Did Kelvin miss the World Cup by staying?
Hopkins replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
But all better than Davis? A Davis that at best could have sneaked into the West Ham team if Green had a stinker during the season. Which he didn't. He's only stinker came last night. He's a pretty good keeper tbf. Hence my point you tool. -

Hopkins replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
Do you seriously have to ask why its ridiculous? Why a League One goalkeeper might have sneaked into the England World Cup squad? Even if he had gone to West Ham, the best he would have done is made himself number one there, although thats debatable as Green is better and actually had a pretty good season. If he had gone and made himself number one, you seriously think Capello would have even glanced at the ageing keeper who's just sneaked himself ahead of a struggling goalkeeper in a struggling team in his first season back in the Prem since he had an absolute shocker with Sunderland and was practically bombed out? I mean, our Keepers are pretty toilet but the very idea that you'd even think about Kelvin being even looked at let alone picked for the squad ahead of Robinson, Green, Foster and Kirkland (Amongst others I can't be arsed to think of that have been in and around the England squad (inc Under 21's) and Prem teams alot longer than Davis would have been) is absurd. -

Best thread ever. Alpines genuine reply is just as awesome! -
Anybody got any tips for top team goalscorers. So far I have Novakovic (Slovenia), Mphela (SA) and Jong Tae-Se (North Korea), if I add Bendtner to that, from £20 I get a return of £2526. Before I confirm I'm looking for a couple more tips.

Different Ownership and Managment, same old summer
Hopkins replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Slightly different seeing as I can watch the England games on TV, Alpine doesn't watch the Saints games on TV and nor do I believe he watches them on Saints Player even though they are available to him. Also i'd like to point out I find England more comically entertaining at the moment rather than any kind of passion. Therefore my opinion is I don't really give a hoot about England's world cup campaign. I certainly don't find myself interested in it anywhere near I do Southampton. -
Semi just got back from Vegas with Gillet, James and Lancashire. True Story.

Tbf, the first two pages are people replying to your point and ridiculing it and you because of how ridiculous it is. Then you picking and choosing who to reply to and not actually answering many of the points made by the replies, instead resorting to internet "crying" and claiming your being abused unfairly. I don't know who the biggest mugs are in this thread though. You for making another horrific point or the people who have replied. 3 pages for someone who doesn't even attend matches ffs. Haha. Genius. -
Well no because at no point did I mention Spurs did I? He's what Bale was for US, not Spurs. Us. Bale for us was our outlet, our main attacking threat, we'd ping to him and he'd go on a mazy run and put the ball in the box so our attackers could get on the end of it. That's whay Dickson was for Brentford. There main attacking threat.
-
Think he was referring to the League One team of the year tbf.
-
Glasgow Saint has a point tbf. Ask any teams fan they will claim there left back is the best. I've watched a bit of Brentford this season and Dickson is better than Harding. Hth. Harding, for all his solid qualities is not as capable as Dickson going forward (Many Brentford fans will tell you Dickson is a bit like Bale to us a few years ago...There best attacking threat) and Dickson is just as solid defensively. I'd rather have Dickson but with him competing with Harding can only be good.
-
He's the best left back in the league and my mates favourite player. Fantastic signing for both reasons.
-
So posting for the sake of it? Utterly utterly pointless even trying to speculate about something which may or may not happen. Like I said...Well done.
-
What delay? It says it will be out in the next few days, until the next few days are over, there is no delay. So there is no delay to speculate about. Just posting for the sake of it. Well done.

St Etienne interested in Schneiderlin
Hopkins replied to forever a red and white's topic in The Saints
We'll get a lot more than 1m for our best player I hope. My player of the season last year and the sole reason we were entertaining to watch at times. Without him we were dire. -
4th Jan. 2010. Hth. Although the fact he turned them down probably shows he'll never consider joining us.
-
Firstly. In answer to your second point - Because he's probably one of the best left backs in the league? If it was Ashley Cole available on a free would you still not be excited because he's not a right back? Your first point - Your mind is wrong if you think thats logical. We all know Pardew and Cortese had a meeting last week. In that meeting no doubt that they discussed how much money they had to spend and where it is needed to go. Also any free targets would have been mentioned. When they are signed doesn't matter. It would be just plain stupid for Pardew to sign someone then think "Right, what next...A right back...Oh poo we have no money left" That isn't what is happening. It isn't FM. They know where they have to strengthen, they know the importance of each position and they know the money they have to do it. If we sign Dickson before anyone else (Which by the way, is only speculation right now, although i'm pretty certain it will happen) then it won't be because Pardew targeted a left back first. It will be because that deal was available before another deal and was concluded first.
-
Yes but you are assuming that we are doing it in some sort of order. When you say "We should START by getting in players where we are weak" you are assuming that Pardew and Cortese are going through a checklist and have decided that Dickson is first. You have no idea who and where they are wanting to sign and you have no idea the importance of each signing they have placed them in. We only know about Dickson because its been picked up by the media. You also need to understand that Dickson is out of contract therefore he will become available before players who are in contract. Pardew and Cortese have probably not said that Dickson is there target then they move onto the next one. That is what you are assuming is happening. It is not. i

It makes me laugh that people genuinely think that Pardew and Cortese at sat at home only focusing on Dickson as a possible signing. Not at all thinking about Midfield, Right back another striker etc. They will be looking to strengthen all areas where they feel it is possible. To seriously not understand that shows a complete lack of common sense. I'll be over the moon if we get Dickson. I love Harding but from what I have seen of Dickson and from what I have heard he will create a real challenge for places down the whole left side as his attacking play is better than Hardings. There is nothing wrong with signing players for positions we are already strong in. It's called improving the team.
-
Dickson would not be a back up hth. He's probably the best left back in the league. I love Harding but having watched Brentford more than most this season (My housemate is a Brentford fan) I can tell you now than Dickson attacking wise is much better and is probably as solid as Harding too. Brentford defensive record is very good (Mainly down to the Arsenal Keeper it must be said) and losing Dickson is going to be a massive blow to them (My housemate and his mates are gutted). Remember he's the player that skinned half our team in the game at St Marys, I can't remember but I think he had a hand in the goal at there place too. He's there biggest attacking threat according to my housemate, sounds very much like Bale was for us in 2006.
-
Peterborough will be our biggest threat. Closely followed by Sheff Wed, Brighton and Millwall if they stay down.

Andrew Surman Has Been Told He Can Leave.
Hopkins replied to View From The Top's topic in The Saints
Are you a Saints fan or not? Everyone knows he was sold by administrators. You idiot. It has nothing to do with Lowe. -
Nobody posted about how West Ham have already confirmed that this list is fake? Although people baffled at Mido will be shocked to hear that he really is only getting paid £1k a week. When he agreed to sign he agreed he'd do it on the cheap as he is already one of the richest players in the league and he was just grateful for the chance to play.

He's pretty much a shoe in for a contract at Fulham. HTH. -
He's probably not that bad when you consider he is currently winning Championship medals in Belgium, playing in Europe and has represented his country 20 plus times. hth.
