably hold off until we know the outcome of the FA investigation. A ban for Tonda along with the 4 point deduction would make finishing top a tough ask. But yeah, great news about Petetz!
  3. "Tonda Eckert woo-oh, Tonda Eckert woo-oo-oh, He spies on everyone, He breaks regulation 127.1"
  4. At least if Boro win we won't have to face them next year. An ideal scenario would be them having a miserable season in the PL to get relegated while we cruise to automatic promotion. I don't suppose it will happen though.
  5. Looking at today's TV sport preview: "Championship Football: Hull v Middlesbrough, 3pm, Sky Sports Main Event The play-off final. Teams and date may change." You mean there's still a chance?
  6. On the Betfair exchange they are currently at 6.8 (just under 6/1). I think you confused the Boro odds with the Saints odds - we are still odds-on.
  7. Absolutely. I think winning that last day match against Preston was more significant than it seemed beforehand.
  8. Nothing wrong with his maths unless you assume we also beat Bristol City (which we didn't)
  9. Yes 'Boro would need to win by a margin that matches or beats the combined margin of our 2 wins. So if we win both by 1-0, they would finish above us if they win 2-0. I doubt if 2nd place will come down to that but it could decide where we both finish in the playoff spots.
  10. On the Betfair Exchange, the odds of Saints getting a top-2 finish (which is pretty much the same as what you're asking if you disregard Middlesbrough) are currently 23/1.
  11. To the tune of Commodores' "Three times a lady": We're going once, twice, three times to Wembley. With Tooo-oo-oo-nda, With Tooo-oo-oo-nda.
  12. With the current TV contract, TNT are showing both games and I think it is them rather than the BBC who had the choice of which game they would have exclusive rights to. It seems they chose Chelsea/Leeds for that. Good for us that it's on free-to-view.
  13. Yes he played in the 2-0 win against Mexico at the group stage.
  14. There was a minute's applause for Chivers before the Sheffield Utd match.
  15. I'm another oldie who saw him play in my first ever game at the Dell - a 4-0 win against West Brom, 1967 I think. He scored one of the goals that day. I seem to recall that when he was sold to Spurs for £125,000 it was a record transfer fee at that time.
  16. I was there as well. Great game and great celebrations behind that goal. The following week we beat Liverpool at the Dell also by 4-1. Jason Dodd's debut I think.
  17. Yes 6 draws and 2 away wins from tonight's 8 games. Not a good day for home teams.
  18. You can currently back us at around 30/1 on the Betfair exchange.
  19. It's 100% fixed. I bet we end up playing a PL side in the next round.
  20. Did you receive an email confirmation after paying? I parked at Gerrards Cross station and scanned the QR code there to pay. It all looked genuine and I got an email almost immediately which quoted the time, location and my reg number. I second Sue's recommendation of the moneysavingexpert forum. I think I've seen information on there that "fines" from APCOA at station car parks cannot be enforced if you defend them properly.
  21. Yes he claimed that he and Gordon Watson had a plan to kick the ball out for a throw-in as soon as they could from the kick-off. There was apparently a "spread betting" market where they could make a healthy profit if the first throw-in was well within the first minute. According to MLT, he kicked a long ball the out to the left but didn't hit it hard enough and Neil Shipperly, who was not in on the plan, managed to keep the ball in play. This was supposedly a televised match away to Wimbledon. After he wrote this in his autobiography, I seem to remember that some people looked more closely into it and what happenned in that game didn't really match up to what he had described but I could be wrong about that.
  22. But hopefully not at the same time.
  23. Or Lawrie McMenemy who was also done for drink-driving. Doubly embarrassing because he had previously been fronting an advert for Barbican alcohol-free lager.
  24. Yes I read somewhere that just 5 clubs from the North of England (2 each from Manchester and Merseyside, plus Newcastle) in the EPL is the lowest number since its formation.
  25. I wouldn't worry about it. He's soon going to have plenty of free time on his hands to attend games.
