Good to see they're sending him all over the world in (presumably) a private jet to lecture all the fuzzy wuzzies on how they shouldn't be naughty by polluting the atmosphere. Geology shows the the planet to have been subject to all manner of different climates and extinction events throughout it's life. Hugging a few trees, closing down a few powerstations and not going to the shops in the car are hardly going to stop that.

"Having a laugh"? No wonder humour is in decline in this country if this is supposed to be amusing. How can dancing like a fag be funny unless you are either a) blootered on swallie b) a doris or c) a sad cahnt. All imho of course.

It's easy to become more stateman-like when you are not a statesman. However, he has wisely dignified himself since his exit from the political arena and appears to have, well, grown up a bit. I agree that experience means he would now be a half decent politician, in the same way William Hague is, now showing more gravitas, but the true blue Tories wont have a repressed homosexual back in the ranks.

It says more about the media than the individual. Goody has been used by and has used the popular press to further her career and her image. As with most dubiously "talented" celebrity, it is a symbiotic relationship between them and the gutter press / gossip magazines. But there is obviously a market for it, i suspect derived from the desire of those who go for it to feel in some way empathetic with the glamourous life of the person or to get some bizarre feeling of schadenfreude from it all. So it comes as a bit of a shock when the frivolous nature of their "reporting" takes and very serious and tragic slant. Now we see a life slipping away under tragic circumstances, especially so considering the involvement of dependant children who will grow up never knowing their mother, being more informed about her by the press than by their own experience. The previous flippancy that occupied the pages is replaced by a sad and desperate woman who is facing up to the fact she will not see her life out fully and will not see her children grow up. Appearing in the media is something she has chosen to do and that's fair enough, it is not something that, i feel, anyone can or should judge. I suspect the media see it as an opportunity to sell a few more rags, but i sincerely hope they handle it with care and sensitivity and that the few remaining days of her life are as full and enjoyable as they can be. After all, if we don't like it, we can chose not the buy the paper, or we can chose to turn off the TV. She has no choice in what she is facing.

They are, extremely so. We've got a few flats to get rid of and have cut the asking price by 20%. If you are determined enough, you can get a cracking deal.
-
To be fair to the Government, at least they are doing something. We do a small amount of work for this lot http://www.aspiredefence.co.uk/ and they have got a long term programme over 35 years. So far we have done some refurbs for them. The end product is good, but their existing facilities from housing to warehouses was generally very poor as a result of years of under-investment, chiefly by Tory governments.

We lost that cup final to Boyatt Bombers 4-2. It still grates. I remember playing on grantham green pitches, where you had to learn to stay on your toes to avoid landing in the dogshyte. Lovely. Did you ever play against us? We used to play up at the sloping rec in Olivers Battery before moving to Bushfield camp which we shared with Eastleigh Eagles i think?
-
Same here, but i played for Olivers Battery. We were the nutz, i think. I remember us beating Bishop Waltham Dynamos 21-0 and sticking 16 passed Fryern Phantoms. I found an old programme the other day, for the u10's to u16's 1980 cup final at Pirelli's old sports ground. Were you playing around that time Hatch?

OMFG, this is dreadful news. Why oh why did it happen? I am in shock and feel very upset. How can this happen? FFS surely something can be done, can't it? Surely someone can step in or a big appeal launched? A TV appeal? newspapers? celebrity endorsements? Surely something can be done to save the Raymond Revue Bar?

LOL! What is entertaining is the way some people get wound up by St George opinions, which imho, he presents in an informed and articulate way. It appears as though they find it diffcult to accept an alternative perspective on the issue and are forced into childish reactions of the "it's my ball and i'm going home" type found in school playgrounds up and down the land. Long may the debate rage. It is far from "dead".

It's not all bad for the first time buyer, but it will take a long time to get better. There are larger numbers of shared ownerships from Housing Associations planned and once the banks align their lending criteria, the current position of 25% deposits will decline. However, bureaucracy within HA's and planning departments mean it takes a long time for a project to come to fruition. And while the 1st time buyer is not able to buy the chains are very small. Overall there has to be a more cohesive housing policy in this country. Thus far developers and housebuilders have extracted as much revenue from a site as possible, sometimes although not always, at the expense of what is required to suit the local econmony and population. For private development, I fail to see any improvement in the current situation, for some time. The main housebuilders share prices are poor, having wiped multi millions of the company values. Most have got land banks worth a fraction of what they paid for them and they are having to renegotiate the covenants on the lending agreements they have with their banks. Not good times and it will get worse as fewer units are sold. Sure, there are always pockets of land where values remain buoyant, but the general picture is depressing. This recession has kicked the arse out of the housebuilding industry and it will take an awful long time to resolve itself.

