If any game in any league will be 0-0 this weekend, its Saints v Yeovil.
-
I'm really angered by this decision... if he goes on loan, it should NEVER be to a club in the same league as your own. NEVER. Why? 1) It unsettles players. They go to a new club, like it, and kind of want to stay. A perfect example of this was Nathan Dyer, and it was proven by the fact that every time he went on loan, whether it be to Burnley, Sheff Utd or Swansea - he always played better there than he did at Saints. 2) It may improve a rivals team. If by some miracle Saints survive a relegation battle and even push for the play offs at the end of the season, what will we be thinking when we are beaten to 6th by an MK Dons side, who grabbed a point extra because of a moment of magic from their loanee earlier in the season. 3) Why can't he go to League Two? Its not as if he is too good for that league. And surely the clubs would want him. If he wants to build confidence, why doesn't he play in a slightly less competitive league? I understand why he is going out on loan, and yes, it is important that he plays games. He shouldn't be joining MK Dons though - that is the mistake for me.

It's two things: 1) players depreciate in ability when playing for Saints 2) a Saints shirt represents bad luck ie - he was never going to score many goals for us...

We'll get well beaten, we suck
-
No I didn't say that.... I said its a possibility

My theory continues. We could sign half the Liverpool squad and we still wouldn't win. Why? Losing and non-winning mentality. We are, IMO, favourites for relegation because of this. We cannot win, and will not win until some sort of massive fluke comes around. When we win, we might start getting some confidence, but for now, relegation is on the cards because Southampton has a disgusting on the pitch attitude at the moment, that has not changed since after we lost to Derby on Penalties. Whoever comes in, the lack of belief still seems to be there.
-
We are in massive trouble of relegation. We will lose at Charlton next weekend, so I would give him until 2 games after that to get his first win. If not, unfortunately for him with the way the world works now, its curtains.

Annoying threads like this seem to be appearing every week!!! We lose, something mildly positive happens off the field and then our season promises to start the week after. We lose, something mildly positive happens off the field and then our season promises to start the week after. Bullsh*t. Won't believe it until we win 5 in a row. And it needs to happen soon because for the players we have it is an embarrassment.
-
Considering each player becomes worse when they pull on a red and white shirt, we should have a pretty average team for League One. Hopefully we'll stay up!!!

We, as ever, are the exception to the rule!!! From a 1-1 draw prediction it goes to a 1-3, just because its obvious.... there is no scientific explanation to it, but first games for managers always produces results.

Live Deadline Day Transfer Rumours from Daily Echo
brightspark replied to ruddick's topic in The Saints
Looks like the club is still not waking up from its slumber, as usual we will have to wait.... this time waiting for the loans... -
unbelievable. might well be trading leagues unless we sign some new strikers.
-
Judging by our non-winning attitude, I think we will be lucky to survive, even if we have the best 'team'. It seems that anyone that puts on a Saints shirt becomes, suddenly, a worse player than they really can be... I'm desperate to be proved wrong.
-
Rasiak was a slow, hold up striker with a great goalscoring record..... we have already replaced HIM, its called Ricky Lambert. We need someone to replace the fast, quick striker that always partners the big man. Last year we had BWP and perhaps McGoldrick in this mould. We still need to sign someone who has these attributes. Maybe a loan is the answer???
-
Absolutely, 100%, spot on. Listen to the majority Mr Pardew, we need 4 players, with these attributes. Make sure the Centre Back is big, and the Striker is quick.
-
I hate these threads. They pop up a lot at the moment. The reason is simple... Southampton has been possibly the worst club to support in the entire football league in the last 5 years. So, fans are frustrated, unhappy, and, just maybe for once, see their team actually play well and give us something to look forward to. NOBODY CAN COMPARE US TO FANS OF A LOT OF OTHER CLUBS (exceptions: leeds, charlton, norwich) because we have gone through major pain recently, and it will take time for this pain to be healed in terms of the fans anger. So shut up about the fanbase being poor, please, because we've all kind of had enough and you can't expect everyone to keep quiet and be patient when we've been falling and falling for the last 5 years.
-
We need this. We really need a proper winger.... as well as a Right Back, Centreback and Pacy Striker.
-
TBH it sounds like my perfect dream. Saints lose and leave this pointless cup competition, and put in a decent performance to boost confidence. I would have been so angry if we had beaten Birmingham and lost on Saturday. I would have probably smashed up my laptop, because WE ARE IN A RELEGATION BATTLE and the league is way more important to anything else. We must win on Saturday, and I am glad we got beaten.
-
NEW SIGNING. Unfortunately we don't have anyone good enough at this football club, so we must buy someone new. Along with another CB, Winger and Striker.
-
Deduct both teams 10 points. That might stop them..... you'd like to think. Unfortunately the Football League has no sense and is probably bullied by Millwall, and will the Premier League be interested in docking someone points for an incident outside there competition? Don't think so.

Munto Finance v Markus Liebherr (Notts County v Saints)
brightspark replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
It is frustrating. But we're Saints, so we have to start getting used to the fact that whoever is in charge we will never ever be good ever again. Someone has it in for us. God is a skate. -
Would much rather get 3 points on the board than progress in a pointless cup competition. I will hate it if we win this, and then fail to back it up on Saturday. HATE IT.
-
Trotman's attempt at a leapfrog is admireable, however Saints won't be doing much of that this season
-
Hopefully the Poles will leave, and we will sign another high-league one class LUMP of a CB, one CREATIVE winger and one SPEEDY striker. If we do not do this we are in trouble of relegation. Although, it seems that even if we had the best players in the world, we would probably still be relegated, as they wouldn't be able to "gel" or more likely because they have the disfortune of wearing the cursed red and white stripes.
-
We have made six signings since the arrival of Pardew and the Swiss. Just to recap, these are Harding, Murty, Lambert, Mellis, Hammond and Trotman. As everyone knows, there are 11 men in a starting XI. Harding - has proven he is good enough for this league. did well in championship last year. Murty - he is certainly good enough for this league, despite age Lambert - best forward in League One Mellis - quote by Chelsea fans "he's way better than league one" Hammond - Captain of two league 1 clubs, proven to be a high standard league one player. Trotman - Impressed in League One with Oldham, PNE think he is worth a 500K signing. Then we have Kelvin Davis. Best Goalkeeper in League One. So we now have SEVEN players who are good enough for a team to come in the top 2 of this league (if we didn't have a points deduction). They may take a couple of games to gel, but by the time we face Colchester (or near then at the very latest), we should be winning pretty much like a Man Utd/Chelsea of League One. Questions to be answered in this thread: 1) With 7 Great Players for this League, will we start winning games frequently from Saturday onwards? 2) Has Pardew got the right men in? 3) Are the other 4 (non-new signings) so sh*t that they are the reason we are going to continue to lose?
