  1. Hope this helps: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080824001157AAwbrkw Seems like 100Hz is fine for gaming? Not being a game player myself, I wouldn't know.
  2. Firstly, forgive me for being picky, but it's almost as annoying as someone saying "can you put in your PIN number". Grrrr. It's just "blu ray", not "blu ray DVD". They are entirely different formats, Blu Ray (BD) or DVD. Sorry, had to pull you up on that ... Anyway, may I recommend this: http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/530905/PANASONIC-TX-L32S10B?cm_mmc=Google-_-PPCPM%7c%7cProducts%7c%7cTv%20%26%20dvd-_-Lcd,%20plasma%20%26%20led%20tvs%7c%7cPanasonic%7c%7cPanasonic%20tx-l32s10b%7c%7c530905-_-panasonic%20tx%20l32s10b&_$ja=kw:panasonic+tx+l32s10b|cgn:Lcd%2c+plasma+%26+led+tvs%7c%7cPanasonic%7c%7cPanasonic+tx-l32s10b%7c%7c530905|cgid:1373985876|tsid:12089|cn:PPCPM%7c%7cProducts%7c%7cTv+%26+dvd|cid:41031516|lid:11862394034|mt:Exact|nw:search|crid:3868365486 As verified by this review: http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-televisions/1012905-panasonic-tx-l37s10b-user-review.html You'll have no problems with motion blur and it's JUST in your price range. I have a Panasonic plasma with built in Freesat HD and it's a superb TV, so I would have no hesitation in recommending a Panasonic.
  3. Totally agree!! Top Gear for general entertainment and titting around with motorised vehicles and Fifth Gear (or a Fifth Gear-esque program) that deals with facts and normal cars that normal people drive. I am actually interested in whether the new Mondeo is better than the new Vectra and whether the up and coming Toyota FT86 will be as good fun as it looks like it'll be etc.
  4. I've been using one for the past 7 months - it takes reasonable pictures (certainly good enough to use on Facebook and display on a laptop screen, not sure about printing them off, but could try?), the camera has an LED flash which isn't great in low light and the pictures are grainy, however, it's good enough if you're not wanting to capture amazing, clear shots at night and as a lot of phones don't have a flash, it's good! Internet browsing is very easy and good on it (plus it has HSDPA, '3.5g', which makes browsing even quicker). Messaging and predictive is good - normal approach, fast and easy to use. The touch screen is good, nice and clear and bright, but sometimes lacks responsiveness (compared to an iPhone of HTC Hero). Call quality is fine with good call functions on the screen whilst making calls. The mapping is great, I've even played around with the satnav, plugged in to the bluetooth system in my car with the directions coming through the stereo, seems to work well enough, despite a few random road selections at times. Overall, I think it's a "very good" phone. I certainly prefer it to many others I've played with, including the Tocco and LG GT500 etc. Next on my list as my 2nd mobile line is up for renewal this week is the Sony Ericsson Satio ... however, it has been withdrawn from sale this week due to rubbish software, grrrr.
  5. Now that I'd love to see! However judging by the driving standards of most of the "stars", I can see a fair number of Veyrons being trashed
  6. Totally agree - I watched the first couple of Big Brother shows, but now they are dull, tedious and dare I say it, even more dumbed down than before, if that's possible? I don't mind X Factor if I'm in and don't fancy a film - but what does annoy me is the fact that (you can stick 'apparently' in this sentence if you wish) they audition all the contestants before they are auditioned in front of Simon etc. The TV crew pick the best and worst contestents and anyone who won't make decent TV viewing doesn't get through. I have no idea if this is true or not, but I can imagine it is and therefore makes more of a mockery of the program. I know what you're saying, I guess you can replace X Factor with Noel's House Party? Either way, they are still intended as family entertainment, which is fine, but what bothers me is the silly bickering and the way it's all acted out.
  7. Do you like 'Grumpy Old Men'? I have visions of you sat in a high, wing-backed chair, with slippers, in a dressing gown, complaining about every TV programme on air whilst your poor family all sigh and tut at you In all seriousness, I agree that most TV is complete rubbish, awful in fact. I enjoy the news but I will admit after a day in the office, it's acceptable to cook, clean the house, walk the dogs and then sit down to watch mind-numbing rubbish on TV for an hour or 2 to unwind. So I guess that's the purpose? On the subject of the thread; I thought Top Gear wasn't as funny this week. I laughed at the Dacia being presented, but that's it - I was actually more interested in Romania having gone there in 1994 to see how much it had changed.
  8. On an additional note, anyone wanting a cracking red for £10 ... Morrisons have in Jim Barry's Cover Drive currently. Great value!
  9. The Beaujolais will probably be vinegar by now - open them and see if they are good enough for cooking? Is the Saint Amour a Beaujolais as well, what region is it? It could be okay if it's always been kept in the same location and always at the same temperature (pref under 18 degrees C). To keep wine, it has to be kept fairly still and at a constant temperature with no changes. I have lots of very nice bottles of wine in a cellar unit which is sat at 16 degrees C - it's the only way if you're keeping them long term. I would think that the Macon-Fuisse and Pouilly-Fuisse, being robust, very good quality white wines will be perfectly drinkable, and you'd probably still be able to sell them for around £20 a bottle, depending on the exact producer. Again, the caveat is the way they've been stored, not been moved and constant temperature. I have no idea what the Saints-Varen is?? Any more details?
