  1. As I said, your prejudiced are set and responses pre-determined. Try judging each performance on its merits. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  2. That works for me. [emoji2][emoji2] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  3. That's an attractive prospect and I can (possibly through rose-tinted glasses) picture a dream team. But Adkins would never take an assistant role and he's not a DOF, so never going to happen. Nice fantasy, though. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  4. JWP was excellent yesterday, blocking, covering and getting forward. Perhaps you didn't notice he was the quickest to react for our goal, which he seems to have scored. But please don't let facts get in the way of your hatred and prejudice. Armstrong also put in tremendous work and I seem to recall it was his shot that led to the goal. And, although I've been a critic on more than one occasion, Stephens did very little wrong, especially getting in critical blocks. Nothing like kicking your team as they're just getting a bit of pride back. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  5. Djenepo is the key. There was no lack of energy and stamina in our midfield yesterday. All of Armstrong, JWP and Romeu (and Hojbjerg) can be box to box players (JWP was our most advanced player to react for our goal yeaterday) but we need faster service to Djenepo/Redmond/Boufal who can provide the incision and pace. If will help too when we've got two wing backs. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  6. I wouldn't criticise any of them. McCarthy: seems to inspire more confidence. Should keep the shirt. Hojbjerg: looks competent at LB, but won't be an attacking WB. Valery decent game, kept Sterling quiet. CBs all worked very hard. I was surprised to see Stephens and Vestergaard on the team sheet, but they both had their best games for some time. I thought the midfield were outstanding with closing down and blocking. JWP also was very sharp for the goal. Redmond and Ings had few opportunities in attack but contributed massively in defence. They didn't get good relieving balls out to them. Danso was ok when he came on and Djenepo exciting. Great team performance. Maybe the ultra-defensive approach will be criticised, but it nearly worked and, when we tried to get forward after their second, they were tearing us apart on the counter. 7. Watching MOTD I'm surprised no one has commented how close to offside their winner was. Not even a VAR check on the pass out wide fir the cross. Probably just onside, but why no check? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  8. McCarthy was excellent. Perhaps we were at different games because I remember a number if saves, and any number of crosses caught. Aguero's goal was a first time shot through McCarthy's legs before he could react. As for next week, same team. Hojbjerg can't be dropped as he's our LB for now, and doing well. And JWP and Romeu were our hardest-working players yesterday, absolute key to the performance. Armstrong did start, in case you didn't notice, and was also good. Yes, I want to see Djenepo as soon as possible but think it'll be from the bench next week. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  9. As someone who was actually at the game, that's ridiculous. When Aguero scored it was the one occasion he found a but of space and got the shot in first time before he was closed down. Before that he had been crowded out and had shots blocked again and again: really determined defending that we've got used to not seeing. And McCarthy was unlucky with both goals. First through his legs before he could react and he got a punch on the cross fir the second, which admittedly could have been better, but dropped perfectly for Walker. 10. Fair enough. When I saw them they were supporting Pink Floyd! Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  11. Was that gig at Soton Uni? If so, I was there. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  12. Nine goals in the game. Can't remember when I last saw that. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] (Make that 10) Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  13. After last Friday the entire club was in a very dark place. There was no way we were suddenly going to come out a revitalised team full of attacking flair. As others have said, the first priority was to avoid a repeat and put in a performance. So, as far that goes, the first steps of recovery have been taken. Let's hope for a decent show on Saturday. 14. And assisted by the useless JWP who does nothing and should have been off. [emoji2] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  15. This is the crux of the matter. After Friday they're petrified that if they attempt anything, they'll lose the ball and concede again. This same group of players is capable of far better than this. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  16. A shot? [emoji2][emoji2][emoji2] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  17. But 3-0 [emoji849] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  18. Not going to make it as trains cancelled. Maybe blessing in disguise? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  19. I stand by everything I said but agree the club has totally failed to bring in a proper replacement for Rohl. The coaching staff now looks inadequate. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  20. We have the prize for the most ridiculous suggestion. Many things went wrong on Friday but fans turning on the team before they've even been given a chance to show a reaction tonight really is going to do nothing to help the situation. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  21. Very restrained. We'll done Glenn. I'm angry because this was to be a special match for me. A birthday present of hospitality in the Liebherr lounge. Instead of remembering the decent food, meeting players and ex-players and enjoying a bit of a treat, I will only ever remember 0-9. But one happy moment I'll take away. Bumped into (literally) MLT before the game and got to shake his hand and speak briefly with him. Thankfully it wasn't after the game. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  22. They were going to have at least a morning off, but it was cancelled. Post mortem this morning. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  23. I think there is a significant difference between Thai and Chinese culture. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  24. Agree with that totally. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  25. I was treated to an evening in the Markus Liebherr suite. Shame the car crash of a football match ruined the occasion. Sitting next to two Leicester fans, too. They were very restrained. As for the game, Leicester were good and we capitulated abysmally. That's about it. Huge respect to Maya who came up to face us after the game. Was relieved he didn't have a hara kiri sword. Made no excuses. Just said sorry. Got to "sort things out". Before the game I asked one of the Saints staff whether there are underlying problems. He didn't deny it. Implied that the business model is broken as we're crippled paying the wages of all the very bad buys who we can't offload. Investment in players will only come from sales and we aren't selling anyone. I took that as confirmation that Gao won't put a penny in. Probably hasn't got a penny. Ralph losing his assistant was a far bigger blow than was admitted. I'd say that's the point in Ralph's time when things started to go wrong. Depressing. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
