I've got beans, parsley, lettuce (various), herbs, hot peppers, toms: not too bad for a balcony. Actually strawberries sound good: might go to the market on Tuesday to see if I can get a few plants. Being on the 4th floor means I don't have a slug problem!

Given the age of many of you, best if I don't.

Quite a number of Villa fans. On the subject of the Lens chairman, I think he's being perfectly reasonable. Not sure what the French is for "taking the ****"...

Good point... I can drive it in a day, so better check the ferries. Or make it to Cherbourg and hitch a ride to the Solent: better bring my Day Skipper and DSC Radio tickets! You're a bit stuffed in Dubai and the Magic Kingdom though.;-)

Welll, just home (in the morning 1.30 local) after popping out for an apperitivo at 6.30ish! I'd been in the lounge practising the flute this afternoon and came back to the second half thread where it all seemed very depressed. I started scrolling through the match thread and getting increasingly depressed as the game drew to a close. Then SaintLard posted and I thought, if you are wrong I'll kill you, slowly.... But he was right!! So the impossible hope continues and I'm keeping an eye on flghts home...

It's occasionally worth going to the OS: BArnard on for Antonio (46).

Well, I'll go and practise my flute: it worked for Paris last week with his guitar... Back later.

Indeed! To be honest perch and pike taste much better and gudgeon make a great fry up. They also eat tench here in Italy although it's a very localised dish. As for chub, the only recipe I know talks about baking it between two boards, then throw away the chub and eat the boards. I've never had mirror carp but it's always been a staple of continental fish farming: a source of protein you can raise anywhere. The best fish I've had is extremely fresh mackerel and extremely fresh tuna (when we eventually landed it on the yacht I was crewing). To be honest, I reckon mackerel shade it.

Ha! Not if you teach English in Italy. Mind you, I do have savings which I'd be prepared to spend for something worthwhile....
-
Hmmm, how many can you cram in a Westerly Centaur; they'll not get you as wet as a Sadler... I may have a course to teach on Mondays so it would be a pain getting there and back from Italy. Doing no planning for any trip yet as I think it _highly_ unlikely, but, but GM you bastard, raising the thought!;-)

Gawd, the things those casinos do to keep you there losing money!
-
Quote from the Pompey trust meeting regarding season ticket prices: "AA pointed out that money is needed to update the stadium." Hmm, shame not much was done with all the money swilling around earlier. Still, some footballers were made very rich (let alone owners and directors...).

too good to last...

or his cruciates...

Bastard!;-). Wait till you get one of my tackles...

The OS says high shot 20 yds...

Can anybody describe the goal??

The first of many for us ... I hope!!

All right then, I'll pour mine over your head.

"Ladies queue for fashion tips at the Matalan Fashion Doctor stand" Go home at once! Can't see any fit enough to get in my women's football team!

[quote=dubai_phil;687046 What it really needs are some of our wiser more other forum savvy members starting to explain things in detail on the forums of other fans such as Hull, Burnley, West Ham especially, but also well managed (financially) teams like Bolton, Wigan, Birmingham etc. Get the Geordie hordes onside - they saw what "living in their means" did to their club last season at the expense of the cheats. The anger needs to come from OTHER clubs. The basic details of this story need to be told. Journalists should be given a precis of the salient points and our thought processes from this thread. Becoming a whingeing Pom again is not something I am interested in. I gave up when I gave up being an Uberfan Now that IS a good idea! Must admit life is too short for wasting too much time on the subject, but it is fascinating, like watching a car crash. Might go skiing tomorrow, work and playing footie on Wednesday so I'll leave it to the other forum visitors..

Some complaints might even come from abroad... Alpine, Dubai, Eric...?
