  1. Teams upgrade every season, we need to do the same otherwise we will get left behind......whatever that looks like. Going into the new season with virtually the same squad will, I think, see us struggle. Assuming none of the star names leave, then a couple of new midfielders would be most welcome.
  2. Dave Puckett
  3. Clearly not on a similar footing to us in terms of what they're prepared to invest unfortunately. Money talks, we all know that but this would be an odd move for someone who could conceivably be playing at Barca or Real very soon. I like to think we will bribe him to stay for an extra season, give him/us the shop window of the World Cup and then get £80m for him next summer.
  4. If the chinese are taking a majority share then chances are they'll want a 'name' as the new manager - so sh1t like rowett, dyche, howe etc won't fit the bill. Some of the seemingly out of reach names being mentioned may not be that unrealistic......which hopefully means they'll be given some money to spend too!
  5. Thanks sweetheart, I've worked in the media industry for nearly 20 years so understand more than most - I was just taking the p1ss.
  6. some jumped up squirt in the marketing/pr team is probably high fiving his mates down at the local organic juice bar about the campaign....whilst most people seem to be at the 'just get on with it' stage
  7. silva's resigned......?
  8. I'm a ST holder but missed a few this year meaning I've been to ten home games.....and the stats are impressive.... 10 games, 2 wins, 2 defeats and 6 draws (4 of which 0-0) - 4 goals scored by saints, 7 against! Yep, that's it! Last time I saw us score at home was Boufal against 'boro back in early december. In all those fixtures the football was the same boring, nervy, unconvincing cautious cr4p where the players didn't seem to be 100% sure what they were up to. In the corresponding fixtures last season (exc. the 2 games against promoted sides) we scored 18 goals! I think the prem is too much for monsieur clod.
  9. looked good to me, stronger and a bit more of a fighter than cedric
  10. zola?
  11. As a ST holder I've sat through plenty of performances like the hull game so my point of view is based on what I've seen. Even when we beat 'boro at home through a slightly fortunate boufal goal, the football was terrible. On Soccer Sat they were talking about how 'boro got themselves relegated....approaching matches by setting up with the primary focus of 'not to lose' and aiming to nick the odd goal....which, in their view, has lead to too many draws and not enough goals. Sound familiar?
  12. It's not the league position or the cup final, it's the tactics/performances that we have to sit through - his style of football is dull and frustrating. I'd rather the team finish one place below wherever he gets us and enjoy entertaining, passionate football. The squad also doesn't appear to be much of a 'team' either.
  13. J Rod - he wasn't exactly lighting the place up as a goalscorer before his injury and he looks a spent force now. Big shame but both he and the club need to move on.
  14. he'll be gone by the weekend - especially with the ST renewal deadline. I fckn hope so...
  15. I can't get to this one so based on that I think we'll win 3-1
  16. 4 consecutive league games where we haven't scored - the second weekend in a row where we play our part in a match that's widely considered the worst of the weekend. we've barely scored half the number of goals at home versus last season. Puel is really creating a season to remember.
  17. Yes but we need a manager with some courage and belief in his team
  18. The whole thing about restructure and seeking the right sort of leadership for the future suggests he was asked to leave. If he resigned of his own volition then it would have talked about how they are seeking a suitable replacement to continue his good work....or something like that.
  19. they will want it more, they're better than us, we'll get smashed to bits
  20. I'd be delighted. A new manager is less of a risk than sticking with clod. Regardless of table position, the football is awful.
  21. Everyone around us said he'd miss it, so if the fans have such low expectations why on earth is Puel and Davies letting him take it! As bad a performance as I've seen and right down there with stuff from the start of the season when we were 'managing' the players energy levels. We haven't moved on and look as disjointed as ever - the buck stops with the manager. If Koeman had this lot out there today we would have put 3 or 4 past Hull - they were shocking. All I could see with Clod was his hands on his hips looking slightly angry or slumped in his chair. Dreadful. Occasionally I think we've turned the corner and perhaps he does have a cunning plan, but then I sit through another performance like that and realise that this is probably as good as it gets. Sack Puel and get Adkins in to oversee things to the end of the season - at least we might see some exciting attacking football. Bloke returning to his seat during first half said to his mate how bored everyone looked. How has it come to this.....
  22. In the context of our defending yes. Who we were playing never seemed to bother us in previous seasons.
  23. Which is nice I think, with many possibilities
  24. Puel doesn't seem to be able to instill confidence and determination for the games against the big boys. We always look scared and end up panicking.
  25. Puel has got to sort out how he mentally prepares the players - no belief, confidence or determination. In previous seasons we have always given the 'top 6' a good game, especially at SMS, but with Puel we look scared. The fact we no longer compete on the pitch with the big boys is evidence, if we needed it, that this squad is the weakest we've had since our return to the premier league. The performance today was as nervy as some of the dross served up at the start of the season. As many have said there's no disgrace in losing to City, but the manner in which we did is frustrating and disappointing and I can't help but think another manager would get more out of the squad.
