All well and good if you know you don't have money concerns but since short term finances seem to be more important it doesn't make sence to buy a couple of players with potential, one has never played, the other hasn't contributed anything more than average performances. There is no evidence that Pulis was a make weight in the deal for Davies. I would have preferred a lower price than having a waste of space in the squad having paid agent fees and wages.

You would have thought that for one day, it could have been an exception with such important news coming from the club... just shows how important we have become.

Considering money was (and still is) in short supply I was thinking about the acquisitions this season and how they had to be carefully selected based on position, experience and cost (if any) of the player. Pekhart - didn't start many games, was isolated and looked like he didn't enjoy playing. Perhaps didn't suit the style of play so why waste a loan. Robertson - debut was full of promise but went rapidly down hill. Forecast - yet to play first team football, however why buy a player when the budget is tight and three other second string keepers are already here? Maybe: Liptak - nothing to gauge him although his playing career doesn't suggest he's a quality player but let's wait and see. Holmes - has shown some good performances but is too injury prone. Schneiderlin - has only shown glimpses of his quality with his passing but little else. Could £1m have been better spent? Smith - Signs that he can be a reasonable player but anonymous much of the time. Of course there will always be some misses but surely some research and scouting could have been to save picking up so many. Only 4 hits, 8 misses and 4 maybes which isn't a great return. Are you basing the futility on the team's home performances having splashed out on a ST or just the cost of it. The former I can understand, the later I don't get as one of the reasons to buy a ST is the reduced price per game. As I'm not a cynic, good-on-ya for buying a ST up front this season and being loyal to the club :-).

It only goes to show what a plank Lowe was - he couldn't get anything right on running the club from working with the traditional manager, new coach or a revolutionary set up, he ballsed it up!

Svensson - Keep as coach. BWP - Attitude and application stinks, get rid. Stern John - No, too expensive and getting on for a striker. Just to add there are two issues in this affair - the third party influence which I thought was decided on before the end of the season and the apparent tearing up of the contract which allowed Tevez to continue playing. It's the second which Sheff Utd went to (civil) court on regarding loss of earnings which only needed the judge to decide on whether Tevez's involvement in all probability helped WHU's cause to stay up. As such I don't think Warnock and the players have much of a case to get any money out of WHU... if only they beat Wigan at home! Middlesbrough case is total different so you cannot compare these two cases. But as you say it's bad for sport and will only get worse with more money at stake.

NO, it hasn't happened at smaller clubs. There was a clause in the agreement that Tevez could be sold without WHU say so. THIS was the issue - third part involvement.

As I said before, Dave Jones said the wage bill was a blip and it was bound to (and easy to see) the bill come tumbling down with the loss of the loans, retirements and out of contract players. Not really a hard decision, however, when it came to the replacements that's a different story (and BTW it's not about how much as Saints spent more than Swansea, Doncaster, Plymouth, Watford, Sheff Wed and Blackpool in the summer).

I would'nt have minded them going if there was a reasonable replacement, but that's not really the point as we have now abandoned the policy of playing youth as much as possible. So Chez, spill the beans, how much are those three earning? Weekly or Monthly wages with any add ons will suffice compared to the likes of Gasmi, Pulis, Cork etc.

Is this the blip Dave Jones talked about at the AGM? With the player loans having gone back to their parent clubs, player retirements and out of contract players not getting new ones, a financial ninny could see wages would only go in one direction (a clue: that's down). But who in their right mind would then sacrifice salaries of worthy CCC players to bring in loans and transfers, most who have hardly played, with the added 500k agent fees thinking these players would do well in a new team, new coaching set up, using new tactics with defensive frailties that have plagued the team for THREE seasons?

Don't forget sorting the football staff out, the total football and the challenge for promotion (all talked about by Lowe on Saints TV).

Not for Dowie or Adams but perhaps for Jim Gannon who's done well with little financial support and a young squad. I worry that Wotte has a bad transfer record in bringing the right type of player in and is a bit one dimensional in his approach to management (mainly his arrogance) will not last over time.

The trouble is those that come into the Cardiff side want to do well to stay in the playing eleven. If it's the in-form players injured then we will have little excuse not to beat them.

Not so much damned if they do. If only they engaged brain first and put a proposal which could be discussed rather than be dismissed as a pointless piece self promotion (as well as being a daft proposal).
