  1. Or you can get the same line from Gerrard's Cross or Denham (just off the M25). I did this for the JPT final following someone's suggestion on here and it worked out really well. Saves having to drive or tube across London.
  2. Quite. It's like going through the checkout at Tesco and them adding a couple of quid to the bill saying it's to cover the cost of the tills and the checkout person's wages. These things aren't free you know!
  3. She mentioned us on the bulletin on around 7:40 and they showed JRod's goal.
  4. And I wonder what they'll do if all teams end up with the same points and goals - something that's more likely to happen with groups of just 3 matches.
  5. Liverpool are 2/5 to reach the final with SkyBet. If you take FF's bet and stake say £80 on Liverpool then I reckon you'd be in profit either way
  6. Not if it's level after 90 minutes then we lose in ET or on penalties
  7. I know it's unlikely to happen, but if the club ever invited him to St Marys on a match day (to visit - not to play!) I'm sure he would get a great reception.
  8. TV aside, I think games generally just get moved to Sunday if one of the teams played on the previous Thursday.
  9. But if the group winners were always drawn against a group runner-up, that would just leave the CL teams to be drawn against each other. I imagine it's more likely that 4 of the CL teams will be seeded along with the group winners. So the group winners play a runner-up or an unseeded CL survivor. The group runners-up play a group winner or a seeded CL team. At the same time they'll do something to prevent teams from the same country being drawn against each other.
  10. In the Telegraph ?
  11. Yes, doesn't Google Ads check your cookies to see what other sites you have been to and then target the ads accordingly? I wonder if some people on here are revealing more than they realise about their browsing habits!
  12. It's when we'll be presented with the premier league trophy having clinched it 2 weeks earlier at Anfield. Everyone will want to be there.
  13. Also there is no way of knowing how a game would have finished if a decision had gone the other way. If a goal had been allowed instead of disallowed or vice-versa then a completely different match would have proceeded from that point. You can't just say it would have been the same result plus or minus that goal.
  14. Probably - although if West ham draw they could in theory still overtake us on goal difference on the final day if they beat Stoke by a large margin.
  15. May have had something to do with the way Klopp celebrated the penalty miss. From the BBC live reporting ... 'Jurgen Klopp celebrated that penalty save like a goal, uppercutting the air and bawling to the sky yards away from a peeved Ronald Koeman. You can see why other managers may be less-than-enthusiastic about his "enthusiasm" and "energy" on the touchline.'
  16. Some great memories here. Don't forget the half-time scoreboard by the clock at the corner of Archers Road. The scores would only be put up about 10 minutes into the second half and they were labeled A, B, C etc so you had to buy a programme to work out which score was for which game. Alternatively you could try and peer over the shoulder of someone else with a programme. You also needed a programme to identify the players from their shirt number - no names on shirts in those days of course. Obviously you would recognise the Saints players by sight anyway. There was only 1 sub per game so the pool of first team regulars would be smaller than today and it wasnt unusual to see the same 11 play week after week. Occasionally someone would be dropped after a poor game and I suppose there were injuries like now. Suspensions would have been less common as bookings and sendings off (no cards) were rarer then although the play was a lot more physical.
  17. In the 70s there would only be 2 games on motd - a main game and a "lesser" game. The other matches wouldn't be shown at all. It was quite unusual for Saints to be featured - maybe 3 times a season or so. I think the showing of all the goals at least from the top league started later in the 80s which was also when BBC and ITV started to show quite a few live games, despite the popular myth that there was hardly ever any live football on TV before Sky.

    Street names

Was that near Delgado Way that kept getting closed for repairs?
  19. Did everyone else get charged the £1 booking fee even for the print at home option? The order page made it sound like it only applied if you wanted to collect or have it posted but I still got charged.
  20. Probably. Hull are in the same position that we were in in 2005 - having to win at home against Man Utd and hope other games go in their favour. I hope they do better than we did as I would like to see them stay up.
  21. If it happens would we go straight into the league stage or would we need to play a qualifying round ?
  22. And wasn't it Walsh that was sent off for retaliating?

    Media Coverage

I've already started to see articles about the premiership being a "low standard" this year. Expect to hear more of this if we stay where we are. Of course there cannot be any other explanation for teams like Saints being in the top 4.
  24. If we win and Aston Villa lose against Arsenal then we'll go 2nd in the table - and we'd almost certanly stay there after Sunday's games thanks to our goal difference. I know it doesn't mean much as this stage but it would still be nice to see. Sorry about tempting fate and all that.
