  1. Could see this also being a forward 3 if we are using bbd and Arma wide . another thing I’d say about the way we used him last season it seemed like more of a 442 but with him stuck out completely wide and Armstrong who was also isolated and is not the type of player to hold up the ball to let bbd make runs off of him .. so we hardly played at all to his strengths really. At Sheffield utd he played off a target man so they used him very differently. if we are to use him and Armstrong as wide forwards it would make a lot more sense to play downs over archer as downs can hold the ball up allowing those two chance to make runs inside.. I think it’s hard to accommodate archer into a 3
  2. Pretty sure he played off the left at Blackburn ? I do agree about the attributes but could see him being a bit simular to how Adam Armstrong or at a real stretch jay rod played .. I’m not a fan at all by the way I just think he probably deserves a bit more chance then 4 games last season .. the drop in level could do what it does for AA let’s see
  3. If I was still I think I’d be starting Robinson on the left he looked good there in pre season cutting in from the left, don’t think it has to be on the right or not at all and he looks excellent pre season.. Regarding Brereton Diaz I thought he was poor too last season so don’t really wanna play devils advocate here. But after loads of people was raving about the signing everyone is now totally against him on the evidence of what ? 4 premiership starts in which he was very isolated out wide ..it’s a very small sample size to give him much of a chance and also when you look at the difference between AA in the championship compared to the premier league The gulf is so huge I think it’s not out of the question that BBD could actually be very effective when dropping down level He’s done it before with Blackburn and was even decent in the premier league with Sheffield .. I’m open to seeing if the step down could make a huge difference he’s not a lost cause yet. Edozie isn’t really a team player a lot of the time but he can give us something different he takes it on himself to try and make things happen and must be a nightmare trying to defend against sometimes I think we have a nice array or options personally at this stage
  4. Out of everyone I’d love to keep ramsdale the most. But I guess this is good news providing we do replace him and don’t end up with bazunu in goal .. most of our squad I think is decent for this level But bazunu and I don’t mean to be horrible is a absolute liability . You need to work on replacing the weak links over anything else
  5. Not sure what people want really . On the wings in the attacking positions we have the options of AA someone who’s scored 20 plus goals in multiple seasons there, dibling can play there he’s still here, bbd wasn’t great last season but he’s also scored 20 plus playing out wide at this level . Fraser who had excellent end product last time in this league and then you still have Robinson and edozie .. all of these look decent options at championship level ? even if we sign another in that position it’s not gonna be a given they start over that bunch
  6. Didn’t like the look of him on the you tube videos but gotta say that was a excellent run and finish great pace and composure . Another thing that looks really good for him is he didn’t really have a huge amount of starts last year so when you look at it like that he was close to a goal a game when you look at it from starts to goals which is a much fairer way of judging things ..
  7. Totally with you on this. We have so many top level proven championship performers yet people think they are now not good enough just because they wasn’t in the premier league? .
  8. Well we have signed shit loads of players who barely get a game look at last season the likes of bbd, Taylor etc .. so does it really matter if we take the gamble of getting a goalkeeper in early .. also it’s not like whoever we sign is gonna also be on ramsdale type wages Main point I’m making is it would be nice if we could a johannson or someone secured rather then scratching about in the last couple of days in the windows or ending up relying on bazunu when it’s super likely ramsdale won’t be here
  9. Don’t see the big deal really we sign downs when we have plenty of other striker options .. not to mention if ramsdale wants to go its fairly obvious he will get a move as he’s pretty much a top ten premiership keeper no chance he stays. . I’d much rather get a replacement in now then end up having bazunu in goal as we left it too late that would be an absolute disaster
  10. Biggest concern is it’s starting to feel like we are gonna end up with bazunu in goal this season ..surely we have an idea if ramsdale wants out or not ? If so might as well get a replacement sorted now instead of dithering about waiting for him to go first and leaving everything last minute ?
  11. Give it a couple of seasons we might be
  12. My issue with this is if he clearly is showing certain players are not in his plans wouldn’t that weaken our bargaining position on the players that don’t make the cut ? Clubs surely more inclined to take the piss with lowball offers if they know ?