  10. No, it's not meaningless at all. In the Benali and Dodd days, Dodd was team captain and Benali was club captain - it was his job to meet and great new players and so on.
  11. Good post, agree!
  12. I saw, what I can guess would be a hideously expensive numberplate (something like 'J 7') on a 10 year old Rover 75. Why?? Best plate I've seen recently is on a bright yellow Ferarri round the corner from my London office. Black windows, reg 'SPY 500' - just makes me chuckle.
  13. Weird, I was wondering similar the other day ... my car speedo was reading 70mph, yet the digital speed reading on the car's trip computer said 67mph. I assumed the digital reading was correct?
  14. I think I got my 1st one in 1993 when I was at college and 17. It was a Panasonic phone, analogue, with 9 minutes talk time. Fab! The 1st mobile phone I remember using was in my Uncle's car in the mid-80s, a proper car phone, with a cable that came from the armrest. I remember people being amazed when we phoned up "5 minutes down the road". Great days, simple fun!
  15. That show was hildarious and a bit sad. It was hilarious as Griffin was shown up to be even more of a tw*t than people thought and also not very good at answering without a script. It was also hilarious the way Bonnie Greer just calmly destroyed him, leaving him grinning like a loathsome, squirmy, little man wanting to really be stood on a 1 foot high stage (to give him some height) talking to 40 or 50 people in a room who actually agree with him, verbatim. The star was definitely Bonnie Greer, she was fantastic. Also liked the other lady (sorry, didn't remember her name). Straw was average, and the lib dem totally annoymous. But Griffin ... hahahahaha ... you horrible, loathsome little man, you were shown up. "I can't explain why I used to say those things". Brilliant, slogan of 2009!

  17. Well that Neal Lawson is full of sh*t isn't he: "Best Customer Service 09 October 2009 Winner: Virgin Media There's no stopping Virgin Media who win this award for a ninth consecutive yearWe " Bloody idiot. The CWU are disgraceful.
  18. As an employee within the Post Office, you are the public face. People hand their parcels to you and some pick them up from you. Therefore, when they say "you have lost my parcel", they are of course entirely right. YOU work for the Post Office, you are the public face, therefore, you are the Post Office as far as they're concerned. Why don't you have a little more understanding for how old Mrs Tibbins who gave her parcel to you 3 weeks ago, is feeling, when her great grandson hasn't received his present. I get the same in what I do with who I work for and I'm not even an employee of the company. But it's to be expected; as it turns out, I AM able to get things fixed and looked in to (as The9 can testify), so as the public face of the Post Office, you are the one helping them out and are solely responsible. Don't tell me, you never whinge to the person serving you in Tesco about the price of sprouts, you don't complain about the price of petrol to the guy in Shell, you don't moan about your mobile reception to the guy in T-Mobile, you wouldn't ever phone your Electricity provider about losing power for 10 minutes. They all really care, they really do, honestly ...
  19. I shop in my local farm shop for meat, fruit and veg and therefore tend to stick to what's seasonal. It's not cheap, in fact compared to nipping in to any supermarket it's hideously expensive, but I'd rather keep the local economy going. I do use supermarkets, I'm not brand loyal, but prefer Sainsburys, however I don't really bother with Fair Trade items as I buy what I think tastes nice; Twinings, Yorkshire Tea, Tea Pigs and various other smaller brands. One of the Co-op Fair Trade wines is nice, but I don't buy it for that reason, I buy it because it tastes nice. I grow my own veg, I have a pair of green wellies and I drive totally the opposite to a Prius. Am I confused, or are stereotypes just boll*cks?
  20. Because it's the right and proper thing to do and it was an accident which she obviously apologised for by offering to pay? She never did it on purpose and accidents DO happen. No one was hurt and it wasn't major. I thought you'd be better than that in all honesty. This country is full of dishonesty, it's very frustrating. Only last Friday night, I was in a pub where I got £50 cash back. They gave me the cash and the receipt, only I realised the receipt totalled £10.20, which was just the drinks bill. I could have walked away, £50 up. But no, I immediately highlighted that they'd forgotten to put the cash back through on the card reader. Do the right thing and do it as cheaply as possible, but obviously to a condition whereby you are satisfied. Something else I have no respect for is the lovely person who keyed my new car. I dispair of lack of social morals - but they are both new stories.
  21. Very well said. I, like many others in the past year took a 10% rate (or pay if you're a permie) cut, just to stay in contract and keep an income and still work just as hard, if not harder, to prove my worth.
  22. I would like to massively disagree that just because you pay a lot of money to send your children to a "posh" school, it doesn't mean they have the best teachers. Teachers in state schools actually have to be qualified teachers, for a start ... "1. Do I need a teaching qualification to teach in a private school? private schools are permitted to set their own requirements with regard to qualifications so, unlike state schools, a teaching qualification is not insisted upon. However, times are changing. While previously a private school might have been happy to appoint a teacher on the basis of their academic credentials alone, it is now more likely the case that they prefer teachers to be qualified and experienced."
  23. I normally move slightly to allow them to pass if the traffic is heavy and slower than the speed limit. However, why should I move over if I'm doing the speed limit? Seems a bit silly really.
