  1. I still fail to see how registering your 2nd and 3rd choices can possibly be less democratic. In my opinion most people care about issues and are not passionate about a particular party. If two, three or four parties fall in line with what you believe in then surely it is right to be able to register your support for them? I live in a area that is usually a straight choice between Tory and Lib Dem so have never voted for the party that most represents my views because it would be a wasted vote. AV would give me the chance to vote for what I believe.
  2. But surely democracy is all about gauging the opinions of the voters. If people like the policies of 2 or 3 parties, or hate one particular party surely that is just as valid as someone who passionately supports 1 single party? If you don't want your vote counted more than once you don't have to put a 2nd or 3rd choice so I don't see why you are concerned with how many times your card is used. From what I can see the only reason certain parties are against it is for their own selfish reasons.
  3. I agree with OldNick, Forte and N'Guessan have not exactly set the league alight.
  4. That's nonsense, if you didn't like a candidate you wouldn't put them as any choice.
  5. That is a blow, Barnard has been superb this season. With Chambo, Scheiderlin and Lallana also knackered getting that 2nd spot would be a massive achievement.
  6. The traditional badge could do with a redesign but the black badges above look really sh!t. I would go for something simple based around the rose. Ditch the stupid tree, wavy blue lines and scarf.
  7. I think AV is a much better way of representing what the people want, how can people expressing their first, second and third choice possibly be a bad thing? There is not one party whose policies I totally agree with but there are some I very strongly disagree with (BNP for example). AV gives me the chance to get my view across. I voted Lib Dem mainly because where I live it's a straight choice between them and the Tories, under AV I would probably vote 1:Green party, 2:Labour 3:Lib Dem. The Greens or Labour will still not get in but at least my vote reflects my opinion - that is what democracy is all about.
  8. It's pretty obvious what he meant if you have half a brain - both Bale and Bridge are good overlapping full backs.
  9. Surely it can't be a coincidence that this piece of unsubstantiated good news pops up just as they are desperately trying to flog cash up front Season Tickets?
  10. You have to admit it's a bit sad. When we brought out the DVD of our win at Spurs I was embarrassed. I used to live up near Tottenham and we are completely off their radar, like Brighton is to Saints. You could win the Champions League or go out of business - neither would bother us.
  11. It's a tough one, as much as celebrating all week and trying out their kids may work to our advantage, they will be playing with confidence and without pressure which wont help us. If we play like we did today they will beat us regardless anyway.
  12. Surely a club bringing out a DVD of a League win against us shows their sad obsession. Do you seriously thing we would start selling DVDs of next week's game if we beat them?
  13. Don't remember the Saints v Derby DVD.
  14. We are small and insignificant to Spurs, Brighton are the same to us. We are their Spurs.
  15. I thought he was the best player on the pitch today.
  16. Not really. Remember they brought out a DVD of their last victory against us. Another small neighbor with a chip on their shoulder.
  17. Even if some Jews find the term "Yid" offensive, it doesn't make a group of people calling themselves Yids racist. Just like if I find the word "n*gger" offensive, it doesn't make rappers who use the term racists. If you call a someone "yid" or "n*gger" in a derogatory way then you are being racist.
  18. Picking on people because they are Turkish is racist.
  19. I don't think Spurs calling themselves Yids or other fans calling them Yids is racist, it's just a name they have adopted. The Auschwitz stuff is so wrong though, I can't believe anyone would be retarded enough to sing stuff like that - I've never heard it.
  20. I don't see how it is arrogant or bitter to just say how it is. Brighton is a small club, Poyet is a big name with Premier League experience. If he carries on as well as he has been chances are he will be off. I actually like Brighton and am glad they are going up, purely because is would be great to have two well run, financially sound south coast clubs beating the **** out of pompey next season. Their misery amuses me.
  21. No, don't need to. Brighton, like Saints, have their place in the food chain. If Poyet continues doing as good next year it won't be long before a bigger club comes calling. If he was a Brighton boy with a bit of history with the club you would stand a better chance of keeping hold of him but he's not. he's a big name who's played at the highest level in this country. If someone like Leeds came calling he would be off tomorrow IMO.
  22. keep telling yourself that enough times and you might actually believe it. Poyet will have ambitions beyond a small club like Brighton, no matter what he says he would be off like a shot if a Premier league club came calling. Your best hope is that he hangs around long enough to get you promoted again.
  23. They have been the best team by a mile, if they keep hold of Poyet it wouldn't surprise me to see they fly through the Championship. Poyet will go though.
  24. A draw wouldn't be a bad result tonight but a win would really heap the pressure on Huddersfield and Peterborough.
  25. It makes no sense for a league 1 club owned by billionaires to live within it's means, I don't know why anyone expected the books to be balanced. To get where Cortese wants us to be in under 5 years serious money has to be invested. I doubt a return will be expected until we reach the Prem. It's right to keep an eye on the finances and question the amount of debt because we could easily end up in a similar situation to pompey but at the moment there is no cause for concern.