  13. Gerard pretty much echoing what I what I was saying here .. I think number ten is his best position too but he’s got such a versatile skillset he can be used in a load of positions , some of his dribbling is even a bit winger like .. we haven’t really seen much of a him as a traditional ten but that versatility is surely worth keeping him around for
  14. Yeah who knows .. I thought physicality was one of the things they where looking for he’s certainly strong and likes to thread a pass . . I don’t think aribo was really that bad in the pl tbh considering he was getting played out of position as a centre back or in a two man midfield with neither really being the holding player .. he still had some decent games and put a shift in
  15. I thought Aribo was class last time in the championship . The way he can hold players off and buy himself time on the ball is a real asset he also sees runs and plays quality through balls .. doesn’t seem to in favour by many but I rate him wouldn’t even be surprised if he’s better then Charles and downes either if last time was anything to go by probably the most well rounded midfielder we have
  16. Is there no long sleeved variant with the home this year ? I always prefer the sleeves myself
  17. Even so there’s nothing to really back up that he would be expecting first team football in the premier league last season .. he was hardly getting a sniff in the championship and then the club also step up a level , which would really make it even a more tempting proposal if he we offered him a extension at the start of last season . We can’t really prove who’s right on this debate .. but I certainly wouldn’t be confident that the same club who have fucked up pretty much all our recruitment and offered McCarthy and Martin new contracts last year played a blinder on this one
  18. Second kit is a bit of a vile colour combination for stripes . Didn’t like the original much and this looks more shiny and plasticky and the collar is worse
  19. There not much weight behind any of what your saying there though .. it’s basically just giving the club the benefit of the doubt that between them and Russell Martin they played the dibling contract situation perfectly you trust them a lot more then me . your pretty much making out dibling and his agent would be so aware that they where above us and to not sign a extension but the season before he could barely get a game in the championship - absolutely no reason at all coming into the premiership season that they hold all the cards .. to add to that he was happy enough to sign a deal prior to that then you have jay Robinson no problem with him signing a deal to 2029 and you could even speculate that the club learned there lesson here and was super rapid in signing him up to avoid another dibling situation ?
  20. Yeah me too people criticise sulemana for end product but he was no worse then dibling with under half the game time .. he’s a good dribbler and at the start of the season looked like he could beat people for fun . But I haven’t really been impressed with anything else .. second half of the season he looked like a sullky passenger of all the top youngsters we have sold and even including ones not from the academy like Lavia and livramento I’m usually gutted but with dibling I think he’s kinda flattering to deceive and would be tempted to cash in whilst the values high .. let’s say we where to play him or Adam Armstrong on the right .. I’d actually be really surprised if dibling contributed anything near the goals/assists we got from AA in the championship last time he’s a lot more elegant and skillfull but somehow I doubt he would be more effective at this level atm he’s kinda looking like a luxury player who probably wouldn’t have the impact of Armstrong at this level and at the same time not committing to us anyway .. so doesn’t really seem worth holding
  21. Whilst true that was in 2023 so a chunk of that deal had already gone and that’s before we unleashed him in the premier league … just think if we rated him enough to be starting premier league games it’s a bit naive to expect him to extend once he’s attracted a load of better options
  22. Respect your views but not sure what’s mental about it. I think we would all agree that we would all be happier if he had a couple of years extra on his contract right now. Likewise we should all agree that there would have been more chance of getting him to sign for longer before we gave him a week in week out chance to shine in the premier league ? our position to negotiate with our youngsters is obviously at its strongest before a player starts getting all the hype and interest from other clubs, not to mention their own egos and agents influencing them, so our window for getting this sorted is before not after . im not saying we should tie every youth player to huge long deals but it would be a idea to try and get the ones you think are gonna be potentially top class tied down for a decent length before you start letting them loose . It’s even not a huge risk financially as it’s not like they will be commanding huge wages before they have hardly even got a game, take jay Robinson for example with him we moved very swiftly after his debut to get him tied down to 2029 that’s a extra 2 years over dibling but gives us a lot more control and power if he turns out great . And it’s not gonna be like he’s on huge wages yet so this one we handled a bit better With dibling now if he doesn’t commit to a new deal we start to already be put over a barrel when it come to wanting to keep him or us sticking to our valuation by next season we will be looking at one year left and our valuation starts plummetting .
  23. Don’t care about his value we shouldn’t let players call the shots like this it’s weak and stupid .. Sam amo or jay might have been worth more if we fully blooded them .. I want youngsters that wanna be here if you take the kinda approach that they sign before getting oppurtuities it puts the club in control not the player
  24. I swear if it was me and I rated him highly .. he would have to sign a decent contract before he even gets any game time last year .. reward the ones who sign !. If you don’t wanna sign ok then your oppurtunititess go to Sam amo or jay Robinson if they sign instead..
  25. Hope we are pushing hard to get him to sign a new contract, would be a disappointment if he wouldn’t sign .I’m not usually one for transfer fees but this one seems a tricky one .. if he doesn’t tear up the championship his transfer value could br pretty much half, and contract would be running low too .. really need to try tie him down really and it would have been a good idea to do that before we started giving him all the premiership game time
