I have no idea, whoever organises that sort of shit at the club I suppose, or whoever attended the meeting.

Considering during our current spell in the top flight we’ve seen teams like Villa, Leeds, Sunderland, Sheffield Weds, Norwich, Derby, Forest, Ipswich etc etc in the league below I think it’s fair to say staying in the league is a decent achievement. The way finances are going it’s going to get harder and harder to stay up without a rich owner willing to splash the cash. The league is different now to 10 years ago let alone 50. I remember Chelsea being in the league below us, now they are spending £60mill on a reserve full back. Teams like Newcastle, Man City and West Ham were traditionally shite when I was a kid now they are spending on a completely different level.
-
We're not lucky to be in this league but a for a club our size, staying up is an achievement. The lower leagues are littered with clubs our size or bigger who haven't been in the Prem for years. Unless we have an owner who wants to throw hundreds of millions at the club we will always be one bad season, or bad manager away from going down.

Pretty much the first line of that Wilson article is: “Premier League captains decided to reduce the anti-racism gesture after consulting with players.“ Weird they can make that decision themselves if they are being ordered around by the PL.
-
Where did he say the players were forced to do it by the PL?
-
Sky, the clubs, the players, they all say the same thing. Do you actually have any proof that it was anything other than a player led initiative? I have worked with sports marketing departments for years, forcing the players to take the knee against their wishes would be an absolute PR disaster for the FA.
-
It's clearly a player led initiative supported by the PL, not the nasty PL forcing players to do what they don't want like you suggest. Why do you need everything explaining to you? Unless it's drawn with crayons in primary colours you never seem to get it.
-
From Sky; Players and staff have been taking a knee prior to kick-off in games since June 2020 to show their support for the movement for racial equality. The decision is "wholeheartedly supported" by the Premier League, with players and match officials wearing 'No Room For Racism' badges on their shirts. "Following our club captains' meeting, that collective commitment was reaffirmed and the Premier League will continue to support the players' strong voice on this important issue.
-
You're a bellend for getting all upset over a harmless well-meaning gesture. It has always been a player-led initiative. You have been way off over this since day one - I remember you saying that there is no way they will take the knee when fans are back in the stadiums - spot on there.
-
Except they didn't all take the knee so it was obviously not compulsory. From what I have read, the team's captains got together at the start of the season and agreed to do it as a collective, it obviously wasn't a spontaneous gesture made by everyone with no organisation - no one has suggested it was. Can't believe you are still crying over this!

It works for players of any age. Van Dijk and Mane were already great players before they came to Saints, we just showed how good they can perform at Prem level. The club's policy is sound, they just shouldn't be dogmatic in their signings. We need a goalscorer otherwise we will probably go down, if a 30 something is available who can do the job we should sign him.

True, but fact is playing up front for us had pundits raving about Broja, wether we win or lose we're a good platform to showcase talent.
-
I just watched it and thought it was fine. Ralph’s comments on Broja were interesting, sort of confirmed what I thought in that he suddenly stopped giving a shite as soon as he made his name. I really don’t get what all you lot are bed-wetting about.

Russian air base in Crimea going up in smoke:
-
True, but if you pose zero threat going forward you are always going to get fucked over away to teams like Spurs. Adams and Armstrong are not going to score enough, this new French kid might be decent one day but as it stands I would say we ideally need to bring in two forwards. At the very least someone to play off Adams.
-
This. face it, until this is sorted out we will be shite regardless of who is manager.
-
Pretty much. From what I can see from our signings, this lot are just like Rupert Lowe with a better bank balance. I get that the club doesn't have money to burn like most the clubs in the league but just signing players to flog them for a profit later on is not going to end well. The bottom line is the first XI needs to improve or we go down and any strategy for making profit goes up in smoke anyway.
-
It’s a fucking mess. All summer to sort the squad out and we’ve just brought a load of kids who might have a sell on value in a couple of years.
-
Why the fuck did we buy that Ketchup bloke if he’s not as good as Stephens?
-
All that money spent and the first XI is no better at all, fucking madness.

I'm not a big fan of playing three centre backs, always seems to go flat with the full backs and the centre mids all pushed back leaving precious little attacking wise. I liked Poch's 4=2=3=1, think it's more flexible. here's who I would pick: —————————-—— Baz ——————————— KWP ———— Bednarek ——— Salisu ———— Perraud ———————— Lavia ——— Romeo ——————— S Armstrong ————— JWP ——-———— Aribo —————————— Adams ——————————

I didn't realise Notting Forest have lost 7 of the 15 that got them through the play-offs. Could be a good bet to go down.

To be fair, if the stats are to be believed we were not too bad at creating big chances 44 (11th) and we missed more than most 42 (7th), number of shots and shots on target not any worse than average. According to one site JWP created 71 chances and got 5 assists. Maybe if Broja wasn’t strolling about with a face like a smacked arse for the last half of the season our goal stats might have been better as well?
