Over and above the obvious of stability ...
the boy from saints replied to Sold To The Man @ The Bar's topic in The Saints
Better lager than bleedin' Carlsberg - A St Marys 'Pub' would be good. Somewhere to have a few pints and watch Sky Sports before the match. I don't know what time you can start drinking in the Concourse, but I wouldn't want to spend a huge amount of time there! -
Just watched a longish (compared to The Championship's usual 25 seconds) 'article' on the demise of Saints, Charlton, and Norwich - but focussing on Saints. What was nice was the recognition of Saints being the first BIG casualty of the credit crunch - they played footage of Keegan, Le Tiss and the FA Cup win. Killer was quoted as 'Saints Defender' and Lawro blaming the gamble of clubs spending to get back in the Prem causing the financial problems resulting in relegation. At least we're not forgotten (this was nationwide BBC1 news) - and in the media we're still seen as a big club. Please let there be some good news soon... I'm a bit ****ed so I bet there's already a thread on this as it's taken me bloody ages to type this!!!

Next managerial appointment will make or break us!
the boy from saints replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Well, as long as Lowe isn't involved in the decision, I think we stand a better chance of getting it right! -
Current Players Should Donate a Months Wages
the boy from saints replied to Rebel's topic in The Saints
If it came down to Saints existing or not - you'd think that high profile ex players such as Walcott, Bale, Beattie, Jones etc. could help out. Just donating a week's wages would help hugely. If it wasn't for Saints, none of them would be in the position they are in now. -
FA to investigate a "reported missing £40m"
the boy from saints replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
I agree. For whatever reason he wasn't motivated enough and should of f*cked off, at the very least once we were relegated, leaving someone who was up for the job to give us a good chance of promotion in our first Championship season. What a wasted opportunity that was - he was quoted the other day that he didn't even know that Delap had a long throw!!!!! Shows how interested in the team he was - c**t! -
Wotton injury - the referee nearly had blood on his hands
the boy from saints replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
There was still about a minute to play and I thought we had one last chance to win the game with a free kick. Couldn't understand why it was all over at that point. Couldn't understand the 3 minutes injury time at the end of the 1st half either. A seriously sh*te ref. -
We HAVE to fill the ground for Burnley
the boy from saints replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
The bloke in the ticket office sounded hopeful that we would have a full ground on Saturday. Whether that includes the corners I don't know? This was at 18.00 yesterday. -
Come on Coventry!!!! You can do it!!!

Final Score Ipswich 3 Norwich 2. We're still in with a (slim) chance!

What is sad is that since Wotte took over, we ditched the good footballing play and started playing more traditional mid table Championship hoofball football - which probably would have given us enough points to keep us up over a season. Unfortunately Wotte dosn't seem to have the ability to motivate our players enough - and Ryan Smith as a late sub..... Whatever people think...you can't blame the players half as much as the stupid decisions that put two Dutch no-bodies in charge this season. Even when Poortvliet was sacked there was an opportunity to employ someone with experience of the league. Wilde and Lowe are responsible for this situation, not the players. Surman has been ****e for the last few months, but it's not lack of passion on his part - the coaching, tactics and motivation are to blame - which ultimately comes back to the people that employed the coaching staff in the first place. Please let someone take over that can make a half decent decision and have a bit of money to buy a new team.

It's got to be FF7 or SM64 for me with Zelda OoT coming a close third. I don't get much of a look in at the moment thanks to the kids, but Rhythm Tengoku on the DS is my modern best game...

Do we want a Billionaire to take us over?
the boy from saints replied to PaulSaint's topic in The Saints
Not as old fashioned as you might think...Arsenal have only spent something like £8M net on players over the last four years compared to Liverpool and United (£80) and Chelsea on tons more! You just need a f**king good manager and backroom staff. -
How much would you put in to own our club
the boy from saints replied to derry's topic in The Saints
I agree. Can't we have £100, £200, £300 etc, or have all the fields been used up? -
How much would you put in to own our club
the boy from saints replied to derry's topic in The Saints
I wonder if access would be allowed to the database to enable the emailing of any details of such a scheme? The future of the club is at stake, so surely the Administrators would sanction the release of such info? If it's their say? -
How much would you put in to own our club
the boy from saints replied to derry's topic in The Saints
I could afford £300 at a push - all you'd need is 100,000 fans to donate £200 and we're right out of the danger zone. This isn't so far fetched as not too long ago 30,000 fans regularly attended matches. There must easily be three times that many that can't make it to matches. If £200 gave you a vote and ownership of the club I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult to get the required amount, especially if it meant a choice between the club existing or not. The only caveat is that you would only be able to buy one share. Make it democratic. -
Anybody Been Listening To Radio Hampshire
the boy from saints replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Mark Dennis said that the club only just managed to pay the wages this month and his very reliable source gave him the info on the PLC going into admin meaning the club wouldn't have to take the 10 point penalty. Sounds a bit risky to me in that the FA might take further points off us for trying it on!? -
Anybody Been Listening To Radio Hampshire
the boy from saints replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
There was talk about us going into administration - and something about the PLC taking the hit leaving the club OK...I don't quite understand the difference between the club and Soton Leisure Holdings. Could this happen? -
Hope is the word. If we stay up, we'll be left with Wilde and Lowe i.e. the cheap option i.e. no hope and relegation next season. Relegation this season will probably mean administration - i.e. no hope again. No wonder there is lethargy with regards to Saints!
-
So, (and I know this has been talked about before) if one of my 3 lines did win the Euro Millions tonight - how much would I need to sort the club out? £26M Stadium Debt. £6M OD £30M on players for the next 3 years until we get to the Prem? £62M should do it? That leaves £23M for my family & friends! Sorted! Or have I left out any other costs? By the way, I'd get rid of the board, de-list the associated companies and make the club privately owned- but contraversially potentially keep Wotte.
-
The smart answer is because Rupey Babey thought we could walk this league on the cheap - then realised, in reality (something we all knew) you need a mix of experience and youth to succeed. A bit more expensive - but a lot less expensive than relegation. Wotte has finally been given the tools to succeed (I feel a bit sorry for Jan as I think he was shackled as to who he could choose as his starting 11) and it's reaping the benefits!
-
FFS. A bit of good feeling and a second home win in a row...there is no need for point scoring or snide comments. We won. We are in a massively better position than expected. Forget your egos for a second. Wotte, beyond all expectations is doing a job. I hate Lowe, but I don't care...hope is back...I can enjoy going to see the Saints again..and for that I'm thankful. Just drop the arrogant attitude and enjoy the win like a true fan!
-
If we went into admin and Lowe & Co bought it I would have to stop supporting Southampton FC as it would no longer be my club. As long as Lowe is involved in the decision making process I would have to stop going to see games...and this is from someone who was willing to give him one last chance this season. I think that the enduring presence of Lowe post admin would be the last straw for many people.

If the 'march out' destination was a kid friendly pub then that would possibly help swell numbers. I'd be more likely to go if my kids could go as well.
-
The 'arguement' that the protest numbers were swelled by the normal fans walking up to the game holds no water. We arrived at the ground around 2ish - how many fans get to the ground an hour before kick off? Very few from my experience.
-
Fair play to the Swansea fans who clapped us as we marched past their coaches - they've been in the same position as us and survived..and great support in the ground where (as promised) the fans left all the animosity towards the board outside the ground. Extra kudos for Saints fans were from the Swansea fans I spoke to on the train back who said that our support was a million times better than than the Pompey fans they played in the cup.
