  1. I think the Brighton performance put to bed any lingering hopes of play-offs, today just confirmed it. We're still 4 points adrift, we need to get out of the relegation zone quick, I don't want another squeaky bum run in.
  2. Britain.
  3. Don't blame me, I wasn't even alive when we invaded Ireland. My point was that technically the British Isles is the islands which includes your country. To quote Wiki... The British Isles are a group of islands off the northwest coast of continental Europe that include Great Britain, Ireland and over six-thousand smaller islands.[7] There are two sovereign states located on the islands: the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Ireland.[8] The British Isles also include the Crown Dependencies of the Isle of Man and, by tradition, the Channel Islands, although the latter are not geographically part of the island group.
  4. Exactly.
  5. If the England bid includes an extended Fratton Park with 8,000 temporary seats on scaffolding complete with portaloos and burger vans, then we don't stand a chance. Even South Africa have managed to build enough decent stadia.
  6. My guess is that Gaydamak knows that it is inevitable that PFC will go into admin at some point, even if they stay up this year they are just buying time. Without serious investment by someone willing to chuck millions down a black hole or a footballing miracle it will only end in administration in the Championship. By keeping fartton park or just the land around it he keeps the only thing that will have any value, if a Leibherr type wants to pick them up for a snip after admin they will want to buy the land of Gaydamack.
  7. It's all just a storm in a tea cup, these skeptics have got hold of OVER 10 YEARS worth of emails and all they can come up with is a couple of scientists making a joke about someone who's died and a bit of selective statistics. Without seeing the full emails in context it is impossible to draw conclusions from them except that a handfull of scientists have been a bit unprofessional in their personal emails. When you consider what they are up against, like some of the graphs you've posted on here, that look like they've been done in Coral Draw by some redneck on an oil rig in Texas, you can't blame them for massaging the figures for certain uses to get a point across to some Sun readers. If there was some massive, worldwide conspiracy like you suggest any hackers would have unearthed a hell of alot more than they did. It really is nothing.
  8. It is because we own Northern Ireland which is on the same island as Ireland.
  9. Southampton would easily get it if they got their act together, the only competitors in the southern area are portsmouth (bid floundering - like the club), Bristol (nowhere near enough demand for a 40k stadium) and Plymouth (LOL). All Marcus has to do is get an architect draw up some imaginative plans for the SMS extension, get the council on board it would be in the bag.
  10. What a load of ******, it's just a few emails from some geeks in East Anglia ****ed off about nobheads like Saint George. Not exactly important.
  11. I saw at least two Robbie Keane handballs in the second half - that is all that needs to be said really.
  12. Am I right in thinking this tart hasn't been elected by anyone?
  13. This thread reminds me of an away trip to Everton years ago. We ended up in a home fans pub and we got chatting to these scousers and among them was this old codger who was probably about 80. Every game he would turn up a the boozer completely skint, and these guys would buy him a few beers and club together and get him a ticket for the game. He was probably loaded and on fiddle but fair play to the scousers who were not that well off but all chipped in for the old geezer.
  14. Romance is part or the appeal that generates the money though. If a competition is perceived as sterile, dull, predictable and corrupt people will soon turn off their TV. I'm not against seeding but the group stages were already seeded, once you get to the play-off stage and team loses their right to be seeded because they have already been given an advantage and proved to be not good enough to go through automatically - they should be considered equal at that stage.
  15. Complete nonsense, the FA Cup is way way more interesting because it's not seeded, that's the whole appeal of it, the romance of the cup (even though recently it's just ended up as Man U v Chelsea anyway). The World Cup is already too heavily seeded, unseeded teams in Europe often have a near impossible task of qualifying even if they are a better team than half the seeded ones.
  16. You are talking complete rubbish, the group stages were already seeded so to do it again was simply unfair. Unseeded teams already have to play harder group matches to qualify, why should seeded teams have an easier group stage AND and easier play off game just in case they underperform. It's just another case of money corrupting and ruining football, you might as well just handpick the sides based on TV revenue and be done with it.
  17. It is a disgrace that FIFA decided, out of the blue, to seed the playoffs. Ireland should be more annoyed with that than the hand ball.
  18. There has been no recent increase in solar activity to account for the upward trend - if anything going by solar irradiance there would have been cooling over the last few decades, that's why the solar theory has been debunked. If you look at the graph of mean temperatures they follow a cycle in relation to ocean movement. Agree with you on the last bit, much will be learned after the next major El Nino
  19. All the scientists agree that Solar activity, ocean currents and volcanoes etc influence the world's climate - they take all that information into account yet still conclude that there is an trend for warming caused by green house gases. It's not an either/or thing.
  20. I bet they get more pussy tho.
  21. The thing is the whole country is tribal, NATO has put one warlord in charge and there will be people who are never going to accept being ruled by him wether they are democratic or not. When we leave there's going to be tribal wars wether it's now or 10-20 years time.
  22. Works in Rugby, Tennis and Cricket. It would be so so easy to introduce at top level football. In fact wasn't it even used in the last World Cup final with the Zidane headbutt, I remember hearing somewhere that the 4th official saw it on video replay and informed the ref. There was almost a bizarre situation where 80,000 people in the stadium saw it, half the people on the planet saw it on TV, but because one bloke in the middle of the pitch was looking the wrong way he almost got away with it.
  23. All this stuff about terrorist training camps is just nonsense, the 9/11 attackers were from Saudi Arabia, used knives to hijack the planes (no training needed) and learned to fly in the US. If you want know how to blow up a tube train or bus you just need to look on line, you don't need to go to a training camp in some **** hole in the middle east.
  24. Do you think we should be forced to replay the Southend game then because Trotman quite clearly booted the ball out of the keepers hands?
  25. To be fair, Robbie Keane attempted at least two disgusting, cheating, hand-balls in the second half. You can't blame them for feeling hard done by because at least one official should have seen it but if Keane and Duff had taken either their two great chances they would have qualified. They are not at the World cup because they are not good enough - it's as simple as that.
