No worries, it wasn't long ago that I was taking similar advice. It's addictive, my first race was the Great South Run in 2013, I just entered it to get fit and lose some weight at the time. Before all that I was 4 stone heavier than I am now, I smoked and drank too much. I got completely hooked and started learning about proper training, and started running marathons and halfs. At Great South Run 2014 I was 14 mins quicker than the year before and got in the top 300. If I can do that then anyone can with a bit of decent training!

Well done Goatboy. Beer is the best recovery fuel I find, just drink loads of water later and when the DOMS really kicks in. All this racing today has made me really jealous, as well as inspired. Can't wait to get over this injury and get back out there. A bloke from my club ran a 2:33 PB today. 5:50 pace. Absolutely unreal, I can't run 5k at that pace, it's amazing that people can keep it up for 42k!

Need 3 wins out of 4 to finish ahead of Spurs I reckon. Massive shame today, I thought we did enough to beat them. S.Davis has been brilliant for us but poor in the last month or so. Needs dropping. I feel we're paying for not having a better back-up GK too. I love Kelv but I'm certain FF and even Boruc would've saved both of Spurs attempts today.

Riviera Maya, Mexico was really good. Decent value too for trans-Atlantic. Further South the better as its further from Cancun. Tulum and Playa del Carmen were great. Beautiful beaches, good food and drink. I'd go back. There were a fair few Canadians, but mainly French ones. There were lots of cases of them topping up their personal beer coolers at the bar rather than having it out of a glass like everyone else, but we didn't let it bother us.

I've got a spare race number too after getting injured. If anyone wants it, let me know. Mehball - you can't get away with that. It's chip timed, and you'd get picked up at the finish if not well before, it'll be well marshalled. Not to mention it's a ****ty thing to do when everyone around you is paying for the privilege

There were Pardew out campaigns after pretty much every defeat, they were always on his back.

I love that they've fallen apart since Pardew left. Palace will surely finish well above Newcastle now which is funny. Got to feel a bit sorry for them they way Ashley is and runs the club, but they were stupid to hound Pardew out like that so the sympathy is limited.

I got a ballot place for London with my first attempt too! It's so rare though. That was for last year, didn't get in this year so ran Barcelona instead, highly recommended. I'll be in the ballot for London again, if not I think it'll be Manchester or Brighton, unless I get talked into another jaunt abroad for one. Some sound advice there from Jason, I've been guilty of not doing the slow stuff slow enough. I've never used HRM but believe I now get into the right zones. Good luck everyone running this weekend.

Great effort. I've got 2 marathons under my belt, but both have ended up with me being injured. My next target is sub-3 but I really need a few months solid training without time out injured. Barcelona was a month ago and I'm having trouble with my knee so won't be running on Sunday. Gutted.

I'm going to start getting on the bike now after getting my latest marathon and recovery out of the way. I'm working nights for the next couple of months so will have some nice afternoons to get out and about and plan to start building up towards 50+ mile weekend rides. Decided to cycle down to Hill Head and Lee on Solent today as the weather was so good. Nice ride for my first one in a while - 39km, 27.5 kph ave. Minuscule mileage compared to some of you guys, but got to start somewhere. Only my second ride since putting the clipless pedals on, makes such a difference.

Pretty amazing to be talking about this with 6 games to go. We'd pretty much have to win our next 5 to give ourselves the chance on the final day, and we're not playing well enough for that sort of thing IMO. Still, if we can run city close then we've got a great chance of finishing ahead of Spurs and/or Liverpool
