Bantr.tv - 'Why The Saints Will Struggle In The Premier League'
mitch01 replied to wireframebox's topic in The Saints
Hmmm, we have little premier league experience, as opposed to Norwich/Swansea when they went up. Deary me. I may retort on my own blog: http://notplayedonpaper.blogspot.co.uk/ (shameless plug), but I have some pesky exams to do first. -

Some people we should be thinking about: McEachran (loan) - Hasn't really got a chance in the Swansea side since his loan, definitely a very bright prospect who would fit in with our passing style. Jarvis - can play on either wing, a really good out and out winger and easily good enough for the Premiership. Quite possibly we will be beaten to the punch, however. Rodriguez - very impressive goals this season, he scores all types. Can dribble, head, finish. He's strong and young. I wanted him rather than Sharp but I suppose Billy was the better option given his price and the decision has been vindicated. Guthrie - available on a free but again, I suspect someone else will steal in and grab him. He's an excellent player and has more than held his own in an impressive Newcastle team this year. McGreggor - Always liked him, capable of making stunning saves and probably ready to head south. Watch the two saves he made vs Celtic this weekend. Forster (is he still Newcastle's player?) - Probably available if he is still at Newcastle, but maybe Celtic would be his preferred choice? Snodgrass - Very decent winger, and people cite his lack of pace but I think Norwich have shown this season that players of his standard can easily make the step up. If Surman can score goals in the PL, so can he. Might be too expensive, though, Leeds really rate him. M. Phillips - probably too pricey but might be worth a go if they don't go up. Also: Butterfield Frimpong (loan) Shelvey (loan if Liverpool strengthen) -
Here's a little write-up - if your anything like me you can't get enough of reading about yesterday so enjoy! http://notplayedonpaper.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/lambert-adkins-and-lallana-make-history.html

Josh McEchran on loan? -
Thank you Markus, for one of the best days of my life. And for saving my club.
-
I'm heading off. Good luck, all.

Sing it slow!

I still remember his performance at CB with Baird at Pride Park in the playoffs. The pair of them were magnificent. But you're right, our attacking threat should be too much for Coventry, especially with a youngster making his debut at CB, too.
-
A draw could still be enough for us but still fancy us to win.
-
How can you bring that quote up as evidence for SOMEONE ELSE making a 'titty' of themselves? You don't exactly cover yourself in glory, there. The appropriate viewpoint on our promotion chances, in truth, probably lies somewhere between TDD's view and your own (although almost certainly a lot closer to his).

I like it when WHU win and people start saying: 'There is absolutely no chance we'll stay second now!' But what about the 2/3/4/5 more points we have than them? Even if WHU win I think we'll finish it on the final day! COYR

Here we go! http://notplayedonpaper.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/davis-career-arc-nears-fitting-end-as.html

If we do go up, I will be especially pleased for Kelvin Davis. Here's why: http://notplayedonpaper.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/davis-career-arc-nears-fitting-end-as.html

No it doesn't Peter, it means 'Call me a taxi I'm late for my plane.'

Brilliant: Talking after an epic 1-1 draw at Bristol City which has as good as secured third place for West Ham, Doctor Evil was full of praise for his team: "We only conceded one goal away from home and you have to be satisfied with that. It's a shame Rob Green was found wanting when the pressure was on but it's not just Rob, individual mistakes have cost us all season." "Of course there will be the usual ******** about my tactics. The important thing was not to lose tonight. There will be more ******** about 4-4-2 and about playing Vaz Te up front but just because Vaz scored a hat trick on Saturday, it doesn't mean he will score if played in an advanced role in the next game. He didn't score when I moved him forward in the second half did he?" "And there will be the usual Baldock ******** too. I had John Carew on the bench and he is a Norwegian international. Baldock is a good kid but you don't need kids at the business end of the season, you need experience. That's why Morrison hasn't featured." "We are safely in third and you have to be pleased with that. Peterborough let us down badly tonight and I'm angry about that. Had they beaten Southampton it would have been all to play for. Bristol City is a difficult place to come to. They are fourth from bottom remember, they're not a bottom three team. But you would expect Peterborough to do better against Southampton. We looked at that game and thought Southampton might struggle. Peterborough's performance has to be seen as very disappointing therefore. I feel very badly let down and I will on the blower to Peterborough to let them know how I feel." "But let's not forget this team finished bottom last season and we are third now. You have to be pleased with that. Bottom to third represents great progress. It's been a fabulous season when you take everything into account and I have done a brilliant job when all things are considered. Rob Green let me down today just like he let me down against Cardiff in the first game of the season. That's five crucial points Rob has cost me. I'll talk to Rob about that and I'm sure he will apologise." -
Ah! I'm on the brink, just don't feel like I can miss this after missing Plymouth last season. Could split up the journey by stopping off at my student house in Nottingham. Must find people to go with first, though!

Interesting scenario: Both Saints and WHU win tomorrow. WHU draw at Leicester. Saints in the late kick off are 2 ahead with a game in hand. Would we go all out for a win to secure it, or take a draw knowing that then avoiding defeat on the last day would be enough? Actually pretty plausible the more I think about it. I would take a draw under those circumstances, we should beat Coventry. -
Should Brighton be investigated for Saturdays game ?

What a completely ludicrous suggestion. -
http://notplayedonpaper.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/reading-show-value-of-art-of-half.html Don't know about anyone else, but I'm even more up for the Pboro game now! Would much rather be in our position than West Ham's, and we were unlucky last night, no doubt. Time for us to turn things back in our favour with a comprehensive win! Come on you Saints!
