‘Must play when fit’. i fucking hate this club at the moment
-
Bednarek. For fuck sake. I give up
-
If Maddison plays they win. I'm convinced a lot of our malaise is caused by too many players more concerned about their next moves and not getting injured than pulling their fingers out and trying to keep us up. Hope we beat Leicester but we are so massively shit, with players in charge, not the manager, so fully expect another half hearted attempt at football and predictable, lifeless loss.

Games like this offer the opportunity to show that, whatever the opposition, Adam Armstrong always looks ABSOLUTE TRASH
-
Truly terrible attempt by Mara. Think I could have scored that.
-
Think this is actually very important for us to set the tone. If we come out lethargic and with odd team selections, even Grimsby might be problematic if they harry and press and we're not up for it or are at all billy big boots about this tie. It may come back to bite us. Instead, I hope Selles has them fired up to go for the kill from the off, or risk the lethargic half empty home support to get to them. Perish the thought that they are right up for it and take the lead. This needs to be a convincing 3-0 win with a concentration on no-nonsense defending (CC please), loads of chances, and most of them taken. All to set us up for the more important Leicester game.

Is there any possibility that the reason we keep playing the useless Janny B is because he has something weird in his contract like 'must play when fit' or is that always balls? I'm struggling to think of any possible reason why Selles likes him, and wonder if that was a condition of his recall from Villa. If he plays any more I think that a) we are definitely down and b) there is way too much control of players beyond the manager, which always means trouble For me, we need to install Caleta Car in as the first name in the defence, alongside Bella-Kotchap, with Perraud and KWP. That's a decent defence. Build from that. Can't see any way we can avoid leaking goals like a sieve without it. Maybe even get Willy in in goal for a bit as Bazanu's confidence must be all over the place.

Maybe we will start playing free attacking football once it is clear we are down. And then we might actually pick up points. And then resort to the safety first Raph bollocks Selles has lapsed back into. We probably need to start thinking about puttting the building blocks together towards creating an actual team rather than a bunch of mercenaries who are almost certainly all thinking about their next club rather than fighting for this one, JWP included. Only takes 1 or 2 per cent below par and pulling out of those 50 50s for it all to add up to meh and Bednarek fuck ups losing games. Oh for a bit of bloody bravery.

In other news, Danny Ings. At least Everton are losing. this Selles bloke is useless 😀 it’s all over, folks. Time to rebuild for the championship.

Sounds like we're not remotely at the races. Mind you, it is TalkSport (2). It's the hope that kills.

As annoying as it is to see Bednarek’s name there, to have an unchanged lineup seems sensible to me. Reward great results. Even Ralph used to drop players after they’d scored. Good to see Cc back in the fold. Encouraging. Same line ups breeds confidence and consistency.

Have to say this is probably quite good timing, as regards the Leeds prep. And he does seem to have the crucial respect of the players, which is probably half the battle. A good appointment, on the face of it, but let's see how we feel tomorrow evening...
-
Personally think that's good too as I think we play better without him, generally. A goalscorer who is not, um, very good at scoring goals. Go figure...
-
Hoping it's a good sign that Caleta Car and Orsic are (I think) pictured in the training photos tweet/insta. Rapprochement, one would hope. Need to ensure as much opportunity to be Bednarekless as possible
-
I think we will draw this 1-1 and that will not be a disaster. Obviously hope we go for it full on and get the win, but the last thing we can afford is a loss in this 6 pointer. Leeds will be in my view one of those we will be fighting to push into that bottom three, along with Bournemouth and one other. Won't be Everton now after they did what we should have at the start of the season. Oh well. Perhaps Palace might slide? If it isn't us, not sure who.
-
Stu makes us a completely different proposition in a positive way. Supplies such energy and transition. I happen to think that not having Che near the team does too, but that's a different matter.

That was a terrific performance (so nice to wake up not with that sinking feeling on a Sunday), but the most pleasing thing for me was the fighting manner of it. Perraud's reactions on the line, Maitland Niles throwing everything at it, and the clear sense that all the players really wanted it for their manager at the end. First time i've seen that togetherness. Very good sign that Selles perhaps is the man. Hell, even Theo played pretty well. Still need to get Caleta Car back onside, however. Hope he has the charm button fully engaged this week. Think Orsic might be sulking about how he's made the wrong move or something.Ah well. Still wouldn't start Bednarek, and Adam Armstrong did some pretty brainless fouls when he came on, but that was a really encouraging performance with togetherness that augurs well for the rest of the season. Beat Leeds and they should just award Selles the job straight away. One last thing - need to see Saints as much as possible before the end of the season because not sure we stand a cat in hell's chance of keeping Lavia, who looks like one of the very best around.

At least it makes the accumulator easier
-
We just want someone who can select the right players, in their right positions. Is it so much to fucking well ask?
-
Bednarek. Astonishing.
-
Wanker. Only joking. Appreciate the work mods do. i reckon she does squirt too, though.
-
Siri, show me what a continuing shambles is Southampton would be happy for interim manager Ruben Selles to take charge until the end of the season, but the club will take their time before making any decision #saintsfc

Agreed. The pretty stuff comes next season. Unless we have to go for just 'big blokes' in the Championship. True. They have been for ages. Well run, throughout the club. And an owner who can play the 'stats' properly.
