  1. Of course. If you see pictures of a student wacking a copper with a piece of wood you don't know if previously the copper had wacked him.
  2. The TV pictures show parts of the violence but to understand what led up to them you obviously had to be there.
  3. You obviously don't understand Al Qaeda, it's not a protest it's an ideological war. They don't want to draw attention to anything, they want to destroy our culture.
  4. Yeah, because mass murder and violent protest is the same thing!
  5. Like I said, the fact that this thread exists shows that violent protesting works.
  6. I think all humans are essentially greedy and selfish. Even the most left wing among us are happy to moan about lack of this and that whilst people die of hunger in another continent.

  8. Could explain two rather odd decisions.
  9. I think alot of people vote tory because of what they say they stand for instead of what they actually stand for so I wouldn't say all tory voters are necessarily greedy but greed is a big part of what the Conservative Party is about.
  10. We badly missed Barnard's energy and movement up front, plus Schneiderlin was his usual pointless self there is so much more to being a midfelder than just having a nice touch and doing the odd good pass. You also have to ask why have we offloaded Bignall and Puncheon - is money really that tight?
  11. The fact that the issue is being discussed on here shows that violent protest works. Just like it did for the Poll Tax.
  12. We obviously don't know who is involved or what the money was but maybe NC's judgement is not that accurate. So far he seems to me to be the sort of person who knows the cost of everything but the value of nothing. Whenever I've been in the suites (Terry Paine, Booby Stokes, Mick Channon and Director's Guests) one of the most enjoyable things of the experience has been chatting to ex Saints. It's probably easy to look at the bar bill or their expenses and question their role, it's not so easy to work out the value they add to the experience. I don't doubt that there was some hangers on, just wouldn't take Cortese's word as gospel when he says certain people were "milking".
  13. The 50K is just a guess but Tuition Fees are only part of the costs of being at university, you have rent and living costs as well. When I went to uni it was free, I had a job and grant, plus my parents helped with the rent and I still got into debt. You obviously have trouble getting into the mentality of someone from a deprived background. If someone is from a family on benefits, earning 25K at Mcdonalds could be quite appealing when the alternative is spending 3 years skint and leaving with 30K+ debt and still maybe not getting a decent job.

HMV are ****ed IMO, there is nothing in that store you can't download for free.
  15. That's ******, whilst if you go to Uni you don't have to pay it back unless you earn a decent salary, the prospect of getting in at least 30K odd of debt will put off many students, especially from a poor background. Chances are, an 18 year old from some inner city slum will look at the debt and think they will be better off being a manager at mcDonalds getting 25K a year from tomorrow rather than study and be poor for 3 years, get 50K in debt, then leave and probably only earn 25K a year anyway. If you're dad's a millionare and you've been bankrolled through Eton, going to Uni is a non brainer but to 18 year olds from deprived backgrounds these fees are just another barrier in their way.
  16. If the Royals funded it themselves it would still attract the same amount of tourists and would provide extra vital funds for the country.
  17. I take this is an old thread, Lambert was shocking today.
  18. Have to agree, it's not right that people stand by and do nothing while education and vital public services get arse raped while the banks hand out billions in bonuses to each other. The bankers are predicted to are handing themselves £7billion this year, just a percentage of the cash the banks have sucked out of the economy this year.
  19. Just because Cortese says someone was milking the club doesn't make it fact. If someone is being paid for 'ambassadorial services' they obviously are doing a job and adding value, just because Cortese disagrees with the previous chairman about the value doesn't mean he's right because it's obviously quite hard to quantify. If money was being wasted the blame lies solely with the employer.
  20. The police's aggressive kettling is a big problem IMO. I think they like to do because it keeps everyone one place and simplifies their job but I reckon violence increases as a result. The problem is some people who have no intention of causing trouble end up getting provoked. After the Millwall match last season we ended up being penned in by the cops purely because we happened to be stood next to some "potential trouble makers". It's not fun and one by one the odd lad who'd had a few too many would lose it, and you can't blame them because you are having your rights ****ed on just because of the type of sport you chose to watch. Plus alot of the cops in the Met are just dicks who enjoy a ruck.
  21. Delldays, I'm pretty sure that submarine that you ponce about all day in at tax-payers expense would have been designed by someone who was once part of "the great unwashed", same goes for the radar that stops you ass getting sunk by the Russians, and the missiles you might maybe actually get to use one day. You don't have to go to university to be rich or successful, you've obviously proved that because you earn a living pushing a few buttons on a machine that some clever person has managed to create - society benefits from the furthering of knowledge, that's why people should be encouraged to study and learn. You never know, one of those stone throwers at yesterday's demo might end up developing a wepeons system that stops you becoming fish food some time in the future.
  22. Licence/tax no difference.
  23. Whilst I don't agree with the policy that has just been passed I think the student protests are way way over the top. I think alot of people think it's unjust that the goverment appears to tread on eggshells around the banks but don't think twice about a 200% odd increase in taxing education.
  24. I don't see anything wrong with the Echo getting stories off the BBC as their taxes, like ours, pay for it.
  25. A snooker ball to the nose would be appropriate, he was an ass hole.
