The Gambia - Here to brighten up an already sunny day....
St Louis replied to St Louis's topic in The Saints
I genuinely don't know as you never quite get a straight answer! I think a tourist or ex-pat once gave him a shirt? They are all footie mad out there, and replica shirts are worn everywhere, only this guy chose to cherish the red and white stripes, and stuck with us through thick and thin! I would love to get hold of some old surplus stock at the end of the season for his boys team, they literally wear rags... they would be proud as punch to wear the real thing! -

I sense your sarcasm here.... and I agree with you wholeheartedly! Lets embrace all of our fans, wherever they are.... Together as one! Any man, woman or child that loves The Saints this much is a friend of mine! If only it was easier for him to get a visa, as it would make his 'life' if he could attend a game, I kid you not! We will sort it one day for him! I was hoping that you would all like the story (and especially the choir like singing) so I'm glad I shared it now! OWTS -
I am loving being a Saints fan right now as I'm sure you all are, and I think this will put a further smile on your faces! My father lives out in The Gambia in Western Africa, and a few years ago he wandered the streets looking for a tailor. As he walked aimlessly in the hope of finding somebody to fix his trousers, he heard a sewing machine in full swing coming from an open doorway. He wandered over and peered his head through the door, and to his huge surprise there sat a local Gambian man (who was indeed a tailor) but more importantly had all of his walls adorned with Saints memorabilia (scarves, calendars, a shirt, etc)!!!!!! It turns out that this man's name is Hassan and he is in fact the President of The Gambian Saints Supporters Club! As you can imagine, the club doesn't have too many members as 99% of the locals out there choose to support the usual 'big' Premier League clubs (also bear in mind we were in League 1 at the time). It turns out that Hassan also runs a local boys team who he has affectionately named 'The Saints'! Over the past few years we have embraced Hassan and his love for Saints, so on each trip we take over memorabilia and merchandise for him, and you have never seen somebody be so appreciative! We also managed to get a feature about him into the Saints matchday programme and The Pink! Anyway, my Dad has just emailed me to say that he has started to expand his one-man tailoring shop and has now employed an apprentice and 2 female members of staff, who he refers to as 'Junior Saint' and 'The Saintettes'! I will be doubly pleased if we gain promotion this season, obviously for my own selfish reasons, but also for this lone tailor in Bakau, The Gambia who chose the Saints as his team (despite our 3rd tier position) over the better advice of his 'friends' in the region who take the easier option of supporting Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea & Arsenal (and in the last 2 years Man City!!!!) My Dad has just emailed this video of Hassan in his shop today..... enjoy.... If you ever happen to be in The Gambia, then pop by and say hello, you can trust me that you will be most welcome! His address is The Gambia Saints - President Al-Hassan, c/o The Tailoring Shop, Luigis, Kololi Beach, The Gambia, West Africa

Who are you referring to as a JCL? Me? Why? You have no idea how many home or away games I've been to this season or any other season! Just because I couldn't make the the League Cup game, does it make me a JCL? I've followed Saints home and away for years, including the trip out to Bucharest! I'm ashamed of myself for biting here.... but christ some of our fans can be tw*ts!

I've just checked to book on the National Rail website, and it doesn't say that they arent! Thanks for all the advice chaps... Bournemouth to Selhurst it is then via (several pre and post match beers at) Clapham Junction! See you all there!

Hi All, A few of us are getting a Train from Bournemouth to the Palace game on Easter Monday. It's my first visit, so just wondered if anybody had done that trip before and know what is the best route? Would it be best to go to Clapham Junction or Waterloo first? Cheers! UTS!

They already are Paris, I bought mine when I bought my Barnsley ticket 2 weeks ago!

Ditto, I often think this when celebrating at St. Mary's! We owe so much to the big man, we certainly wouldn't be where we are now without him!

31 Years Old, grew up in Andover until the age of 18, then studied in Cheltenham and then travelled the world before settling in Bournemouth in 2004. My Dad is a mad Saints fan and was on their books as a kid (keeping Bobby Stokes out of the Hampshire team is his claim to fame!) so I had no say on what team I was to support! Starting attending in the 84/85 season, so a good time to be introduced to the club! Sadly I was away in Australia during the great 2003 season, so after 15 years with a season ticket I missed that season and the Cup Final. Highlights for me 'so far' would be... - ZDS Cup Final - JPT Final - Away to Steaua Bucharest in 2004 UEFA Cup - And simply.... Matthew Le Tissier

Done! Some crackers in there too!

Well not quite how you put it, but yes it's so a friend can attend the game Just seen that Chelsea offer a creche on matchdays... Nicola is missing a business opportunity here! The bike stand idea isn't a bad one though...... Thanks to everyone for their help anyway!
-
Apologies if I am in the wrong section here, but couldn't really see the correct one. I have a friend who has a ticket for the Brighton game this Saturday and they are keen to attend. However, they have their 4 year old daughter for the day (and have no option for a babysitter, and taking his daughter to the game isnt an option on this occasion) So they were wondering whether there is a Creche nearby to the ground that anybody could recommend? I believe there used to be a Creche at West Quay called Abacus, but they dont seem to exist anymore (or at least the phone number doesn't work anymore) Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Just a little cheeky reminder/plug that these only have 2 hours left on eBay! Thanks for the interest and bids already! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130580831348?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_1314wt_1188

Hi All, I have had a lot of messages from people asking if I would sell any of these Tee's as individuals (so thought it would be easier to answer to all on here)....... As much as I would love to, we made the decision to sell all of the stock in one go, so I have listed the full 70 on eBay (and I don't have any further stock). Now that there are a few bids, we cant now change back to individual items on eBay. Considering we were selling individual Tee's for £12.50, and there are 70 of them on eBay going for £50 at the moment, it looks like their is a bargain to be had anyway! Thanks again for all your interest and kind words! (Now more importantly.... lets get those 3 points from Watford!)
-
Damn! And I was going to offer!
-
Haha, with this interest I'm thinking I may have decided to sell up too early! Unfortunately I can't now sell individually as I have listed as a set of 70 on eBay, and they end a week today! All I could suggest is keep an eye on them or make an early bid, as I really have no idea what these will sell for? So you may be able to pick up all 70 for a tenner! A pedlars license is just £12.50 a year (and is bought from a police station), so if anybody fancied taking them on to then sell outside the ground, it really is easy!
-
Hi All, I hope this is OK to post this within here (I cleared it with the Admin when I initially promoted them!) We have now decided to sell all of the remaining stock we have of Legod T-Shirts, so I thought it may be of interest to a fellow Saint!? How weird... I noticed Antonio had different socks to the others in the JPT Final too!
-
Great post, great analogy! And my thoughts exactly! What could be better than drinking, singing and cheering our team on with 43,999 fellow Saints? Its tough to win any of the other cups when you are playing in League 1, so let's enjoy this one! I bet Norwich, Charlton, Leeds et al would have liked their day out at Wembley! Up the Saints!

Are you getting through on this number? I have had it just ringing for 15 mins now??
