Appointing a Rugby coach as director of football. Sacking Nigel Pearson and hiring Jan Poortvleit. Appointing Sturrock then sacking him 2 games into a season. Undermining Redknapp with Simon Clifford. Lowe's problem was his arrogance, when we got to Cardiff he thought he knew the lot when fact was we just had a lucky cup run, any team in the top two divisions could have done the same. He fell for the classic football sucker punch of believing his own hype and had the arrogance to think he could play russian roulette with the manager's job and get away with it - that ultimately is why we are where we are now.

Exactly, remember all that "football is my first love" rubbish he came out with. Forget all the sports science spin and the numerous job titles, Lowe was just trying to fast-track him to be manager, everyone knew it, Redknapp and Clifford said as much. If he really wanted to, and thought he could succeed in football he could easily have got a job managing at non league level and worked his way up like most other coaches have to.

You can't take away the fact that Lowe got SMS built, he deserves credit for that. But during the last decade or so virtually every club in the land has either built a new ground or transformed their existing ground - it's not exactly a great achievement, it's just the result of Sky TV's millions and the Tailor report. The single most important fact is that Lowe took over an established well run premier League club and left it bottom the 3rd division, in administration - AND he didn't even do that right.

Its hard to find a worse chairman than Lowe. People mention Risdale, but Lowe did exactly the same, just missed out the Champions League Football bit.

It's not even close, I would guess that all things equal, Southampton's support would be 1/4 to 1/3 bigger.

Dont give me that tax rubbish, it is easy to have a fairer tax system that generates the same income. IMO a more progressive tax system would help the country in this current climate so your mate should pay more. I have a friend who has made a absolute fortune, a few extra percent in tax would make no difference to his lifestyle whatsoever - he certainly wont leave the country.

Oh not this "worked hard, fruits of labour" rubbish, there are millions who work their asses of doing more worthwhile jobs, it's just this ****ed up society skewed by rampant capitalism doesn't deem their jobs valuable enough, even if it is saving lives or protecting society. Think he's probably more upset by the fact that the Skates used to get crowds of 7K when they were in the league ABOVE us. Our demise has been depressing but at least it has settled the "who is the biggest" argument once and for all, even allowing for our superior stadium the stats are quite clear, Southampton is at least a third bigger in terms of support.

You say "Capitalism won" as if the Worlds economy is like a football match that has just blown full time. The world is still turning, we have dug ourselves out of one hole by borrowing and printing money - things will inevitably come to a head and a more socialist attitude may end up the best way forward. the rich can get richer and poor poorer for only so long, when the banker makes himself and his company millions he hasn't created any wealth, he's just taking wealth from someone else.
