Agreed with poster above, don't forget Schniederlin. He will turn out to be a fantastic player this season if we keep hold of him. If we get Jaidi (hopefully... what stage are we at anyway?), then the spine of: Davis Jaidi-Thomas Schniederlin-Lallana Lambert would fit the bill fine for me.

Now I have to admit I don't watch many games out here, but today I reminded myself of the agony of watching Saints and i'm still shaking. I'm disappointed with the draw, but in a way, pleased as well, because I think I saw a lot of positives out of this: The largest being the much improved defensive effort. In the last 10 minutes there were probably around 10 dangerous set plays/crosses into the box. The Wotte Saints would probably have conceded a couple of late goals, because last year we were pretty poor from set plays. However, Thomas made a great deal of difference and won a lot of headers. A saints player that wins headers!!! Takes you back... As for the full backs, Murty mistake free, and Harding looked an excellent prospect, hard in the tackle and also put in a fantastic run in the 2nd half with a blinding cross at the end. Way better than what we had last season in that particular position. If we can tie up Jaidi, I think we will have the strongest back 4 in the league. (Murty, Thomas, Jaidi, Harding). And with Davis between the sticks.... well what a legend. As proven today by the penalty save. That guy deserves the freedom of the city!!!

Frustrating start. I hate to be negative, but I think we will lose 0-1. I think that of any season, this is the most important we have ever had in terms of getting a good start. We need to be in positives as quick as we can. Heart is desperate for a win to get me positive once again!!!

Leeds or Norwich for me. Play Offs: Huddersfield, Oldham, Charlton, Saints (hopefully) don't care about relegation... considering we shouldn't be anywhere near there post-christmas

Jaidi better sign, because if we have Lancashire playing against Millwall we are as good as doomed. All is well, so as long as the Jaidi signing happens, I think we should all be pleased!

This thread is most certainly an enjoyable read. As a 17 year old for most of my life i've seen the gradual decline of Saints and the gradual rise of Pompey. Now please let the tables turn for the better once again!!!

In 5 years, players like Frazier Campbell will be worth 15 million, and Real Madrid will be spending 500 million on fantastic young talents such as Ryan Smith.

May I also say it is the best sporting event of the year. Evans all of a sudden has become a much more attacking rider, but as observed in Andorra yesterday, Contador is just far too good and is likely to win the tour with ease if nothing unexpected happens. As for the green, Cavendish should be able to win it - the only thing that may stop him is if, like on Stage 5 - nobody helps Team High Road in the sprints and breakaways aways win the stages that Cavendish can gain significant points on. Otherwise, only Hushovd will be a threat through some of the hilly stages. AND WHAT ABOUT WIGGINS? A fantastic display in Andorra, we thought he was just a time triallist!!! He will never be a Contador, but he was better than his team mate and leader Van de Velde yesterday IMO and if he can keep that up has a cracking chance at a top 10. If Team Sky can get him next year we may be featuring more than we think in next years tour!!! (that is if Sky get IN the tour... but with Brailsford behind British Cycling I think it's guaranteed we'll get there)

Exactly how I feel. Excited, but also know it's still a long way from reality. If their wealth is what it reads to be, i'm sure if anyone beats them to the takeover it's going to be hard for this other group to be popular! Please, for once, let this be true. 6 years of misery must soon be ending, SURELY!!!
