Two trips to Wembley, a Paint Trophy, promotion and the Skates relegation - that's the dream. All very achievable, we have some serious momentum at the moment, the one good thing about the -10 is that there is no weight of expectation, anything they achieve is a bonus. At the moment they look bulletproof.
-
Just because they don't have a box doesn't mean they don't go to the games or pay for a ticket. Maybe leon thinks that a club owned by a billionaire doesn't need the financial support his box brought.
-
You get the impression it's only the slight chance of Premiership survival that is holding their tower of cards together. Once the Arabs/Israelis/banks realise it's only a couple of years parachutes they have to fight over, I expect it will get really messy.

I don't think I have agreed with every policy of any party I have ever voted for. I doubt most Labour voters voted for them to invade countries in the middle east and murder thousands in the name of oil. The BNP only have any support in areas of high immigrant population, for these people Labour's open door policy is obviously the main issue so saw voting BNP as the best way to get their point across.
-
That's rubbish, they will always be a tiny party, they just benefited from a protest vote over MP's expenses and unhappiness over Labour's open door immigration policy. The Tories will obviously get in at the next election so you would hope they will have a tougher stance on immigration. If they say the right stuff they could murder the BNP vote - the vast majority who voted BNP were not racists, they were just fed up with being marginalised in their own country. The BNP are like the Greens in that they are a small, mainly one issue party. The Greens looked like they would make serious inroads but he major parties just all jumped on the environment bandwagon stopping them in their tracks.

It is so so easy to avoid trouble. I've followed Saints and England away for years and never had any trouble, even if it's kicking off all around you it's easy to just walk away. that's why I have no sympathy for the Yeovil thug who got beat up, the way they were acting outside the Alfred it was obvious they were up for a fight - and they got one. Boo hoo he got kicked whilst on the ground - probably make him think twice about acting all hard when totally outnumbered in the future.
-
I think the BBC have done an excellent job of showing the BNP up for what they are - well done. I expect there are plenty of people watching who voted BNP who are now feeling quite embarrassed, as should the thugs who rucked with the police outside.
-
"We did not have the £5m but we agreed with three banks to finance the acquisition, and they approved it based on the club financial guarantees we provided, such as annual revenue from TV coverage, and the income of the club real estate and other assets" They are paying the players wages using next season's parachute payments! If they go down they will pass through the Championship like a 3 day old prawn vindaloo.
-
A special mention has to go to the bunch of nobs outside the BBC protesting. Angry about the BBC giving the BNP publicity, they are causing a fuss and giving the BNP err... even more publicity. ****ing idiots.
-
The bloke is a nob but as almost a million people voted for his party he has every right to voice an opinion. If anyone has a problem with that, they don't have to watch it.
-
I agree they are brainless morons, but so were the Yeovil thugs who got their heads kicked in so it's a bit of a non issue for me. It's a bit hypocritical of the old bill to just stand there watching outside the Alfred, then do nothing to stop it kicking off further up the road (which was quite obvious what was going to happen) and now act like it's a big deal from the safety of their office. A bunch of inept cowards IMO. I've followed Saints and England home and away for years and it is so so easy to avoid trouble, those Yeovil fans were just idiots and would have got a kicking acting like that anywhere in the country.
-
I couldn't give a ****, Can't remember the last time I posted a letter to anyone. Worst case scenario - my National Geographic is a couple of days late.
-
I think the Mayans are the last people we should take notice of when it comes to predicting the collapsing of civilisations.
-
I expect the Yeovil fan who got a good kicking was the same muppet who was giving it large outside the Alfred - in which case he deserved it. It would be harsh for some Saints fan to get banged up for giving some guy the fight he wanted - and for that reason I agree with Romsey Saint, on this occasion don't tell tales.
-
Same here, it's amazing that only a few months ago we were facing oblivion and the Skates looked like they would be making a push for the Champions League with their new billionaire. Now, if we carry on our current from, there is a slight chance that we could be lining up against them next season in the Championship, us with the billionaire and them in financial meltdown - what a fantastic reversal of fortune that would be.

English League Cup - Round 2 second leg - KO 19:45 Portsmouth 1 (0) - 1(0) Blackburn Nightingale 77 Dunn 88 Blackburn win 5 - 1 on aggregate At Fratton Park on 26-09-2000 Attendance: 2731 They played a Prem team, surely there must be a 1 or 2 missing from the front of that?

I think it's more a case of the retards falling for Saggy Chops' charm offensive last week.

Thedelldays, post no 158, Lowe thread... "anyone who thinks he never did anything good for us at all or refuses to acknowledge that are mindless mongs.."
-
I don't buy that, money was obviously tight but we brought in plenty of players Wotton, Peckhart, Pulis, Forecast, Smith, Holmes, Robertson etc) and paid decent money for Schnerderlin. There was easily scope for a manager to build a side capable of staying up. Forcing youngsters through, an inexperienced foreign manager, and trying to play total football = the perfect recipe for relegation.
-
With the right manager we could have stayed up last season no problem, finances were tight but they were for a lot of clubs. If we looked like we were staying up Barclays would not have pulled the plug - they just looked at Lowe's mismanagement and had no other option. Lowe has to be among the worst ever chairman, he made some crazy decisions. Putting Steve Wigley in charge of a Prem team. Appointing Gray after an awful period as caretaker. Appointing a Rugby coach as director of football. Sacking Nigel Pearson and hiring Jan Poortvleit. Appointing Sturrock then sacking him 2 games into a season. Undermining Redknapp with Simon Clifford. Lowe's problem was his arrogance, when we got to Cardiff he thought he knew the lot when fact was we just had a lucky cup run, any team in the top two divisions could have done the same. He fell for the classic football sucker punch of believing his own hype and had the arrogance to think he could play russian roulette with the manager's job and get away with it - that ultimately is why we are where we are now.

Exactly, remember all that "football is my first love" rubbish he came out with. Forget all the sports science spin and the numerous job titles, Lowe was just trying to fast-track him to be manager, everyone knew it, Redknapp and Clifford said as much. If he really wanted to, and thought he could succeed in football he could easily have got a job managing at non league level and worked his way up like most other coaches have to.
-
You can't take away the fact that Lowe got SMS built, he deserves credit for that. But during the last decade or so virtually every club in the land has either built a new ground or transformed their existing ground - it's not exactly a great achievement, it's just the result of Sky TV's millions and the Tailor report. The single most important fact is that Lowe took over an established well run premier League club and left it bottom the 3rd division, in administration - AND he didn't even do that right.
-
I think 18 months of getting buggered by leeroy will teach him a lesson.
-
Its hard to find a worse chairman than Lowe. People mention Risdale, but Lowe did exactly the same, just missed out the Champions League Football bit.
