What annoys me is that Rickie could have stayed her and been a Saints legend. Instead, he's ended a great career on a total downer. I find that really fustrating! What a waste!

Lallana - Had To Leave - But Still Loves Us
the boy from saints replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Seriously, we can't compete with your Chelsea,'s, City's, United's; even Arsenals on a monetary basis. There is zero competition if you include us in that group. -
Bony only scored twice in his first nine games for Swansea and four in the first 15. After that he was regularly banging them in. Hopefully Pelle will get a goal against Milwall and confidence will soar - although have not been particularly impressed so far but he is good with his chest!

Rickie Lambert... He plays for Liverpool don't you know?
the boy from saints replied to Noodles34's topic in The Saints
I suppose we'll have to get used to this artificial atmosphere tampering by the media as a result of true supporters being priced out the game resulting in a noticeable loss of atmosphere. The lack of competition in terms of winning the league is also probably impacting on support from clubs outside the top 5. They'll probably have to end up resorting to 'canned cheering' over the next ten years to attempt to boost the Premier League brand as lifelong supporter's attendances start to dwindle and their spaces are filled with tourists, corporate, and the 'prawn sandwich' brigade. Liverpool are one of the 'big' revenue clubs for the Premier League and 'little' clubs like Saints (that don't have much of an impact on the saleability of the league) can't be seen to have better support than the top 5. It ruins the facade. -
I know that at half time I will want a couple of bottles of lager/cider. If it means I can leave once play stops (rather than on 42 mins to avoid the queues) then it's a good idea. But will it work in reality? Worth a go. In other news the Contactless card payment queues are welcome. Nice to not have to think about withdrawing cash before a game.

Nearly 18K! Not bad going.

Hope I can dig out my 'Saints Go Wilde' t-shirt! Not had much of a chance to wear it recently!

New poll, do you trust KL and the new board?
the boy from saints replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
You really do have to wait until the transfer window closes before you can comment. We've brought in a great manager, two good additions and 5/6 more to come according to our most reliable ITKer Guan. I'm not going to panic until then. Plus we have a huge amount of money in the bank and no fear of losing our club as we did 5 years ago. The supporters are immense as well - £1K for a pre-season friendly on a Monday night at Swindon speaks volumes. Even if we do get relegated (which I have no serious worries about), the Championship was brilliant! -
If the people who constantly moan about the board had gone to Swindon or Bournemouth this week they will have realised that the club is not in turmoil. The support was immense and as long as we have that I won't be concerned. We (the supporters) are the only constant and without us the club would be a hollow shell. We played well against a strong Bournemouth team with them being at least a week further into pre-season than us. Koeman is a quality manager, Pelle & Tadic good incoming players with more to come. Chill out! Look where we were 5 years ago and be thankful.

There was the infamous 'We signed Pochettino' song that would be repeated a lot throughout many a game!?

Just wanted to add my thanks for such a great read. I would seriously look forward to Tues mornings generally in the knowledge that the latest match review would be out. It's nice to read a mainly unbiased report from a Saints supporter's view - and it made me laugh! Cheers Billy!

Mass "Ignore the trolls" experiment.

Thanks MODs. I didn't realise why I actually enjoyed reading the main forum today without feeling irritated - now I know! Cool! -
How is this Saints related? Sorry to be a bore but this should be General Sports.......innit!

I don't want to be a drama queen but this thread has been the final GS straw for me. Dear GS, you are the sort of head in the sand pessimist that would have laughed at Pythagorus claiming the earth was round. It might make you feel special now, but your lack of foresight is deeply depressing. Football is all about hope - and fair competition is slowly worming it's way into the game. I don't want to hear your tawdry views anymore, so along with the negative void that is Sanchez, you are also on ignore - and I can now enjoy the views of fellow Saints supporters (positive and negative) on this forum without ridiculous WUMing! Hallelujah!
-
That's brilliant! Thanks!

Are there any good pubs that our contingent tend to congregate in for this away day?
-
We're you at the game? There wasn't a moment where I thought we would lose (well only a few minutes!!!). We were in control for most of it, less a few defensive lapses. The scoreline and tv highlights didn't reflect the majority of the game. Apologies if you did go...but my perception was that we weren't going to lose at any point. Great game though!

Just stick the people that annoy you on ignore! I did, and enjoy the forum a lot more again!

He is, however a Saints supporter!

Adam Lallana pledges future to Southampton
the boy from saints replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
A valid arguement to counter the cynics on the board that think that players are so mercenary that they'd jump at the chance of moving to a 'bigger' club. Some people value happiness, loyalty, a forward thinking chairman with a innovative plan, and playing for a club that they love (plus a decent wage) above the potentially false glory of foreign billionaire funded trophy wins. Not all players are that shallow. This could come back to bite me but I hope not! -
That would seriously be a good move. I used to love reading the Keith Leg match reviews in the day, but these are even better. Always look forward to Tues mornings. Cheers Billy!

Cool! I'm a fogey then! Perhaps it could be another poster classification like 'happy clapper', & 'bed wetter'!
-
What's the classification of a fogey btw? I've stopped posting for ages (and I'm youngish) mainly because I expect to have a sarcastic, snide comment attached to any opinion I may have. I'm probably being a bit of a saddo, but it does put me off commenting.
