It might of course be reverse psychology, but I don't think we are going to make it. West Ham looked impressive on Friday and I think yesterday was a real downer for us. Reading on a roll and will go up champions. Feel so different from last week, but throwing it away so late on has caused a rethink for me. Injuries aren't helping. If we match West Hams next result, then maybe I'll cheer up, but Reading on Friday isn't one I'm looking forward to (plus away trips to the Boros). Down to the wire!!!!!!!!

I think West Ham are something like Lower Middle of the current form table whilst we're in top 3/4 (depending on number of games = current form). THink we've got 13 points from 6 games and they've only got 7 They'd have to seriously up their game as well as us fall away massively. Champions will be a push and the home Reading match critical, but I've always been a top two man and am not at all bothered about going up in first place (although it would be nice). Although yesterday's performance and no Lambert isn't the best way to end a season!!!!!
-
Agree with that and particularly given West Hams recent form. But that doesn't mean I can't be fooked off with a shoddy performance. We will go up, just don't think as Champions and think we will actually still be quite a few points ahead of a choking West Ham
-
Butterfield would get an 8 from me if you added us score to Jose, Jos and Fox as well. Midfield similar, Sharp 3 & Guly 3. De Ridder 2 Whole team maybe 30/110, only cos Kelvin gets 8
-
You might have a point but we are still 13 goals better off (imagine its effectively 14 as presume we have scored more). That said another couple of these and it's squeaky bum time. Poor tactics today, missing Lambert massively and awful performance.
-
Sharp is anonymous, full backs getting opened up, midfield losing the battle, just very poor all round.

Knee jerk me up, but for fecks sake sort this out. Well out of sorts and at all up for it. Nothing on the bench do the the current 11 need a fecking rocket up em!!!!!'

Nutshell. Cortese stands in The Northam, ergo he's right and Lowe was wrong HTH
-
As you say please don't confuse the concept of financial management with the reality of a poorly executed plan. Point of order on FCs point 6, when Lowe spoke about £20m, £25m, £30m (the figure changed regularly) to replace him he was talking about someone coming in and buying the Club in its entirety. Heard it regularly from the horses mouth and would regularly point out that that would be a decision for the shareholders, not him with his 6% or so holding.

Southampton has for long lacked a Council and an Executive with any real foresight or drive. Walk around and you'll see flats built on top of Medieval Vaults, centuries old walls knocked down for shops or roads or shops just plonked right in front of the Wall (Hannover Buildings). The Germans must take a fair share of blame as the reconstruction after the war caused many shortcuts, but I still maintain those in office have not made the most out of our city (although I also accept trade, commerce and a working docks are more beneficial than a theme park). As for the Sea City Museum it would appear that the local Conservatives are as bad as their peers at a national level!!! Wrong museum in the wrong place.

Club Finance Story - On Solent from 7am this morning

As Granty said somewhere the conversion of the debt/loans to equity should be a really positive thing as it probably removes any threat of immediate repayments etc. However a slight word of caution as after Abramovich had done the same at Chelsea David Conn of the Indy still had some doubts (think you have to look at the transaction itself and it's intention) http://m.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/may/19/roman-abramovich-chelsea-loan-debt?cat=football&type=article -
There must be so many different game going on at SMS today. If I could have been bothered to do a player rating post then I would have given De Ridder 4!!!' Might have been because he was asked to hug the touch line, but we were playing with 10 men for lost of the first half. Never got in to the game, never did anything of merit, never contributed, but is good at Tweeting. Flattered to deceive and don't think it's going to get an better

Am I wearing my rose tinted nostalgic glasses???? cos I thought he was a really decent player. Agree he liked to beat the player he had already beaten!!!! but can only remember I with a smile PS We will win today as have relocated my lucky boxers, nuff said

How would you like your Manager to be?
um pahars replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Would have to say a McMenemy style for me (but of course that only works if you're successful), closely followed by Strachan. But at the end of the day managers are judged by their results and so I'm more than happy to be supporting a more restrained and less flamboyant Adkins as he certainly is doing the business. I'm still not convinced we've got the "best players" in this division, so have to give Adkins all the credit for moulding the best team and keeping them going (even through a couple of rough patches). -
Feel free just to pop down on any of the nights the nets are running (Thurs 5th, 12th & 19th April) and people will make you more than welcome. Starts at 7:30 for an hour, all equipment provided and it won't cost you a penny. Will send you a PM with a couple of contact details if you like.

We're actually seeing a bit of a resurgence (we were struggling a couple of years ago) and only started up the second team on Tuesday nights last year. Like many smaller village clubs we suffered from the village starting to lose it's sense of community and there being a dearth of youngsters in the locality. We managed to tie up with Gemmel's lads team who were playing in a colts league a couple of years back and as I also knew many of them I suggested they bring them all up to the Font. Many on here will know the lads as they are home and away every Saints match. Great bunch who have helped keep the Club on the map. I think one of the problems is the sheer number of cricket teams in Hampshire. Apparently the Saturday Hampshire League is the biggest in the world with 350 teams playing!!!!! Throw in many youngsters not particularly being that committed to a long day of cricket (everything is a 20/20 bash nowadays) and some Clubs are struggling.

Hull 0 - 2 Saints - Post Match Reaction Thread

Our away win awesome, but throw in Reading losing and West Ham drawing means I'm drinking on a school night!!!!!! -
Mottisfont CC are are always on the lookout for players for their two Tuesday teams and one Saturday team (plus some Sunday friendlies). Both Tuesday teams play in Holt & Haskell Border League (Romsey & surrounding area). One team made up of young lads (16-20 yo) inc Gemmel's lad and his mates, and the other one a bit older (Minty turned out for a few games last year!!!!). Tuesday nights definitely laid back and just enjoying a relaxing game of cricket (18 overs bash). Saturday is 42 overs in the Hampshire League RDNW2. A bit more serious, but still pretty chilled. I'm sure Minty and Gemmel can vouch for how friendly everyone is up the Font and there's a pretty decent set up as well. We have free nets every Thursday @ 7:30 from 5th April onwards at Oasis Lord's Hill (formerly Oakslands School). Feel free to come along or drop us a PM for more info.

44 First game was 1974 v Glasgow Rangers in the Texaco Cup First away match was Brighton on New Years Day in the promotion year (think "that" Bristol Rovers game was a few weeks later). Born Northam, raised in Lordshill/Millbrook, now back living City Centre way. Have to say that the age profile on this thread is quite surprising, we're mostly all old feckers, which does make you wonder how we ***** so much like teenagers LOL
-
Was 11ish and my overiding memory was also having to get off on the hard shoulder of a motorway (an elevated section???) and getting in after kick off and bascially seeing feck all for the first half. Managed to squeeze down the front at half time. Being honest although we got on the pitch first (the royal we, as I didn't!) I have to say that Rovers well and truly chased us back at the end when they all came on from a half covered end opposite. Took us ages to find our coach and was not the most pleasant of experiences afterwards LOL. That was the promotion season wasn't it??

I remember when there were nuclear free city signs on the approach roads to the city. Waste of time, effort and money.
-
Well we've received our Potassium Iodide tablets for the stay of the sub. Did you have them given to you for personal use or only handed out if there was a problem??
-
If I were West Ham and their demise looked as though it would cause a problem(ie lose some points), then I'd take a few of their players on loan and pay hem £££££££s as a loan fee!!!!
-
Don't get me wrong, I think they have really taken the ****5 for too long, I think the situation is dire and I wouldn't shed a tear if they folded, it's just that they have always manage to blag their way out of it (not worrying about who they have fooked over n the way).
