Can't disagree with that, showed yesterday when he got to, what looked to be, a lost cause ball that he has some pace and only a kerfuffle with his feet (that any pro of any age and experience could make) negated the effort. Christmas will be going down hill very quickly if I am not un-wrapping a copy on Christmas Afternoon! I have dropped enough hints and "lead the horse to water". I have customers (I even know the folks referred to in the op link) who sell and have sold the Robertson Jam Golliwog Character themed products in their shops, Tea Towels, Biscuit Tins etc, every single person who has gotten all emotional about the character depicted on product being sold has been white. There was a story a few years back about a shop-owner who had the Golliwog soft toys for sale and a window display, over the course of 18 months I believe he was arrested twice following complaints about him selling the toys. He drank in the same pub as the local Police Chief and they were on friendly terms, after the second arrest they were both in the pub and the shop-owner requested that he got a bit of notice the next time they were going to arrest him as everytime he had been arrested, and it had made the news, he had sold out of all his Golliwog stock: and it would be nice to get a bit more stock in before the next time.

Without a doubt If you listened to the post match interview with Adkins on Solent after the Coventry promotion game Adkins pretty much knew he was in the snipers sights as soon as the ref blew the final whistle: very strange to listen to at the time. No so sure about that, we live just in earshot of the M3 and Christmas Day it sounds just like a weekday morning until about midday then again from about 4pm till about 9:30pm qite surprising as I would have thought the same.

With the festive season nearly upon us here's a thought. In 1958 on the 25th December, if I have read it right, Saints played their last ever game on Christmas Day away to Newport County losing 4-2 the return game with County was on the 27th (3-3) In these days of managers complaining about the number of games at Christmas, back then the return match was played most years on Boxing Day. In 1957 25th December we played Aldershot away on the 26th December we played Aldershot at home. With TV money dominating Football if Sky announced that from next season there would be a live game at 11.30 on Christmas morning, what would your immediate thought be? And by some quirk of fate that live game was going to be Saints v Chelsea, novelty value aside, would you go?

A mate of mine is a senior Marshall for that, as he was at Merion didn't get paid but all flights accom and grub covered. He told Rory to run to the 1st Tee on the last day when he turned up late and begged for a lift in the buggy the 100yrds to the first tee. He responded "no, you've had plenty of sleep, a nice ride in a Police car, now you had better run and get yourself woken up". Which took him aback, and figured running was quicker than arguing then disappeared.