Got nicked when i was 15 for general arsing about one night, which included throwing a load of milk bottles around and breaking into building site canteen to nick some grub. My mum cried and didn't speak to me for 2 weeks, but the old fella just thought i was a **** for getting caught. I only really annoyed my Dad when i was 16 and got tanked up at a house party. When i got home and retired, very refreshed, to my bed the old watery jaw started and i barfed up in the wicker bin in my room. Thinking i was covered if i chucked it in the main bin outside, i went out into the night only in my boxers with a bin of sick leaving a trail down the stairs. I ventured out into the night only for the door to slam shut on me and wake everyone up. He was ****ed off at being woken up and treading in loads of puke as he went down the stairs, lol.

Demonstration for Swansea game- Time and place!!

Wes, I'm not trying to dissuade people from going, just questioning the rationale behind the march through the streets. And quite honestly, if my post can dissuae some from going, then i would question their desire in the first place! I think that there is the potential for it to go seriously wrong. If it did, then it could end up with some negative publicity for the fans. Protest Marches are not something that can be whipped up over a few pints and a spare weekend, they require a lot of planning, detailed liaison with the Law, Council, Bus Companies, etc, etc. If it is as big as some think (i.e. 1000), then I would question whether it's the sort of thing a couple of fellas with a loudspeaker and a Citizen Smith type bravado can control. Let's hope it all goes off well, but don't accuse me of negativity, not being a proper fan, (etc, etc) and all that crap, it's a cheap argument, wheeled out all to often and it's gets a bit boring. -

What a bizarre idea. OK i can understand a demo at the ground where Lowe and the others can hear, but a march through the streets? Why on earth? It runs a serious risk of a) not being organised properly, b) being hi-jacked by a few tosspots out for trouble, c) upsetting the shoppers on a saturday afternoon, thereby alienating any potential outside support and giving Lowe a perfect excuse to dismiss anything you do. I can see the many with good intentions being unable to control the ****ed up few intent on causing a trouble as all the yoof start singing "we hate Pompey" songs and the whole thing turns into a shambles before you get to the Institute. I mean good luck and all, but why? -
There are other areas of "green" construction for buildings, such as ground source heat pumps, rainwater harvesting (so-called grey water for WC's), natural ventilation, localised treatment plants, etc. I think they could work well in housing, if they are adopted, but will significantly add to the cost of housebuilding and therefore house prices. However, as with most of these things, the more they are used, the better the technology gets and the cheaper it becomes.

A tasteful glimps of flange would be nice, providing it doesn't look like a butchers dustbin.

In the meantime they will fall another 20 - 30% though. Unless one has to buy at the moment, i'd hold off for another few months.

Between 6th form and Uni i took a job on the nightshift at Sainsburys. On the 3rd night was right knackered and when i went for a pony, i fell asleep sat on the throne for about 1 hour 15 mins. My 'arris hurt big time when i woke up and my dangleberrys were beginning to form a life of their own.

I think it's really quite sad that Woolworths has gone forever. I spent a few weeks working at the Winchester branch under the project trident work experience scheme when i was at school in the 80's. Good times. Recently they were a retailer that, while not specialising in anything, had a decent range of handy stuff at good prices and their CD sales always through up a few bargains. It's sad to see them go and i'll miss not being able to pop into the Shirley branch. During their last few days it was also sad to see the committed staff being harrassed by a few vulture like tossers in the stores, complaining about anything they could, when the staff knew their time was almost up (and at Christmas too) and echoing ESB sentiments, it's dreadfully sad to see so many redundancies. I hope they get some luck with finding other work in these troubled times.

I just hope Rupert is chatting up the Utd board as i type, asking for a coachload of nippers to come on loan until the end of the season.
-
Riley has ruined the game, the ****.
-
LOL at all the names touted around as if we are a big club. The Board never spent big on a manager when we were in the Prem, so no chance now. We should be looking around the lower leagues for a manager or going for a cheap foreign import...............oh..errr.

I went shopping at Gunwharf in Skatesville once and couldn't lock my old Megane after i'd parked up. Naturally i was annoyed and when i spoke to the parking attendant he told me that it is common for Renaults to have this problem at Gunwharf. It's due to the Navy blocking a certain frequency range which matches Renaults central locking system or something and that the walls amplify this to the car. So just pushing it out of the space helped it start up and i was off. Bloody skates.

In the good old days it was inappropriate to not display a decent "tits oot" calendar in the workplace. It was the sign of a healthy, red-blooded, macho, male dominated work environment and all the lads and lasses loved it. Of course now, it is deemed inappropriate to have one on show after all the namby pamby, lefty lezzers complained and had them taken down. It is no coincidence that the decline in society runs hand in hand with the decline of the titty calendar in the workplace.
