  1. Think I read that he found it strange having kids with scouse accents. In a similar vein I had a mate who was properNewcastle Geordie, get him drunk and subtitles were needed, he was on the books at Marseilles as a nipper, spoke fluent French with a southern French accent, which a French friend found weird for someone so Geordie. Think I tenuously kept that on subject.................carry on
  2. During the 2014 World Cup we were on Holiday in Spain and one of our Dutch friends would set up his TV in his caravan awning for their games and we got excited with them as the Oranje progressed it was good fun. (To the point where for the semi we were only allowed to watch with them if we were wearing something Orange, the wife found an orange cap, but I brought the house down when I took off my fully zipped up golf jacket to reveal a KNVB shirt bought for €15 in a Nike outlet shop) Anyway I digress, when he came on as sub v Argentina they were all pretty excited and for the play off game moaning that he should have been playing earlier (but I think he had been injured) so when Saints’s picked him up I was pretty excited, you don’t get into the Dutch national team when it’s flying through being average. Obviously the Premier League is different gravy to many other leagues - but for him to turn out to be at best average for us, especially playing for his “father” Ronald Koeman was disappointing, especially as he blocked the pathway for Reed who similar in stature showed more tenacity (albeit a bit raw) when he did play that was more suited to the PL. He needs to sort himself out but if he leaves us for buttons it’s a more palatable pill to swallow than someone like Carrillo. I keep forgetting Clasie is still one of ours until this thread gets bumped now and again.
  3. Chelsea game v Slavic Prague has just got minty, Chelsea cruising at 4-1 (5-1agg) HT. Prague came out with a “hey nothing to lose here” Bang Bang 4-3 Prague’s 3rd absolute screamer! Chelsea have turned to Meringue as a result.
  4. Jeez Eurovision is the whole point of this thread, the rest is just stuff and nonsense! Lighthouse is having a Eurovision party again this year, bigger and better than previous years because he has booked a Marquee for his back garden!
  5. If my maths are right. Saints - 51pts - somewhere but wondering what all the fuss was about Relegated - Brighton - Champions - City Other two CL spots - Arsenal and Spuds Promoted - Norwich and Leeds Playoff winner - The Blades FA Cup - Watford Champions League Final - Ajax shock VAR decided 90 +5 pen scored by Tadic Pompey - don’t make playoff final Eurovision - Ukraine
  6. Have faith Sir Wolves lose Reading win 1-0, we smash Sunderland off the park next week in front of a shock capacity crowd job done on Goal difference. Simples. Monday 29th April 7pm St Marys
  7. When he scored on Saturday he looked like a huge weight had been lifted from his shoulders, we have seen in seasons past if he is on it no one wants to play against him. Lets hope he has a little flurry of success to see out the season.
  8. But Ralph said he loves him on the presser
  9. That is a spectacular goal for causing the comedy full speed collision in midfield by the WBA players alone! The stuff of comic books.
  10. In that meet the Ralphs soiree in the Gas Works bar, it was said that all the folks out on loan would have the rule run over them before decisions are made. In fairness to Boufal I think he is capable of being compliant, when he first turned up he just wanted the glory moments and not bother with the dirty work, under Pellegrino even young Sofiane said that he had learned to be more of a team player by working on his defensive responsibilities. From my seat in the stands you could see that he was more wiling to get back and carry out defensive duties. Ralph has given JWP the shot in the arm, that he himself admitted he needed, so who knows. At the end of the day if he turns out as not fitting the blueprint, maybe we can sell him back to Lille now they have CL next season.
  11. They say the decisions even themselves up, I guess given the amount of spawny offside goals City have scored over recent years, some against us, they got pinged on one big time tonight.
  12. Good decision
  13. Wow Madness This is Espanyol v Barcelona where the managers are concerned
  14. Wouldn’t count on Wolves taking to the pitch smelling of Hawaiian Tropic and wearing flip flops just yet. No way were Watford just going to lay down in that cup semi at 2-0 down. Against us we punched them on the nose early doors, gave them a bit of freedom to roam in midfield but stayed disciplined in defence, when they equalised whereas before we would have crumbled we quickly responded. Liverpool didn’t cruise past us although the score line looked like they did. We are on an upwards curve, stuck Sims in the mix (who delivered what he does), which an hour before kick off Wolves were going to have to scrabble around to find data on. Brighton look like just a bowl of milky porridge - Wolves fans alone are not going to let their team cruise at home on Saturday, 7th place is still on the table with a game in hand. Cardiff under Warnock are battlers, he ain’t going to let them go down without a fight. Last night could have seen them cut further adrift with games running out, now they have a target for Warnock to pump them up for.
  15. Mrs JBS is watching the Barca game - I’ve just watched the last 10 minutes. Wow it’s like watching a Kitten being teased with a bit of wool. Huge cheer for the Ajax goal on the Camp Nou
  16. Keeps us honest
  17. You missed the best bit on that - Messi had an innocuous shot no real pace by the time it got to De Gea it had become a bar of soap!! Trickled into the net!!
  18. You never know. Someone posted something elsewhere possibly in this thread, alluding to goings on behind the scenes. There was something said by Ralph post match on Saturday, and the way he said it was as if he was having a greater influence than just the "head of a department". Its pretty obvious that his head is screwed on properly, I'm maybe looking under totally the wrong stone, but I just wondered if by chance Gao might have found where the Rabbits to pull out of his sleeve are hidden and a route to get them out. Who knows - the Chinese can be just as secretive through silence as the Swiss about stuff, especially business. (the metaphorical rabbit pun was totally un-intended until it fell out of my fingers)
  19. First time I’ve seen that, aside from just realising why I’m not a doctor - because I couldn’t differentiate between the elbow and the wrist. As much as I would like him to miss our game that is a pretty soft red. He’s watching the ball all the time too. As it’s Watford doubt it will be rescinded, they might not even bother to appeal through fear of him missing the FA cup, when the FA add a couple more games to the ban for having the temerity to question the validity of the decision.
  20. Pointless it’s Watford. His kids will be happy - Easter with Dad.
  21. Not directly a defector - but the home of a few. They really do have some pea brain supporters - given their history you would think that none of them would do something so unacceptable.............of course its never them. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-6923229/Young-Chelsea-supporter-left-needing-aid-treatment-Liverpool-fans-threw-smoke-bomb.html
  22. Didn't Norwich do it - we knocked them out of the JPT they got promoted that season - then straight through the championship the following season. If you listened to the strange Coventry post match interview from him, he had delivered what he was employed to do. Adkins is rightfully lauded by the majority of Saints fans - he was a bright ray of sunshine after some very dark days - yes Pardew won us some silverware, but after doing so he took the foot off the gas instead of pushing on for the play offs.
  23. The other thing to factor in is the view of the pitch from the bulk of the seats is far better than the view on the pitch - we see the spaces they don’t have the benefit of that view.
  24. Punting a tenner on it will be far better spend in August this year than it would have been last August. (Without hindsight) If what is slowly being put together by Ralph and his team continues to develop, I don’t think many teams will be looking forward to playing us next season.
  25. It was a pretty easy game for him to manage, in that there were no silly theatrics, both sides went out to play football and he let boys be boys with a bit of rough and tumble and cheeky tugging. Stepped in when he needed to, some refs might have viewed that poor Wolves player getting Romeu’d a lot differently. He ain’t getting any younger and he knows it by his positioning mainly in the middle of the pitch, but his experience papers over those cracks.
