I'm in for Gosport now too, I'm looking forward to testing myself at that distance. I ran 13.1 miles on Sunday to get the miles in my legs - 1:57:30 and felt pretty good at that slowish pace. I think I can shave at least 10 mins off that. The only thing that does concern me is the boring route and the fact they've reiterated no iPods/MP3s when the race numbers were sent out, due to traffic and being able to hear marshalls. I always have my headphones in for long runs, could get a bit boring out there. Good luck Keith, hope it's another good run.

It'd be great to turn up there with 11 changes and turn them over. Can't see it, but I'm sure it'll be at least competitive.

Class act, crazy that he's only 18. Hope he stays free of injury, seems to get a lot of niggles.

I'm with Bearsy. Too ugly for the current regime IMO.

Expecting to win due to current form is completely different to arrogance. I think that's lost on some. I expect us to beat Hull next weekend, probably with a clean sheet. Am I arrogant? No.

Double post FFS.

I thought he was. Came on and got dispossessed when we were committing men forward a couple of times in the first few minutes through dawdling on the ball, picked te wrong pass a few other times rather than just keeping us moving up the pitch. A couple of decent touches here and there but I thought we completely lost out attacking intent when he came on. Yes, part of that was J-Rod going off, but GR just doesn't seem to know how we want to play. There was one point he dropped off to pick up the ball, gave it short (to Morgan I think) then made a run back towards the ball out towards the right and just seemed to get in the way. Best bit of closing down I've seen from him but not really what we looking for as we were in possession. I know he's got some ability, but I just can't ever see him getting it right for us.

Good performance, lacked the final ball though. Wanyama immense, Boruc unlucky. Gaston changed the game for us, we completely lost our attacking shape when he came on. Too slow on the ball, again. Trying the really tricky pass every time, again. Frustrating in the end, but still 1 defeat in 10. Win at home next week and we'll still be flying.

Have a quick browse at their forum. You'll find they're not confident, they're unfit, the atmosphere has been awful at the Brit, and bar turning up for an hour at Old Trafford, they haven't been very good. Was just saying what I saw.

Tongue in cheek. For me. Everything is pointing at a Saints win, so we probably won't. I'm still having trouble getting away from that old Saints mentality that whenever things are looking up, we'll inexplicably balls it up.

It's a tough one, I think JWP has got a great chance of starting again. Much more of an attacking threat than Davis as well with his delivery. I fancy us to dominate the midfield and have plenty of the ball, so there would be less of a need for someone like Davis doing more dirty work. Morgan & Wanyama vs N'zonzi & Whelen/Palacios. No contest. They're powerful at CB with Huth and Shawcross, but they haven't been great this season by all accounts. I know nothing about Pieters (LB), but the form Lallana is in, he's in for a tough game. Geoff Camerson is their RB, and sh*t. J-Rod will be at least a handful for him. They've got some useful players going forward - that Arnautovic looks handy, Crouch is always a danger, Assaidi too. But then they've also got Charlie Adam, Kenwyne Jones, and Jon 'Barndoor' Walters, who I'm fairly sure has never scored anything but an own goal. They had 120 mins midweek (against a sh*t Birmingham city), and we're absolutely flying. We should be far too much for them. Stoke 3-0 Southampton

It seemed that lots of them had decided they'd be fine in the orange wave as well and got near the front, then caused lots of traffic over the first couple of miles. I started about 3/4 of the way back in the orange, and it was quite a frustrating start, quite a lot of weaving and overtaking to be done. I've also now entered the Gosport half, cheap and local so I thought I'd give it a shot. Guaranteed PB as well having never done that distance!

Boruc Clyne Fonte Lovren Shaw Morgan Wanyama Lallana JWP J-Rod Lambert Davis Chambers Yoshida Ramirez Cork Davis Osvaldo Strong.

Looks like Stoke ran out of steam in the middle of the second half. They put a fairly strong side out too. Can only bode well for us. Maybe asking a lot for another clean sheet, but I've backed us to win to nil at 5/2 anyway.

Top work Keith, great effort. It's good to have that benchmark now for you to consider your pacing for future events.

That's all good then. A friend said that she'd not taken an iPod to a local 10k after seeing that they were not permitted, but said there were plenty of people using them. I'll go with that then, I won't be anywhere near the club runners so shouldn't be an issue.
-
Haha. That's not just a stick to hit them with because we think they're c*nts, they really do live in a sh*thole.

Thanks WC, will give that some thought. Although you say I had some in the tank, I was absolutely f*cked at mile 9, it took loads to keep going at that pace. When you know you've only got a couple of hundred metres to go you find that little bit more, there's no way I could've managed even another half mile of that though. Something I've noticed about these smaller events is that they all state no iPods/headphones, but I've heard that it's not always enforced? Does anyone know much about that from experience? I've always got my headphones in when out running, it's a good distraction and keeps me from boredom on those longer runs.

Top work Minty! I need to start looking for some smaller events over the winter to keep me focused. I've got the London marathon to look forward to and I'll do the Reading half on March 2nd, bit they're a long way off so need something to keep the focus. I hear the Stubbington 10k is a decent one, that's Jan 19th. I was thinking about the Gosport half but that's only 3 weeks away and I've never run a half. I imagine I'd be fine if I dropped to 9 min miles but still seems a bit soon. Anybody know of any good local 10m or half marathon events over the winter?

1:19:54 for me. The start and finish were hideous! Hailstorm between the warmup and start, the wind and rain on the last 2 miles was something else! My target was 1:20, had to really get my head down and sprint the last 3-400 to beat it, amazing feeling getting over the line though! Never been more exhausted at the end of a run. St John's ambulance were busy today.

I wasn't slating him, I think he's useful enough on his day. I just hope we get the skates away in the cup at some point, Guly comes on as a late sub, Guly scores, you know the rest... -

How is do Prado doing? Famously scored a hat trick away at Palamos in pre season causing wild pitch invasions from the travelling support, and had about 3 touches of the ball in competitive games since. Cult hero
