  1. Reading that article I didn't realise he was 31. Let's hope playing on those hard pitches and a bit of jet lag do enough to blunt his edge even if he didn't pick up a knock.
  2. Yep, I think so. Quite a number of FA cup wins too. I don't have any particular knowledge but I suspect that some of the large wins they are having at this level are due to their very professional set up and training a lot more, that makes a difference to skills but particularly fitness. Getting teams to train more than twice a week isn't feasible when players are essentially amateur, although even the time with one team I trained twice a week made a difference to my game (it was hockey at school!). But getting promotion would certainly make a big difference to the standard and exposure and they certainly seem on course at the moment.
  3. So they waited until 25 minutes into the match to stop it.. Bit of a shambles by all parties it seems.
  4. Thanks for that. It's been appallingly badly publicised as that's the first mention I've seen and I've just put in on my club's group chat. Nothing I can see on the OS, and you'd think the club would want a good attendance as it would (should?) reflect well on them, if they can organise it properly...
  5. Well, having been the _only_ person in 25+ years of my being on the internet that I have ever put on ignore I can only go on the threads he starts and the threads he has contributed to, but he does seem rather interested in LGBT and racist topics. I just think 'what a sad mucker' and move on. On the occasions I forget to sign in and see some posts in which he occasionally has something sensible to say about the football it proves he's not a complete { choose yourself } but my goodness, he's hard work and an unpleasant character. Edit: what I posted was based on the little I read at the start of the thread. Is the poor fellow now feeling picked on? The "man/woman/non specific" I've just seen quoted would suggest he just can't help it.
  6. The story I heard was that Rupert, who sanctioned his arrival, asked one of the coaches to go and find out about him. The immediate response was "He's cr*p!". How do you know?" asks Mr Lowe... "It's my job to know..". He still arrived with the outcome we all know about.
  7. Yep, it's a concern, but I only saw the news when I read about the Ireland line-up; nothing from Saints..
  8. Not exactly an injury but I see Long can't play for Ireland as he's tested positive for covid..
  9. From a Newcastle fan.. "Great news I've heard Newcastle United are signing Neymar! That's Neymar defenders, Neymar midfielders and Neymar strikers."
  10. Yep! Except Flightradar24 shows aircraft tracks and it's easy to check where they've come from. Sloppy work Jeremy! :-) Mind you, I know a two seater helicopter without the tracking equipment, just a squawk for ATC, so that would be the best bet. Or back to the ol' superyachts in the Solent..
  11. Ooh, so they will. I was round aged mum's when the 2-0 came up on her telly, which led me to comment that their manager would be on the way soon. She knows enough about football to have given me an extra phone call about the 8-0 win! Comment on The Guardian MBM: "Poor Cedric and his utter uselessness."
  12. I thought it might be.. 🙂 (Edit: with _that_ beard?)
  13. I mentioned in my comment on the MU game that I wondered if that was the rationale for having KWP on the bench. I'd agree with your comment apart from the Long bit... how about Broja?
  14. Does Factless Allen use bigger words and longer paragraphs than he does in his articles?
  15. They probably sent them to Hell..
  16. For basically a second team that was good: a Newport fan BTL elsewhere was commenting on our speed and off the ball running. Everybody thinks they can get a place in the first 11 and are making the effort to be there: long may it continue. I don't think we'll be so worried by injuries this season either with that backup.
  17. Has anyone seen The9?
  18. The good point about the discussion in that podcast is that the journalist was commenting that he's now a dad and wishes to settle down a bit. Torino's a nice place with a bit more going on than Southampton (which TBF is not difficult) but he won't get the grief from fans he did there. Shouldn't his nickname be The Wolf? Lyancothropy anyone?
  19. Hurrah! My season ticket has just arrived!
  20. That's easy enough to understand!
  21. You've needed a goal scorer for a while now.. We know early season form can be deceptive but I think you'll be alright too. Perhaps Arsenal are this year's dark horse, although I don't see Arteta seeing the event..
  22. It hasn't..
  23. Perhaps someone got a kickback buying a new system as the old one worked well. I wonder if my st has arrived with today's post.. Another comment on the matchday experience: screens didnt work until well into the match and with a poor quality and the PA on the mobile mic was useless.
