True story: I was in a long term relationship with a nurse who lived with 2 other nurses. I always got on with one of the others quite well and we'd often have a laugh. Anyway after a night out my bird and I and the other 2, along with a few other mates, piled back to their house. We were sat down; talking, when the Nurse i got on with flashed her growler towards me and gave me a suggestive wink, part wind up, part serious i think. Later, I stupidly told my missus (the booze made me) and she got the hump with me, accusing me of leading her mate on. Anyway, one thing led to another and she swung a punch at me, landing a decent right on the side of my head. I grabbed her wrists to stop her punching me any further and had a bit of a laugh at her, which wound her up no end. I let go of her wrists and she picked up the nearest object, which was a fork (we were in the kitchen, and she stabbed me right on the end of my old JT. :scared:Luckily i was wearing jeans and the fork was quite blunt, so no real damage done. So i understand when the red mist decends with a split arse, you have to take care, but nonetheless, i'd never condone lamping a Doris. I suppose the moral of this story is; don't go out with a nurse whose mate shows you their gash or you'll get stabbed in the ****. Or something like that, i s'pose

Any bloke who can't take a slap from a bird is a nonce. Never punch a bird back; laugh at them whilst restraining them from hitting you some more (this winds them up a treat) but never hit them.

Mackenzie is a class act and i really hope he signs on for next year. Corky has had such a positive influence on the side and i think that was their 5th straight win in the Pro40. Good times to be a Hampshire fan!

Monkey World is ok - longer drive than 30 mins though. Intech centre in Winchester is good fun for nippers, especially the Planetarium.

I was thinking about posting a lucid, thoughtful and incisive contribution, but that proved beyond me (i'm soooo obviously a product of a state education), so i shall just say i agree with this.

What very sad news. RIP Markus and condolences to the Liebherr family and all those who were close to him. I wonder if he ever knew how many smiles he put on the faces of the people of, or connected with, this fair city and football club? I bet he would be too modest to acknowledge it. When he bought Saints he also bought a part of our lives and our heritage, our culture and our emotion; the things that give the Club a soul and a heart, and a finer steward of these precious jewels won't be found anywhere else. You'll be missed big fella.

Life on Mars was excellent, good characterisation, especially Gene Hunt. Ashes to Ashes was a bit hyped because of the success of LOM, but was still well written and acted, almost a bit more slapstick, but it worked well enough.

I'm a cyclist and a driver and i agree 100% here - especially true on The Avenue during the rush hour. Quite a few cyclists do use the pavement up there (which is a cycle lane) but there are stubborn ones who don't, or who are oblivious to the signs.

"We always lose our first game" - Can't see how this justification can be used to excuse a poor performance. If i went in to work on monday and didn't perform because "traditionally" i don't like monday's, i'd be out on my arse. We are supposed to be favourites for this league. We are said to have the strongest squad in the league and we open our fixtures at home in front of the cameras. We finished last season well and essentially have the same first team squad plus a few additions. What better fixture to put down a marker and statement of intent to the rest of the league. Instead all i saw was a lukewarm performance by a squad of lukewarm players, who it seems, haven't been through a decent pre season. We should be starting as we mean to go on, instead we looked decidedly average and, more worringly, showed a lack of passion which is something the fans never lack.

Felt he kept making the wrong choice. Was given plenty of ball, but couldn't get outside his man (not strong enough), didn't deliver quickly enough into the box when required (especially to feed Connolly) and wasn't quick or clever enough to turn inside and use his right peg to any great effect. Lallana showed what he should have been doing in the first half when he came on. And i think Harding delivers a much better cross than Dickson. Apart from that he had a blinder.

If someone wants to boo, then that's their choice. I didn't but can understand why some did. It looked like a backward step from last season, AP looks ambivilent and there was no real energy in the performance. On what is supposed to be the grand season of achievement, it looks sadly like a recipe for a long hard winter of mediocrity through a lack of depth to the squad.
-
Poor performance, lightweight midfield, Barnard not very good, Dickson even worse. Why didn't AP buy a proper Leader, someone who can motivate on the pitch. Nothing seems to have got better from last season, in fact it looked worse.

Scooby i'm intrigued - did you ever get a Top Director to call you back? Does the phone still smell?

Went out in Winch for the 1st time in ages on saturday night and still paying for it! Went to Bishop on the Bridge (Nice) Old Guidhall Tavern (w@nk) O Neills (Great - open til 3 ish with a band, packed and good fun). Sorry, didn't go anywhere else, but the Oak was always a decent pub, along with the Vine and the Green Man. But there's so many boozers in a small town centre, you're bound to find something half decent.

I don't think the problem is with the number of houses a landlord has, more the borrowing profile used to purchase those properties. This is more to do with the banks / lending institutions than the landlords. Any future similar scenario will be fuelled by these banks and whether they offer the same environment in which to borrow. There are a number of responsible landlords who are careful with their investments and i don't see how restricting them is beneficial.

Exeter is quite nice, but have a think about Torquay. I worked in Totnes for a year and lived in Torquay, not too far to Exeter and Plymouth. It's a lovely part of the country and Torquay is always lively during the summer. Totnes is ok if you are a tree hugger, but the pubs are good and there is a "reasonable" nightlife.

What would be the purpose of placing "restrictions", whatever they may be, on landlord ownership? The buy to let market has been shocking for the last 2 years and anyone trying to buy a property with a view to a short term let to make some cash is in for a suprise, not least because very few lenders will give the average punter a mortgage for a b-t-l now as it is. No-one is fighting over becoming a landlord at the moment, the only way to get cheap property is through the auctions, for which you really need ready cash at your disposal. There is a shortage of affordable housing for first time buyers and the rental market and this is something the Housing Associations were addressing, but their funding has been cut and their output will diminish quite a bit in about 2 years time, so I don't expect the situation to get better anytime soon.

No, they are a security threat. Only the other day i saw 2 women wearing the full on burkha cloak things and overheard one of them ask the other "Does my bomb look big in this?" Serious business.

After years on working in an office or on site - but always leaving the house to go to work - i started working from home about 3 months ago. It was fine when no-one was in the house, but as soon as the missus or nippers came home, i couldn't do it, even if they left me alone. Ended up having to get an office. I'm just too used to having a workplace different to my home.

I was lucky enough the do a charity ride from London to Paris a few years back. We arrived in Paris on the Saturday before the Tour came in on the Sunday. The traffic was stopped and we got to cycle around half of the Place Charles de Gauille and ride down the Champs Elysees before heading off over the river and ending up under the Eiffel Tower. The day after we all went into Paris to see the final stage of the Tour. I managed to get a spot on the Rue de Rivoli all afternoon. It was magnificent and the whole event was superb, completely memorable.

Some national pride is needed at tournaments like this. As we are generally inferior to continental players both individually and collectively, we need an english manager to try and gee the players up a bit. we rely on determination and hard work which comes from emotion and a togtherness that can on;y be generated by an english manager. Keegan would have turned Bechenbauers comments into ammo.

What a tragic story. We should never forget how these brave lads and lasses put their lives on the line when carrying out their job. RIP

He's funnier than that c**t Michael Macintyre, not a lot mind.
