Missed out there. Was staying very close to Coach & Horses but went to the Fat Cat & Canary. But that was very good and friendly too. Apart from the football an excellent weekend.

I don't know what the personal issues were that made him want to be in London but without them he should have been a likely starter for us. Made a difference whenever he came on at the end of last season.

Having talked with Norwich fans after the game would have to disagree with this. They started with a lot of energy and moved the ball forward well but, like us, they had no end product. They did get crosses in but mainly poor. They were rarely a threat. Defensively they did enough because we didn't ask many questions. The game was settled by two moments when the ball broke out of the penalty area to an attacking player. We hit the post, they scored. At least the pen decisions balanced out.

Defensively I thought we looked quite good. Loren has integrated well and looks solid with Fonte, Fox had one of his better games, but Chambers struggled. But for attacking options we must get back to Shaw and Clyne. The problems are in midfield where we have lost our impetus, cutting edge, speed of movement and urgency. Too many passes go slowly sideways or backwards. Surely with all the options we now have there is a combination that will work? For me, we need the Morgan, Cork, AL central axis back together. They understand each other and the speed of thought and movement when they are together is so much better. VW fulfils a role, but it's too defensive as he doesn't see or make the cutting pass. I'd fill the remaining starting places with JRod/Ramirez, Davis/ Ward-Prowse and Lambert. Osvaldo can be option from the bench until he looks sharper and fitter. Looked way off the pace today. VW may be an alternative to Davis/Ward-Prowse against tough opposition.

If we sell Jack I will be very worried after today's performance. We need him back with Morgan, then work out where VW can fit.
