  1. Now I _know_ you're joking..;-)
  2. What's the situation with Crystal Palace, they seem to have as few players under contract as Portsmouth..? I had a Newcastle United article come up on my feed and they haven't signed anyone yet, are said to have a budget set by Ashley of £10m and have lost Willock who made such an impact for them on loan from Arsenal last season. So whilst I share the general concern about Saints at least there are fans from other clubs similarly worrying!
  3. Better than Portsmouth then? He certainly hasn't got the skill/touch we expect, so I hope the toughening up process of playing first team football in L1, no doubt beneficial, is accompanied by extra tuition on control and touch.
  4. LOL. Ok guys, I get the message. šŸ™‚
  5. I think balance of payment is needed by tomorrow. I've just paid for mine and circumstances permitting I'll be going. Our concourses are pretty well ventilated anyway, compared with crowded pubs and I'll probably wear a mask like @kwsaint. I haven't yet addressed the issue of the pre-match meet up and pint as my friends are even more decrepit than I am. Just hope the fitness from being probably the only pensioner playing in the Hampshire County Women's League gives me some measure of protection!
  6. I haven't had any reminder but as it happens I went into my account only last night and it says, for the various types (renewal, new, etc.) the timetable. Renewals are to be paid by the 15th July. At least the hit wasn't so bad as I used the balance left from last season as a sort of savings account! Might be a good idea to check your own account.
  7. Really, that bad? Have to say that the name hasn't impinged on my consciousness before but then I don't watch much other football.
  8. The last two posts sum up the dilemma really. I'd probably prefer to keep Lemina and hoik him for Smallbone or similar if he shows signs of having one of 'those' games on Danbert's basis that he can potentially be good but Mo never has. Has his time at Celtic helped him: presumably we will see in pre-season, and Ralph will be watching them with a particularly beady eye..?
  9. Sod me, the apologists are out in force today.
  10. Terry Hurlock
  11. First time I've been on this thread and I don't normally buy shirts; the last I got was free via a local wholesaler dishing out shirts for large spends. The orange goalkeeper shirt looks a good bet for when I'm out locally running errands on my bicycle: always good to be highly visible!
  12. Whilst I tend to agree that he should be better, particularly last season defensively, the photo above jumping with Kane shows that he can do it. I've always thought that it's his timing, not his actual jumping ability, that is lacking a bit.
  13. Wince...
  14. Did you have to? šŸ˜‰ I remember Branfoot on the matter.. I seem to recall Redknapp playing well when he wasn't injured and yes, Hughes was deeply disappointing wherever he was playing. There are players who continue to show their class as they age - Sheringham of course, and Hately showed it for Portsmouth at Alan Knight's testimonial, but best you don't remind us of some of those above!
  15. Looks like a poem by Les Barker...
  16. I've not had the pleasure of listening to Sam Matterface, but listening to Dead Ringers on Radio 4 they had a sketch featuring a Harry Kane saying the worse thing about the game was 90 minutes and then extra time listening to SM.. So the opinion expressed here seems pretty universal!
  17. "Stop pretending I’m on ignore you weirdo" Whoops, thanks for reminding me I wasn't logged in. šŸ™‚ Pity JWP wasn't on the pitch.. /ducks and grins/
  18. I've been messaging my Italian friends and there's celebrating and fireworks there. Doesn't surprise me: I was living there in 2006 at the time of the WC and that was manic! (ISTR...)
  19. As long as JWP still gets to take the free kicks over Ronaldo..
  20. I was actually hoping for a reply from LD, but thank you for all the suggestions...
  21. Pity they don't take a blowtorch to the Fratton seats and leave it going for a bit longer. A few years ago my women's football team went to watch a women's international against Turkey. The first team keeper sat down on one of the seats and it collapsed underneath her.. I'd already heard about the legendary loos so didn't need to go. Mind you, I suspect they were better than those at The Dell which were appalling if you were a beer drinker..
  22. I think this is is probably my view, having been a teacher for a while, differentiation and all that.. What Egg was saying about what the club were saying is certainly true, but guidelines should always be flexible, and as The Cat touched on, there are plenty of examples of loan spells really helping. In the case of Ramsay not a clue although he seemed to have the basic physical attributes when I saw him live. Gawd knows we need some back up full backs!
  23. Perhaps the point should be made that we want our loanees to get plenty of playing time, which will be more likely at a lower level. It'll still help with his match fitness and toughening him up against seasoned, mature professionals in proper games, not some u-23 training type game.
