I agree. It would be excessive, anti-democratic and utterly inappropriate. But, for a would-be dictator fighting for the survival of his party and his own glory, who's said "do or die" and "rather be dead in a ditch than ask for an extension", backed into a corner with no other options? Nothing would surprise me. He's a pathological liar. He's lied to the people, parliament and even the queen. He never considers anything he does to be wrong, never apologises, never backs down, his reaction to being caught out is (to use the revolting Americanism) to double down and attack. He's a bully who can't conceive of not getting his own way. He's utterly disdainful of anyone challenging or contradicting him, without ever answering the challenges. His reaction to a defeat is to deny it's a defeat, ridicule those responsible for his defeat, ignore it and plough on. He is a very dangerous man, especially with Cummings behind him. The opposition parties are apparently discussing ways of making the Benn Bill watertight. It's clear Johnson and Cummings are convinced they can find a loophole. They haven't forced a no confidence vote or got through a FTPA vote but they could be extreme enough to meet the requirement to ask for an extension but then refuse it or use an Order of Council to postpone the Act's implementation - as John Major points out, this could be done by Cabinet without even Royal Assent, but would provoke a massive ****storm. If they're serious about stopping this, the opposition parties have to do something that they don't seem capable of doing. Call a vote of no confidence with an agreed interim PM to lead a temporary government to secure the extension. Corbyn is the big stumbling block to this. And even this might not work. Johnson could lose a confidence vote but refuse to resign. This is bad now but it's going to get a whole lot worse as 31st Oct approaches. Failure for Johnson could spell the end of the Tory Party, and with stakes that high, he'll do anything. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

His first reaction will no doubt be to do the Trump thing and "double down" on it. But he can't avoid the fact that this is a massive kick in the teeth and a statement that he can't rule as a dictator. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk -

Absolutely, if he has any decency. But he doesn't. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk -
No doubt it'll be memorable. Just hope it's in a good way. I'm going back for the first time in 50 years. Doubt the stadium has changed much. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I'd suggest Five Rivers in Beavois Valley or London Road Brew House. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I have clear opinions as you'd see if you read my contributions. We have an excellent manager but he has made some questionable selections in defence in the last two matches. You make unsubstantiated comments such as "rabbit in the headlights" and "not as good as his hype" (or words to that effect) which I can only interpret as trying to encourage dissatisfaction and unrest. If you do that, expect a response. It's not rudeness, it's a perfectly reasonable observation. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Sort of agree with the principle, but no way for you leave Bednarek out. And JWP plays unless he and the manager are wary of the abuse he'll get. I'd want him on the pitch, getting a hat trick. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Evidence? Totally deluded. You really think that "supporting" the Skates would override his loyalty to Saints and professional reputation as a player? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I can sort of agree with your first paragraph but the rest is your usual ludicrous trolling. Give it a rest. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

That really is ridiculous. He's a professional footballer whose entire career has been at Saints. If you really think he'd be influenced in the slightest by the fact he was born in Portsmouth, you're utterly deluded. The only reason to worry about playing him is the disgusting treatment he'll no doubt get from their moronic so-called fans. But he's more than capable of ignoring that. Of all the ridiculous comments on this thread this one wins the prize. You need to get real and find a sense of proportion. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Amazing. I was at the game last night and saw nothing at all wrong with JWP's performance. I guess it's easy from an armchair to see the easy forward passes. From where I sat in the stand it was hard work probing to find a way through. He had a solid game, with a cracking penalty. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I tend to agree with your first two paragraphs. Why Yoshida and Bertrand aren't starting, I just don't know. We don't have a sub-par attack. I'll accept the strikers aren't firing at the moment but Boufal, Djenepo and a fully fit Redmond will trouble teams. Last night was nothing to do with not starting as we finished, or having the wrong attitude against a "lesser" team. We simply started with a confused defence and it was immediately obvious the team had no balance Overall, we have the quality in the team to be comfortably mid table or better, but Ralph needs to get over his "creative" defensive selections and try putting round pegs in round holes. Play a back four of Cedric (or Valery), Bednarek, Yoshida and Bertrand regularly and build a bit of defensive understanding. Add in Danso or Vestergaard in we need a five. At it is at the moment, we're getting different selections every game with half the players out of position. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Unlike yourself, I'm not happy at all that we lost. I just stated facts. I had the dubious pleasure of travelling back last night on a train full of Bournemouth fans. Who were obviously very happy, but more than ready to say that on the basis of our second half, we deserved a draw. If we'd started the game with the second half team, would have been a different story. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Agree with the many who've said that was totally down to the weird defensive setup. I've got a lot of respect for Ralph, but the priority for every defensive player is to defend, and they've got a lot better chance of doing that in their proper positions. I'm struggling to understand the reluctance to play Yoshida and Bertrand, our two most experienced defenders. The second half line-up tonight looked balanced and sensible, except Yoshida would have been way better than Vestergaard. Ralph seems hooked on thinking of the full/wing backs as attacking players, and also keeps trying to hammer square pegs into round holes in those positions. Danso may be a good CB, but so far we've seen he's not a LB or a RB. Cedric is a decent RB, a much weaker LB with no attacking potential as he always has to cut in onto his right foot. Vestergaard is 6'19" or something, but doesn't head the ball well, is slow and gets out of position. JWP and PEH have done a job at FB, but why? To try to get more attacking players into the team? We have great attacking options. But we need a settled defence playing in their proper positions. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
