  1. http://www.partp.co.uk/consumer/consumer_diy.asp Pancake, check this out, this should clear up the bs from this thread.
  2. Pancake - Part P of the building regulations probably makes it a notifiable job. http://www.theiet.org/publishing/wiring-regulations/part-p/ Basically almost any work in a kitchen needs to be carried out by a qualified spark and pre notified - (money for nothing imho). A qualified spark will be able to clarify, but i think you may not be able to do it yourself.
  3. to avoid a dead man's panhandle?
  4. Whatever the colours on his mast, he was one of the last examples of that rare beast; a politician who believed in a sense of duty and stuck to his prinicples and beliefs. And for that he should be remembered fondly. RIP.
  5. I'll mention Jeff Healy, especially 'cos of his unique style and his terrific show that i saw at Pompey Guildhall in 88 (ish).
  6. Exactly, without the OB there, 99% of the mouthpieces would **** their pants and run home to mum. Pathetic really.
  7. Rest easy people, they weren't skates. If they were, they wouldn't have been in cars but in vardo's. And i bet they were only pointing at the pub to see if it needed it's fascias and soffits replacing. It's good to be cautious though, serious business this pointing at pubs and looking shifty.
  8. 1 grandfather was in the Artillery and saw action in north africa and italy. His medals and other bits and pieces (photos, service records, etc) were given to me recently. The other was a tanker driver, delivering fuel to airfields. My grandmother had a brother who was in a Japanese POW camp for about 2 years. I was recently given a very small book of a mudsummer nights dream which he kept during his time in the far east. He wrote in the inside a list of the places he'd been to and had to keep it hidden from the japs. It was a bit of a christoper walken moment from pulp fiction, but i'm sure he never had to stuff the book up his bum! Nonetheless it's a great piece of family history.

    My bad

:smt102 Excuse my ignorance, but what does it mean? I don't think i've heard anyone say it.
  10. Depends on the tiles, but allow up to £25/m2 for labour for an average layout, with materials dependant upon choice.
  11. It's only ****ing chocolate, FFS! Christ on a bike!! I can understand the split arses getting upset about it, but fellas, really, it's pansy fodder? Now if Fullers went into foreign ownership that would be different........
  12. Guy Ritchie went to and was expelled from, Stanbridge Earls school which just outside Romsey. I'm sure he learned all his mockney traits from south central Romsey.
  13. Not a bad result against a good team with good home record (only lost 1 all season). They don't concede many at home and whilst it's a shame we couldn't hold out for the win, as long as we can win our home games and nab the occassional 3 points away from home, we'll do ok.
  14. Which means the bankers wont leave London to go elsewhere, which is the argument often used to justify not hitting the banks and bankers, as they are likely to be taxed anyway. Then they can be taxed more.
  15. This is section 44 of the Terrorism Act. I think the power to stop and search is still valid under PACE, unless anyone knows any different?
  16. Excellent. Now they can get right up to date with just how shoddy and inept the equipment is that is being given out to our troops in current war zones. Great news. I assume that they will have to give them back during the summer holidays and half terms, when they are not needed? And i'm sure the Government have petitioned every school in the land to ensure that they are bang up to date with their IT facilities, because it would be silly to hand out free laptops to low income families when any schools are struggling to secure funding to upgrade years old kit, wouldn't it? And of course, all low income families are decent, honest, hardworking families that are downtrodden and just need some "aspiration" in their lives. Not that it is patronising in any way to say that GB.
  17. Don't care how NC runs the business as long as it successful and at 5.50 on a Saturday i have a smile over my face. Didn't care how RL ran the business either, as long as it was successful and at 5.50 on a saturday (or whatever time it was when we were on Sky) i had a smile over my face. Started to care about the running of the business when silly decisions were made and the business wasn't successful - crappy managerial appointments, etc. So long as we are winning, buying quality players, scoring goals and being entertained i couldn't give a monkey's if an ex player and the club fall out or a few office staff cry in the toilets.
  18. Exactly. I'd love to be spending more time at home with my kids, instead of being at work.
  19. "How much is that Dad?" "2 and 6 and a horse**** sandwich, son" Very strange.
  20. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23661857-i-want-to-see-flag-of-allah-flying-over-downing-st.do Of course it's not important that he's on benefits.
  21. Presumably you are planning some heinous crime in the near future then! I don't doubt the effectiveness of DNA evidence in crime detection, but i don't see the justification of a DNA database of hundreds of thousands of innocent people who are very unlikely to cause any form of major crime in the future. What is the point? No-one has managed to convince me of the need for it yet. If anything, an unwieldy database of innocent DNA samples would add more time and bureaucracy to the detection process.
  22. Points to remember. 1. Convictions are rarely, if ever, based upon DNA evidence alone. Other evidence is needed to support a case and establish a conviction. 2. DNA evidence has also been used to exonerate those convicted of crimes they did not commit. IMHO i don't buy into either the "if you aint done nothing wrong you shouldn't worry" camp or the OMG i'm living in a police state hysteria trotted out during these discussions, but i do think that DNA samples taken in the course of enquiries should be used for that enquiry alone and destroyed at the end of whatever outcome is achieved.
  23. Fack me it's Malcolm from The Modern Parents.
  24. They would have invested billions in the coal industry in the 80's, thereby giving it a long life span, only to start closing the power stations that are fired by coal some 30 years later..........
