  1. How many games have you been to this season Professor? I'm asking because I've been to about six and the crowd have been brilliant at all of them...especially considering the fact that things have been going steadily downhill for the last 5 years. There can't be many clubs in the Football League that have witnessed such a relentless tide of bad results, board decisions and general drop in league places - and despite this and the fact that the most hated Chairman in the club's history came back and replaced a popular manager full of potential, with a Dutch unknown, the fans still supported the team even though they'd only witnessed one home win in 14 games. I actually think the fans should be congratulated for still supporting the worst Saints team to be assembled, coached, and funded in living memory, with a board that gives them no hope for the future. Only the best football fans in the Country would still pay to cheer on a team in such a situation. Posts like this that criticise the fans make me really angry. The fans ARE the club. If no-one turn up to watch the Saints, the club wouldn't exist. We've put up with year after year of bodged decisions and worstening results and still the fans turn up to cheer the team on, even in this era of zero hope - a great set of fans if you ask me!
  2. Blackpool have had 6 loans players returned and are skint so they could easily get dragged into it. My mate who's a Blackpool fan is very concerned for their Championship status.
  3. If you look at his last five appointments, they have all been disasterous in some form or another...Redknapp and Burley had no motivation for our club, Wigley & Poortvliet were/are out of their depth and he couldn't work with Sturrock. Perhaps that means his next one will be OK due to the law of averages!
  4. Only 5000 tickets left according to the Ticket Office yesterday morning! Should be a sell out (or very close to one!).
  5. I can't believe someone had to spoil the day by bringing club politics into a day that should be all about the football. Can't see many 'Lowe Out' comments, so can't you just give it a rest...just for one day! Plus those 'fans' who were at the Wolves game were brilliant. 'they can't be enjoying playing in front of their own fans, hence our far better away record.' The reason we have a better away record is that Poortvliet plays one up front at home and most teams in this division play negative football away - not the easiest way to attain points. We have a better away record because home teams play for the win, are more open, which suits our style of play. If anyone slags off the home support again, I'll be really irritated as they obviously haven't been attending matches.
  6. If Lowe was to go then we wouldn't necessarily be stuck with an inexperienced (to English football) manager who is being forced to play the kids. There are other options than just sticking with the youngsters (i.e. a blend of experience and youth), but that dosn't equate with Lowe's plan of having as many kids as possible on the shop shelf. Lowe going would bring back stay away fans, plus a renewed sense of optimism with club, board and fans united - for a while anyway. We would have new options available as to who would be manager and who would play in the first team as the dutch experiment dosn't seem to be working that well at the moment. That being said, after watching the match on Saturday, I would absolutely LOVE the current team to succeed. I felt really proud of the way they played against Wolves, and some of the football really was Arsenal standard. Good to see Lalana and Cork playing for England last night as well.
  7. He knows that the money he had to spend at Portsmouth is going to be disappearing soon - his 'Spiritual home' appears to be where the money is. Mercenary budgie that can only manage when he's got a substantial cheque book behind him.
  8. At least there's a chance of attracting investment if Leon's in charge..plus the hope that he might fund a striker out of his own pocket. Something that the mercenary Lowe wouldn't even contemplate.
  9. Why didn't the tosser f*ck off at that point then!? Instead he decided to collect a wage for 6 months when we could have had someone motivated to get Saints promoted. In fact why didn't Lord Lowe sack him - it must have been glaringly obvious that there was a lack of motivation from the Saggy Faced git. I wonder what name Scooby would have given him had he been around then? If Nigel Pearson was a 'Boot Boy', God knows what that makes Redknapp!
  10. I think you're being too charitable...he's a total **** in my opinion! When we went down he had more money to spend on a striker than the £90K (or was it £900K?) he spent on Fuller. Our main priority at that point was to get a decent striker in. He couldn't be arsed to put the effort in as his heart wasn't in it. Saggy faced tosser!
  11. I'm not sure that a large majority of the lost 5,000 or so fans are staying away because of Lowe - I would have thought it's more to do with the 'Credit Crunch'. Especially if you usually take the kids as well - it's just far too expensive when you have to make decisions on what 'luxuries' to cut from your life. I work for the government and in real terms my wages have been dropping year after year due to below inflationary pay rises. If I hadn't have recently got promoted, I would have only been able to scrape enough money together to attend a couple of matches this season. As it is, I can afford to go more often but all the Home games on a Saturday have co-incided with weddings/stag dos etc. Week nights are no good as the kids have to go to bed early! I've been desparate to see the new team play but the first opportunity I've got is the Watford match and I can't wait! Finally - the strangely high amount of TV coverage we're getting at the moment can't help attendances. My mate supports Wolves who are getting 1 match so far (in Oct) to our 5 and he can't believe it!
